Department of Anaesthesiology
The Department teaches about, and conducts research on, the alleviation of pain in patients.  The Department co-lectures postgraduate course, and trains extern, residents and nurses in anesthesiology in cooperation with the Royal College in Anesthesiology.

Department of Forensic Medicine
The Department manages a course on Forensic Sciences and Practice in Forensic Medicine for medical students as an elective course.  The Department performs autopsies in cases of unnatural death in metropolitan Khon Kaen and other provinces in the Northeast.  The Department takes responsibility for the fields of jurisprudence, forensic laboratory services 9viz. toxicology, investigation of trace evidence, serology and alcohol).  The Department cooperates with police investigators in their efforts to solve crimes.

Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine teaches medical students and residents in general internal medicine.  The Department is divided into eleven units: cardiology, respiratory diseases, gastroenterology, nephrology, hematology, dermatology, infectious diseases, neurology, allergy, immunology and rheumatology, endocrinology and nutritional diseases.  The Department’s services to the community include regular in- and out-patient hospital services and special clinics in each of the above listed areas.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The Department provides healthcare to the patients and health information to the public, trains healthcare personnel at undergraduate and graduate levels and is a center for reproductive studies in the region.

Department of Ophthalmology
The Department is the center for academic and clinical ophthalmology in Northeast Thailand, Lao PDR., Cambodia and Vietnam.  The Department focuses on all levels of eye care with an emphasis on locally endemic eye problems.  In addition, six special eye clinics provide treatment for 1) glaucoma, 2) retina, 3) strabismus, 4) neuro-ophthalmology, 5) ocular surface, 6) retraction & contact lenses and low vision. 

Department of Orthopaedics
The Department provides teaching and instruction to medical students and students in physical therapy from the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences.  Medical services are provided both in the outpatient clinic and the inpatient ward for acute and chronic cases.

Department of Otorhinolargyngology
The prime mission is the provision of medical education to undergraduate medical students, graduates and residents.  The Department is the only training center for otolaryngologists in Northeast Thailand, so tertiary care and research on endemic ENT problems are provided.

Department of Paediatrics
The Department teaches basic concepts in the biological process and disturbance of system and function during child growth and development.  Clinical clerkships involve working in the paediatric wards, nursery, outpatientclinicsm well-baby clinic and attending seminars.  The program presents opportunity to work, explore and conduct research on child health problems in the community.

Department of Psychiatry
The Department teaches the programs emphasize the psychosocial aspects of medical care, communication skills and encourage students to view psychiatric patients and psychiatric disorders with both knowledge and compassion.

Department of Surgery
Surgical services range from General Surgery, Urology, Paediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, Neurologic to Cardiothoracic.  Teaching and learning are accomplished through lectures, periodical reviews, clinical case discussions, demonstrations and morbidity-mortality conferences.
