The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU), is advancing its international research collaboration in cardiovascular sciences through an academic exchange with the University of Porto under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching program.
As part of the program, Prof. Inês Falcão-Pires, a leading expert in cardiovascular physiology from the Cardiovascular Research and Development Centre, Department of Surgery and Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, visited MDKKU from March 30 to April 3, 2026.
Prof. Falcão-Pires is internationally recognized for her work in cardiac remodeling, reverse remodeling, heart failure, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), an increasingly important and complex condition in contemporary cardiovascular medicine.
The visit reflects MDKKU’s continued effort to strengthen global research partnerships and expand collaboration in areas aligned with Thailand’s evolving health priorities.
The exchange was coordinated by Prof. Poungrat Pakdeechote, Head of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, with the aim of fostering sustained academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
During her visit, Prof. Falcão-Pires delivered two invited lectures to medical students, residents, researchers, and faculty members:
The lectures highlighted current advances in cardiovascular pathophysiology, experimental and clinical models of disease, and contemporary approaches to cardiac function assessment.
On April 1, 2026, Prof. Falcão-Pires, Prof. Poungrat Pakdeechote, and faculty members from the Department of Physiology met with Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, to discuss future collaboration in cardiovascular sciences.
The discussion emphasized the development of translational research that bridges laboratory findings and clinical application, with the aim of generating research outcomes that directly address national health priorities.
A key area of shared interest was Rheumatic Heart Disease, which remains a significant public health concern in Thailand and other low- and middle-income settings. Although its incidence has declined in many high-income countries, the disease continues to affect vulnerable populations and presents important opportunities for future collaboration in integrating basic science, clinical research, and locally relevant health data to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
The visit also initiated discussions on joint research initiatives, faculty exchange, researcher mobility, and academic knowledge-sharing, reinforcing MDKKU’s commitment to building sustainable international partnerships and advancing research with meaningful clinical and public health impact.

โดย Prof. Inês Falcão-Pires ถือเป็นหนึ่งในนักวิจัยที่มีบทบาทโดดเด่นในวงการวิจัยโรคหัวใจของยุโรป โดยมีความเชี่ยวชาญในด้าน cardiac remodeling, reverse remodeling, heart failure และ HFpEF หรือภาวะหัวใจล้มเหลวชนิดที่หัวใจยังคงบีบตัวได้แต่ทำงานผิดปกติ ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในโจทย์วิจัยสำคัญของวงการโรคหัวใจทั่วโลก อีกทั้งยังมีผลงานวิชาการตีพิมพ์ในวารสารนานาชาติด้านโรคหัวใจอย่างต่อเนื่อง และมีบทบาทในเครือข่ายวิจัยหัวใจของยุโรปอย่างชัดเจน
การเยือนครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายการเปิดประตูสู่ความร่วมมือด้าน Cardiovascular Sciences ระหว่าง คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น กับ University of Porto มหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของโปรตุเกสที่มีความโดดเด่นด้านการวิจัยและนวัตกรรมมากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่ง โดยมี ศาสตราจารย์พวงรัตน์ ภักดีโชติ หัวหน้าสาขาวิชาสรีรวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เป็นผู้ประสานความร่วมมือหลัก
ตลอดช่วงการเยือน Prof. Inês Falcão-Pires ได้บรรยายพิเศษ 2 หัวข้อสำคัญได้แก่ “Cardiac Reverse Remodeling: Mechanisms and Clinical Implications; Animal and Human Models of Cardiovascular Disease” และ“In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation of Cardiac Function; HFpEF” แก่ นักศึกษา แพทย์ประจำบ้าน นักวิจัย และคณาจารย์ของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ โดยเน้นองค์ความรู้ด้าน กลไกโรคหัวใจ การประเมินสมรรถนะการทำงานของหัวใจ และโจทย์วิจัยสำคัญในโรคหัวใจล้มเหลว
อีกหนึ่งประเด็นสำคัญของการเยือนครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 1 เมษายน 2569 เมื่อ Prof. Inês Falcão-Pires พร้อมด้วย ศาสตราจารย์พวงรัตน์ ภักดีโชติ และคณาจารย์จากสาขาวิชาสรีรวิทยา เข้าพบ รองศาสตราจารย์ ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เพื่อหารือแนวทางพัฒนาความร่วมมือด้าน Cardiovascular Sciences ระหว่างคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และ University of Porto
ด้วยบทบาทของ รองศาสตราจารย์ ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส ในฐานะแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านหัวใจและหลอดเลือด การหารือจึงลงลึกถึงแนวทางพัฒนา Translational Research หรือการวิจัยที่เชื่อมจากห้องแล็บสู่การใช้จริงในผู้ป่วย โดยมุ่งสร้างองค์ความรู้ที่ตอบโจทย์ปัญหาสุขภาพของประเทศอย่างแท้จริง
หนึ่งในประเด็นที่ได้รับความสนใจเป็นพิเศษ คือแนวทางการพัฒนางานวิจัยเกี่ยวกับ โรคหัวใจรูมาติก (Rheumatic Heart Disease) ซึ่งยังคงเป็นปัญหาสาธารณสุขที่พบได้ในประเทศไทย และส่งผลกระทบต่อผู้ป่วยในหลายพื้นที่ โดยเฉพาะในกลุ่มประชากรเปราะบาง โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องศักยภาพของความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ในการต่อยอดสู่การสร้างองค์ความรู้ งานวิจัย และแนวทางดูแลรักษาที่ตอบโจทย์บริบทสุขภาพของไทยได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการหารือถึงแนวทางการแลกเปลี่ยนบุคลากร นักวิจัย และองค์ความรู้ระหว่างสถาบัน เพื่อสนับสนุนการพัฒนาศักยภาพด้านการวิจัยและการเรียนการสอนในระยะยาว อันจะนำไปสู่การสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการที่เข้มแข็งและยั่งยืนยิ่งขึ้น ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้จึงนับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการต่อยอดความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ และขับเคลื่อนงานวิจัยด้านโรคหัวใจและหลอดเลือดให้เชื่อมโยงกับโจทย์สุขภาพสำคัญของประเทศไทยมากยิ่งขึ้น

孔敬大学医学院积极与国际心血管研究网络建立关系，并迎来了来自葡萄牙波尔图大学医学院外科与生理学系心血管研究与发展中心的心血管与生理学专家 Inês Falcão-Pires 教授，博士学位。她于2026年3月30日至4月3日根据 Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching 工程访问了该学院。
Inês Falcão-Pires 教授被尊为欧洲心脏病研究领域最杰出的研究人员之一,专攻心脏重塑、逆向重塑、心力衰竭和射血分数保留心型心力衰竭、HFpEF,即心脏仍然能收缩但功能异常的心力衰竭，这是全球心脏病学界最重的研究课题之一。她在国际心脏病学期刊上发表了大量论文，并在欧洲心脏病研究网络中发挥着重要作用。
此次访问的目的是开启孔敬大学医学院与波尔图大学（一所因其杰出的研究和创新而闻名的葡萄牙鉴定大学）在心血管科学领域的合作之门。孔敬大学医学院生理学系主任 Poungrat Pakdeechote 教授是此次合作的主要协调人。
在 Inês Falcão-Pires 教授的访问过程中。就2个重要主题进行了特别讲座，即“心脏逆向重塑：机制和临床影响；心血管疾病的动物和人类模型”和“心脏功能的体外和体内评估；HFpEF”为医学院的学生、住院医师、研究人员和教师。通过专注于心脏机制的知识，对心脏功能的性能评估和心力衰竭的重要研究问题。

鉴于 Pattarapong Makarawate 副教授是一位心血管专家，讨论深入探讨了转化研究的发展，即将实验室研究与现实世界的患者应用联系起来的研究，旨在创造真正解决国家健康问题的知识。

The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, extends its congratulations to faculty members from the Biochemistry discipline on their appointment as Visiting Professors at Kumamoto University, Japan:
The appointment is effective from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2028.
In this role, they will contribute to international academic and research activities, including supervising students in the Double Degree Program, presenting research in the Graduate School of Medical Sciences seminar series, and conducting international collaborative research.
This appointment reflects the academic excellence of the faculty members and highlights the strong collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Kumamoto University in advancing medical science education and research at the international level.

On March 30, 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University warmly welcomed a delegation from Southern Medical University, People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of their official visit to discuss academic collaboration and the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
The delegation from Southern Medical University was led by Ms. Wu Peixian, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education, accompanied by Ms. Chen Fengchu, Teacher of the School of International Education, and Ms. Zhou Guangrong, along with their colleagues.
The representatives from Khon Kaen University were led by Dr. Pongkit Ekvitayavetchanukul, Member of the KKU Promotion Affairs Committee, Khon Kaen University Council, and Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, together with the International Relations team of the Faculty of Medicine.
The meeting focused on fostering academic cooperation in the areas of education, research, and exchange programs for students and staff. Both institutions expressed a shared commitment to enhancing international collaboration and promoting global competencies among their students and personnel.
Following the meeting, the delegation was given a guided tour of the Faculty of Medicine. The visit included an overview of academic services, medical services, and various facilities, such as the cafeteria, medical student dormitories, and the overall campus environment.
This visit marks another significant milestone in strengthening international partnerships and reflects the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University’s commitment to advancing global engagement and sustainable academic collaboration.

Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine continues to advance its Go International strategy through clinical exchange and elective training programs for resident physicians and medical students from partner institutions abroad. The programs are designed to promote academic learning, exchange of clinical experience, and the development of medical professionals in an international context.
Recently, Dr. Gabriele Šukytė, a fourth-year resident in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine from Vilnius University, Lithuania, completed an eight-week elective at the Department of Anesthesiology, Srinagarind Hospital, from February 3 to March 26, 2026. During the placement, she learned about anesthetic care in a tertiary referral hospital setting, including the assessment and planning of anesthesia for patients with complex conditions and high clinical risk.
Dr. Gabriele said the elective clearly demonstrated the quality of teaching and clinical standards at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine. She particularly appreciated the close supervision provided by experienced faculty members, which helped her understand both the academic principles and their application in real patient care in a structured way. She also noted the value of learning within a multidisciplinary team environment, where close collaboration among healthcare professionals plays an essential role in patient management.
In addition, the Faculty of Medicine hosted four fifth-year medical students from Aichi Medical University, Japan — Mr. Takasuke Ojio, Mr. Satoru Imai, Miss Yuri Iwashita, and Miss Kanon Okada — for clinical electives at Srinagarind Hospital from March 2 to 27, 2026. Their rotations included Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, allowing them to observe patient care in a range of specialties within a complex and diverse clinical setting.
The Japanese students said the elective broadened their understanding of Thailand’s healthcare system, where teamwork among physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals is closely integrated. They also gained insight into clinical decision-making in situations requiring knowledge, careful judgment, and patient-centered care, which they described as highly valuable for their future medical careers.
At the same time, Mr. Hiroto Okuda, a fifth-year medical student from Gifu University, Japan, completed a one-month elective at Srinagarind Hospital from March 2 to 27, 2026 in Pediatrics and the General Surgery Unit specializing in liver, gallbladder, and pancreas care. His learning focused on the management of specialized conditions and diseases commonly seen in the northeastern region of Thailand, as well as a holistic approach to patient care involving assessment, planning, and follow-up.
Mr. Hiroto said he was especially impressed by the quality of teaching, which emphasized learning from real patients and engaging in close discussion with faculty members. He said this approach deepened his understanding of tertiary care services and highlighted the commitment of healthcare professionals to delivering effective, individualized patient care. He added that the experience would be highly beneficial for his future studies and medical practice.
The participation of these international trainees reflects the strong academic potential of Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine as a regional and international center for medical education. It also serves as an important platform for institutional collaboration and knowledge exchange, contributing to the long-term development of global medical education partnerships.
นักศึกษาแพทย์และแพทย์ประจำบ้านต่างประเทศ สะท้อนศักยภาพการเรียนการสอนระดับสากล
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ยังคงขับเคลื่อนยุทธศาสตร์การเป็นโรงเรียนแพทย์ระดับนานาชาติ หรือ Go International อย่างต่อเนื่อง ผ่านการจัดโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนและศึกษาดูงานทางคลินิกให้แก่แพทย์ประจำบ้านและนักศึกษาแพทย์จากสถาบันคู่ความร่วมมือในต่างประเทศ เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ทางวิชาการ การแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ด้านการดูแลผู้ป่วย และการพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในระดับสากล
ล่าสุด Dr. Gabriele Šukyte แพทย์ประจำบ้านชั้นปีที่ 4 สาขาวิสัญญีวิทยาและอภิบาลผู้ป่วยวิกฤต จากมหาวิทยาลัยวิลนีอุส ประเทศลิทัวเนีย ซึ่งเข้าศึกษาดูงาน ณ สาขาวิชาวิสัญญีวิทยา โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ เป็นระยะเวลา 8 สัปดาห์ ระหว่างวันที่ 3 กุมภาพันธ์ – 26 มีนาคม 2569 โดยได้เรียนรู้แนวทางการดูแลผู้ป่วยทางวิสัญญีวิทยาในบริบทของโรงพยาบาลศูนย์ระดับตติยภูมิ รวมถึงกระบวนการประเมินและวางแผนการระงับความรู้สึกในผู้ป่วยที่มีภาวะซับซ้อนและมีความเสี่ยงสูง
Dr. Gabriele กล่าวว่า การศึกษาดูงานครั้งนี้ทำให้เห็นถึงคุณภาพของการเรียนการสอนและมาตรฐานทางคลินิกของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นอย่างชัดเจน โดยเฉพาะแนวทางการเรียนรู้ภายใต้การดูแลของอาจารย์แพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ซึ่งช่วยให้เข้าใจทั้งหลักการทางวิชาการและการประยุกต์ใช้ในการดูแลผู้ป่วยจริงได้อย่างเป็นระบบ นอกจากนี้ ยังได้เรียนรู้มุมมองการทำงานของทีมสหสาขาวิชาชีพที่มีความร่วมมือกันอย่างใกล้ชิด ซึ่งเป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีคุณค่าสำหรับการพัฒนาทักษะทางวิชาชีพต่อไปในอนาคต

นักศึกษาแพทย์จากมหาวิทยาลัยไอจิกล่าวว่า การศึกษาดูงานครั้งนี้ช่วยเปิดมุมมองต่อระบบการดูแลผู้ป่วยในประเทศไทย ซึ่งมีลักษณะการทำงานที่คล่องตัว และให้ความสำคัญกับการทำงานร่วมกันของทีมแพทย์ พยาบาล และบุคลากรสหสาขาวิชาชีพอย่างใกล้ชิด อีกทั้งยังเป็นโอกาสสำคัญในการเรียนรู้แนวทางการตัดสินใจทางคลินิกในสถานการณ์ที่ต้องอาศัยทั้งความรู้ ความรอบคอบ และความเข้าใจในผู้ป่วยอย่างรอบด้าน ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการพัฒนาทักษะทางการแพทย์และการเตรียมความพร้อมสู่การเป็นแพทย์ในอนาคต
ขณะเดียวกัน Mr. Hiroto Okuda นักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 5 จากมหาวิทยาลัยกิฟู ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ก็ได้เข้าศึกษาดูงาน ณ โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ระหว่างวันที่ 2 – 27 มีนาคม 2569 ในสาขาวิชากุมารเวชศาสตร์ และหน่วยศัลยศาสตร์ทั่วไป ด้านตับ ถุงน้ำดี และตับอ่อน โดยได้เรียนรู้แนวทางการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคเฉพาะทางและโรคที่พบได้ในบริบทของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ รวมถึงกระบวนการดูแลรักษาแบบองค์รวมที่เชื่อมโยงการประเมิน วางแผน และติดตามผลอย่างเป็นระบบ
Mr. Hiroto กล่าวว่า สิ่งที่ประทับใจคือคุณภาพของการเรียนการสอนที่เน้นการเรียนรู้จากผู้ป่วยจริงและการแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นกับอาจารย์แพทย์อย่างใกล้ชิด ทำให้เข้าใจระบบการดูแลผู้ป่วยในระดับโรงพยาบาลตติยภูมิได้ลึกซึ้งมากขึ้น อีกทั้งยังเห็นถึงความมุ่งมั่นของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในการดูแลผู้ป่วยอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและคำนึงถึงความแตกต่างของผู้ป่วยแต่ละราย ซึ่งเป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีคุณค่ายิ่งต่อการนำไปต่อยอดในการศึกษาและการทำงานทางการแพทย์ในอนาคต
การศึกษาดูงานของแพทย์ประจำบ้านและนักศึกษาแพทย์จากต่างประเทศในครั้งนี้ สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงศักยภาพของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการเป็นศูนย์กลางการเรียนรู้ทางการแพทย์ระดับนานาชาติ และเป็นเวทีสำคัญสำหรับการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ระหว่างสถาบัน ซึ่งนอกจากจะช่วยยกระดับทักษะและมุมมองทางวิชาชีพของผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการแล้ว ยังเป็นการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือทางวิชาการที่เข้มแข็งและยั่งยืนต่อไปในอนาคต
The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, extends its sincere congratulations to Dr. Natnicha Puangpan on the successful completion of the Double Ph.D. Degree Program (DDP), a collaborative academic program between the Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and the Medical Sciences Program, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine at Kumamoto University, Japan.
This program aims to enhance the capacity of graduate students by providing advanced knowledge, research experience, and international exposure through joint supervision, academic exchange, and collaborative research between the two institutions.
Dr. Natnicha Puangpan was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Science from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kumamoto University, Japan, on March 25, 2026. This achievement represents a successful outcome of the academic collaboration framework between the partner universities.

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University took part in “New Zealand – Thailand Strengthening Partnership in Khon Kaen,” an event held to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and New Zealand, and used the occasion to explore academic and research collaboration with Massey University, one of New Zealand’s leading universities.
Held on March 22, 2026, at the Mekong Institute in Khon Kaen, the event was attended by H.E. Mr. Jonathan Kings, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand, together with representatives from Massey University, New Zealand, and Khon Kaen University administrators.
Representing the Faculty of Medicine were Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, and Assistant Professor Supawan Laohasiriwong, Assistant for International Relations and Corporate Communication. During the event, they joined networking and academic matching sessions and met with representatives from Massey University to discuss possible areas of collaboration between the two institutions.
The discussion covered several areas of mutual interest, including student and staff exchange in medical illustration, as well as joint research in sleep medicine and the health effects of contaminated water — all of which are closely connected to contemporary public health and medical challenges.
Massey University is widely recognized for its strengths in research and interdisciplinary scholarship, particularly in areas related to health, science, and sustainable development. Those strengths make it a promising academic partner for the Faculty of Medicine, whose international engagement increasingly centers on research with practical relevance to healthcare and society.
For the Faculty of Medicine, the meeting was more than a formal introduction. It provided an opportunity to identify practical areas in which the two institutions may be able to work together — from academic exchange and teaching collaboration to research with direct relevance to public health and medical education.
The exchange also laid the groundwork for future collaboration between the two institutions, with opportunities to expand academic exchange, develop joint research, and strengthen institutional links in areas of shared interest.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เข้าร่วมงาน “New Zealand – Thailand Strengthening Partnership in Khon Kaen” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเนื่องในโอกาส ครบรอบ 70 ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ เมื่อวันที่ 22 มีนาคม 2569 ณ สถาบันความร่วมมือเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจลุ่มน้ำโขง (Mekong Institute) จังหวัดขอนแก่น โดยภายในงานได้รับเกียรติจาก H.E. Massey University เป็นหนึ่งในมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ และได้รับการยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติด้านความเข้มแข็งทางวิชาการและการวิจัย โดยเฉพาะงานวิจัยแบบสหสาขาที่เชื่อมโยงกับประเด็นด้านสุขภาพ วิทยาศาสตร์ และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน ซึ่งมีความสอดคล้องกับทิศทางการพัฒนางานวิชาการและงานวิจัยของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น

On 24 March 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, had the honor of welcoming Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak, Professor of Comparative Medicine and Director of Anesthesia, Pain Management, and Surgery in the Department of Comparative Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, USA, who is internationally renowned for his expertise in comparative medicine, anesthesiology, pain management, and surgery, on the occasion of his visit to the Faculty to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
During the visit, Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai, Vice Dean for Research and Innovation, warmly welcomed Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak and joined discussions on potential areas of collaboration in translational research, as well as research involving the use of laboratory animals to support medical education and health sciences under appropriate ethical standards and research practices.
Another important activity during the visit was a research discussion with faculty members from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, led by Professor Poungrat Pakdeechote, Head of the Department, together with senior faculty members and researchers, as well as Associate Professor Charupong Saengboonmee from the Department of Biochemistry. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on translational research and to explore potential areas for future academic and research collaboration.
In addition to the collaborative discussion, Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak delivered a special lecture entitled “One Health, One Pain: A Collaborative Model for Translational Analgesia” to faculty members, physicians, veterinarians, and researchers at Khon Kaen University. The lecture attracted strong interest from participants and highlighted the importance of integrating knowledge in human and animal health to advance both research and clinical care more effectively.
The event was also honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Naruepon Khampa, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University, who joined the lecture and exchanged views on issues related to the use of medication and pain management in laboratory animals in support of research conducted in accordance with animal welfare principles and international standards.
Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak is an internationally recognized expert in Comparative Medicine, Anesthesia, Pain Management, Surgery, and Translational Research. He has played a significant role in advancing ethical standards in laboratory animal care, pain management research, and the generation of knowledge that bridges laboratory-based science with clinical application. He has also actively contributed to building academic collaboration networks in key areas such as One Health and translational research.
This visit and academic exchange mark another important step in strengthening collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and experts from world-leading institutions. Such partnerships will further enhance the Faculty’s research and innovation capacity and contribute to the development of knowledge that supports the sustainable advancement of Thailand’s healthcare system.

เมื่อวันที่ 24 มีนาคม 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ให้การต้อนรับ ศาสตราจารย์ชลวัฒน์ พัชรินทร์ศักดิ์ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้าน เวชศาสตร์สัตว์ทดลอง วิสัญญีวิทยา การจัดการความปวด และการผ่าตัด จาก Stanford University School of Medicine สหรัฐอเมริกา ในโอกาสเดินทางมาเยือนคณะแพทยศาสตร์ เพื่อหารือแนวทางการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและงานวิจัยระหว่างสถาบัน
ในการนี้ รองศาสตราจารย์ ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ และ ศาสตราจารย์ศิริรัตน์ อนุตระกูลชัย รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและนวัตกรรม ร่วมให้การต้อนรับและหารือถึงแนวทางการพัฒนาความร่วมมือด้าน Translational Research รวมถึงงานศึกษาวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้สัตว์ทดลองเพื่อสนับสนุนการศึกษาทางการแพทย์และวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ ภายใต้มาตรฐานและหลักจริยธรรมที่เหมาะสม
อีกหนึ่งกิจกรรมสำคัญของการเยือนครั้งนี้ คือการเข้าหารือด้านการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิจัยกับคณาจารย์จากสาขาวิชาสรีรวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย ศาสตราจารย์พวงรัตน์ ภักดีโชติ หัวหน้าสาขาวิชา พร้อมด้วยคณาจารย์และนักวิจัยอาวุโสของสาขาวิชา รวมถึง รองศาสตราจารย์จารุพงษ์ แสงบุญมี จากสาขาวิชาชีวเคมี เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และหารือแนวทางการต่อยอดความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัยเชิงแปลผลและประเด็นวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องในอนาคต

In a move to strengthen healthcare standards across Southeast Asia, the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has hosted a high-level delegation from Singapore’s National University Health System (NUHS).
The visit, led by world-renowned expert Professor David Koh Soo Quee and Program Director Dr. Joshua Wong Shiu Hong, marks a significant expansion of the International Residency Exchange Programme in Occupational Medicine.
The delegation, comprising 12 senior specialists and residents, met with Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, to discuss the evolving challenges of workplace health in the ASEAN region.
Beyond the boardroom, the exchange focused on the practicalities of industrial safety. Experts from both nations shared clinical insights on the “Return to Work” protocol—a critical framework for ensuring injured employees can safely re-enter the workforce.
Professor Nesinee Chaiear, a leading voice in Thai occupational medicine, provided the visitors with a deep dive into the local industrial landscape, followed by a series of technical presentations by residents from both Singapore and Thailand.
The collaboration extended into the heart of Thailand’s industrial sector. The Singaporean team visited the Khon Kaen Fishing Net Factory, one of the region’s major employers, to observe risk management in a real-world manufacturing environment. This was paired with a tour of the Occupational Medicine Clinic at Srinagarind Hospital, highlighting the integration of clinical excellence and field safety.
The visit is expected to pave the way for joint research projects and a more unified curriculum in occupational health, ensuring that doctors in both Singapore and Thailand are equipped to handle the complexities of modern industrial diseases.

เมื่อวันที่ 23 มีนาคม 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์รศ.ธรรศ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร ให้การต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนจาก National University Health System (NUHS) ประเทศสิงคโปร์ ในโอกาสเดินทางมาแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ภายใต้โครงการ International Residency Exchange Programme: Occupational Medicine

นอกจากนี้ คณะผู้แทนยังได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมคลินิกอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ และศึกษาดูงานด้านความปลอดภัยและอาชีวอนามัย ณ โรงงานแหอวนขอนแก่น เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการจัดการความเสี่ยงในภาคอุตสาหกรรมจริง
การมาเยือนในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นก้าวย่างสำคัญในการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทางวิชาการทวิภาคี ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่ความร่วมมือในการพัฒนาหลักสูตรและการวิจัยในระดับสากล เพื่อสุขภาวะที่ดีของประชากรวัยทำงานในภูมิภาคอาเซียนสืบไป
