The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently hosted Dr. Mr. Theenaphark Phanthavong, a third-year resident doctor from the University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR, for an elective program in Emergency Medicine. Running from February 1 to February 28, 2025, the program took place at Srinagarind Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine, offering hands-on clinical training and knowledge exchange.
This initiative is part of the Thailand-Lao PDR medical collaboration, aimed at equipping Lao doctors with advanced emergency care skills while elevating healthcare standards in ASEAN.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) ต้อนรับ Dr. Mr. Theenaphark Phanthavong แพทย์ประจำบ้านชั้นปีที่ 3 จากมหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ สปป. ลาว เพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการ ศึกษาดูงานและแลกเปลี่ยนด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน (Elective Program in Emergency Medicine) ระหว่างวันที่ 1 กุมภาพันธ์ – 28 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 ณ ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์
โครงการดังกล่าวเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ ความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ไทย-ลาว ซึ่งมุ่งเสริมสร้างทักษะและประสบการณ์ให้แก่แพทย์จากประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน พร้อมยกระดับการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินในภูมิภาค อาเซียน ให้มีมาตรฐานสูงขึ้น
เสริมสร้างทักษะด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินผ่านการฝึกปฏิบัติจริง
แพทย์จาก สปป. ลาว ได้เข้าร่วมเรียนรู้และฝึกปฏิบัติใน ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์รับส่งต่อผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินระดับตติยภูมิที่สำคัญของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ โดยมีกิจกรรมหลัก ได้แก่

ก้าวสู่อนาคตของเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินในอาเซียน
การแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินครั้งนี้ เป็นอีกหนึ่งความสำเร็จของ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ในการเป็น ศูนย์กลางทางการแพทย์ของภูมิภาค โดยหวังว่าความร่วมมือครั้งนี้จะช่วยยกระดับมาตรฐานการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินและสร้างเครือข่ายทางการแพทย์ที่เข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต
Medicine is more than a science—it is a bridge that connects knowledge, cultures, and friendships across borders. At the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU), Thailand, international medical students from Laos, Japan, and Indonesia embarked on a transformative journey through the Medical Exchange Program, held from January 6–31, 2025.
This initiative not only provided participants with hands-on clinical training under expert physicians but also immersed them in Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, fostering a deeper connection between medicine and tradition.
A Global Collaboration in Medical Education
This year’s exchange welcomed distinguished participants, including Dr. Vilaphon Phanthaly and Dr. Soulideth Xongchacksinh from the University of Health Sciences, Laos; Ms. Momoka Yoshino from Gifu University, Japan; Ms. Felicia Averine from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia; and a group of medical students from Nagoya City University, Japan, namely Ms. Ami Suzuki, Ms. Ayane Tokumaru, Ms. Natsumi Fukushima, Ms. Yuriko Akashi, Mr. Taishi Masutani, Mr. Takayuki Matsui, and Mr. Takehiro Ando.
These future medical professionals engaged in Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Orthopedics at Srinagarind Hospital, gaining insight into Thailand’s healthcare system, enhancing their clinical skills, and working alongside Thai medical teams.
Where Medicine Meets Culture
Beyond clinical training, the exchange fostered a deep cultural appreciation through engaging activities with Thai cooperative education students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University: Miss Sumitta Buaphaeng, Miss Ratchanikon Thatuwisai, Miss Kotchakorn Onjangreed (Eastern Languages, Chinese Major), Mr. Patiwat Srisaard and Miss Korakod Onjangreed (Thai Language Major)
Through their guidance, international students explored Thai traditions while sharing their own cultural heritage, creating an environment of mutual learning and friendship.
🔹 The Delicate Art of Pandan Leaf Folding – Thai students introduced the intricate craft of folding pandan leaves into floral designs, a symbol of Thai craftsmanship and hospitality.
🔹 Origami: A Symbol of Peace and Precision – Japanese students shared the art of origami, folding paper into delicate cranes and other symbolic shapes that represent patience, harmony, and hope.
🔹 Lao Folk Songs and Traditional Dance – Students from Laos showcased folk music and traditional dance, offering a glimpse into their nation’s vibrant cultural identity and storytelling through movement.
🔹 A Taste of Indonesia: Kue Talam – Indonesian students prepared Kue Talam, a traditional dessert with a soft, coconut-rich texture similar to Thailand’s “Tako”, further highlighting the shared culinary traditions of Southeast Asia.
This cross-cultural exchange fostered meaningful connections, mutual respect, and a sense of unity that extended beyond the hospital walls.
More Than Just an Exchange—A Lifetime Connection
This program was more than just medical training—it was a platform for building lifelong friendships and international collaboration. Through this experience, students gained not only medical expertise but also an appreciation for cultural diversity and shared humanity in the field of healthcare.

แพทย์ไร้พรมแดน มิตรภาพไร้ขีดจำกัด! นักศึกษาแพทย์นานาชาติร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และวัฒนธรรม ณ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข.
เมื่อศาสตร์แห่งการแพทย์มาบรรจบกับศิลปะทางวัฒนธรรม บทเรียนที่เกิดขึ้นจึงเป็นมากกว่าความรู้ในตำรา แต่เป็นสายใยแห่งมิตรภาพที่ไร้พรมแดน คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์จาก ลาว ญี่ปุ่น และอินโดนีเซีย ในโครงการ Medical Exchange Program ซึ่งจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 6 – 31 มกราคม 2568 โดยนักศึกษากลุ่มนี้ไม่เพียงได้รับการฝึกอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการจากทีมแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ แต่ยังได้สัมผัสมนต์เสน่ห์ของวัฒนธรรมไทยผ่านกิจกรรมสร้างสรรค์ร่วมกับนักศึกษาไทย

เมื่อศาสตร์การแพทย์พบกับศิลปะทางวัฒนธรรม
ระหว่างการฝึกอบรมในโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ นักศึกษาแพทย์กลุ่มนี้ได้เรียนรู้แนวทางการรักษาในบริบทของไทย เสริมทักษะด้านคลินิกและการดูแลผู้ป่วย แต่ที่น่าประทับใจยิ่งกว่าคือช่วงเวลาที่พวกเขาได้เรียนรู้ ศิลปะวัฒนธรรมไทย ร่วมกับ นักศึกษาฝึกงานสหกิจศึกษาจากคณะมนุษยศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้แก่ นางสาวสุมิตตา บัวแพง, นางสาวรัชนีกร ธาตุวิสัย, นางสาวกชกร อ่อนจังหรีด, นายปฏิวัติ ศรีสอาด, และนางสาวกรกฎ อ่อนจังหรีด
นักศึกษาแพทย์ต่างชาติได้เรียนรู้ การพับดอกไม้จากใบเตย ศิลปะที่สะท้อนถึงความละเอียดอ่อนของงานฝีมือไทย ขณะเดียวกัน นักศึกษาแพทย์ญี่ปุ่นได้สอน ศิลปะโอริกามิ โดยพับกระดาษเป็นรูปนกและรูปทรงต่าง ๆ ที่สื่อถึงความหวังและความสงบ ด้านนักศึกษาแพทย์จากลาวได้นำ บทเพลงพื้นบ้านและการเต้นรำลาว มาสร้างสีสัน สะท้อนถึงมรดกทางดนตรีของประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน
ความน่าสนใจอีกอย่างของกิจกรรมแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้คือ นักศึกษาแพทย์จากอินโดนีเซีย ที่ได้ทำ Kue Talam ขนมหวานพื้นเมืองที่มีลักษณะคล้าย ตะโก้ไทย มาแบ่งปันให้เพื่อน ๆ ได้ลิ้มลอง รสชาติหอมมันจากกะทิและเนื้อสัมผัสนุ่มของแป้งสาคู ทำให้กิจกรรมครั้งนี้อบอวลไปด้วยกลิ่นอายของความอบอุ่นและมิตรภาพ
ความทรงจำที่มากกว่าการเรียนรู้
โครงการแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้ ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงโอกาสในการเรียนรู้แนวทางการแพทย์ที่แตกต่าง แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่แห่ง มิตรภาพและความเข้าใจ ที่ก้าวข้ามพรมแดน นักศึกษาแพทย์จากแต่ละประเทศได้สัมผัสถึง จิตวิญญาณของการแพทย์ที่มุ่งช่วยเหลือเพื่อนมนุษย์ ในขณะเดียวกัน ก็ได้รับโอกาส แลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมที่หลอมรวมให้พวกเขาใกล้ชิดกันมากขึ้น

Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine continues to strengthen global academic collaboration by welcoming medical students and residents from Laos, Japan, and Indonesia to its Elective Exchange Program and Clinical Exchange Program from January 6 – 31, 2025.
Over the course of the program, students gained hands-on clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Orthopedics, working alongside Thai medical professionals at Srinagarind Hospital, one of Thailand’s leading teaching hospitals. The initiative not only enhances medical expertise but also fosters cross-cultural understanding and global networking among future healthcare professionals.

นักศึกษาแพทย์จาก Nagoya City University ประเทศญี่ปุ่นแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ทางคลินิกที่คณะแพทย์ฯ มข
เมื่อวันที่ 20 มกราคม 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ให้การต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 5 จำนวน 7 คน จาก Nagoya City University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ในโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนเพื่อเรียนรู้ประสบการณ์ทางคลินิก ณ สาขาวิชาออร์โธปิดิกส์ ระหว่างวันที่ 21-30 มกราคม 2568 นักศึกษาที่เข้าร่วมโครงการประกอบไปด้วย
ในวันแรกของโครงการ นักศึกษาได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมปฐมนิเทศที่จัดขึ้นโดยงานวิเทศสัมพันธ์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ซึ่งมีกิจกรรมที่หลากหลาย เช่น การแนะนำข้อมูลเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นและคณะแพทยศาสตร์ การเยี่ยมชมสถานที่สำคัญภายในมหาวิทยาลัย การทดลองใช้ระบบขนส่งมวลชนมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น หรือ KKU Smart Transit (KST) การเรียนภาษาไทยเบื้องต้นเพื่อการสื่อสารในชีวิตประจำวัน
โครงการแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อให้นักศึกษาแพทย์จากญี่ปุ่นได้รับความรู้และประสบการณ์ทางด้านออร์โธปิดิกส์ พร้อมทั้งส่งเสริมความเข้าใจทางวัฒนธรรมและสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างสองประเทศ นอกจากนี้ โครงการยังเปิดโอกาสในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและการวิจัยที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อวงการแพทย์
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น หวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าโครงการดังกล่าวจะเป็นรากฐานสำคัญในการขยายความร่วมมือทางการศึกษาและการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ทางการแพทย์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งจะก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดต่อทั้งนักศึกษา คณาจารย์ และบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ของทั้งสองประเทศในอนาคต

2025年1月20日，孔敬大学医学部热烈欢迎来自日本名古屋市立大学的7名五年级医学生，参加于2025年1月21日至30日在骨科系开展的临床经验交流项目。参与本次项目的学生包括：
项目的第一天，医学部国际事务办公室组织了迎新活动，内容丰富多样，包括介绍孔敬大学及医学部的基本信息、参观校园重要场所、体验孔敬大学智能交通系统（KKU Smart Transit, KST），以及基础泰语学习，帮助学生掌握日常生活交流所需的语言技能。
此次交流项目旨在帮助日本医学生提升骨科领域的专业知识和实践经验，同时促进文化理解，增进两国友谊。此外，该项目还为推动学术合作与医学研究提供了契机，为医疗领域的发展作出贡献。
孔敬大学医学部深信，本项目将成为泰国与日本在医学教育及知识交流领域深化合作的重要基础，为两国的学生、教师及医务工作者带来最大益处，推动未来共同进步。

The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, is pleased to welcome medical students from Nagoya City University, Japan, under the Elective Exchange Program, which is being held over a two-week period from January 7 to 16, 2025. The program aims to promote the exchange of academic knowledge and medical experiences, while fostering mutual understanding of cultural differences between the two countries.
The medical students participating in the program include:
Throughout the program, the students participated in various medical activities, including observing surgeries to acquire surgical techniques, studying patients in the clinic to refine diagnostic skills, exchanging perspectives on patient management with faculty and medical staff, and engaging in simulation exercises to enhance their clinical competence and confidence in the field of orthopedics at the Faculty of Medicine.
In addition, the students had the opportunity to experience Thai culture through various activities, such as visiting significant landmarks at Khon Kaen University, touring key locations in Khon Kaen province, and participating in recreational activities that fostered positive relationships between Thai and Japanese students.
This Elective Exchange Program not only provided an opportunity for the students to develop their professional skills but also played a key role in strengthening the relationship between the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and Nagoya City University. It marks an important step in promoting sustainable international cooperation in the field of medicine.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์จาก Nagoya City University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ในโครงการ Elective Exchange Program ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเป็นระยะเวลา 2 สัปดาห์
ตั้งแต่วันที่ 7 – 16 มกราคม 2568 โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ทางวิชาการและประสบการณ์ทางด้านการแพทย์ พร้อมทั้งสร้างความเข้าใจอันดีในด้านวัฒนธรรมระหว่างสองประเทศ
นักศึกษาแพทย์ที่เข้าร่วมโครงการ ประกอบด้วย:
ตลอดระยะเวลาในโครงการ นักศึกษาได้ร่วมกิจกรรมทางการแพทย์ที่หลากหลาย อาทิ การเข้าห้องผ่าตัดเพื่อเรียนรู้เทคนิคการผ่าตัด การศึกษาผู้ป่วยในคลินิกเพื่อฝึกฝนการวินิจฉัย การแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการรักษาผู้ป่วยกับอาจารย์และเจ้าหน้าที่ทางการแพทย์ และการฝึกปฏิบัติในสถานการณ์จำลอง

Lao doctors and medical technicians have taken the stage at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine to present their achievements following months of intensive clinical training and study. The event, designed to foster international collaboration and knowledge sharing, highlighted the transformative potential of cross-border medical exchange programs in Southeast Asia.
Representing the University of Health Sciences in Laos, these medical professionals shared their learnings from hands-on experience in specialized fields, sparking conversations on innovations and future collaborations between the two nations.
Emergency Medicine: Life-Saving Skills in Critical Situations
Dr. Ms. Nanthida Lithideth and Dr. Ms. Soulinthone Phimmasone, third-year residents in emergency medicine, detailed their four-week training program at Khon Kaen University’s Emergency Medicine Department. Their presentation explored advanced protocols for managing critical patients, shedding light on state-of-the-art approaches in emergency care.
Pathology: Decoding Genetics for Precision Medicine
Dr. Thatsavanh Keovongsong, a specialist in chromosome diagnostics, showcased his six-month journey in the Department of Pathology. His work focused on genetic analysis and its applications in disease diagnosis, demonstrating how advanced technologies can transform patient outcomes.
Immunology: Strengthening Diagnostic Capabilities
Mr. Airr Yeuanmany, a medical laboratory technician specializing in immunology, presented his contributions to clinical diagnostics during a six-month stint at Srinagarind Hospital’s Laboratory Medicine unit. His insights into immunological testing underscored the critical role of laboratory precision in modern healthcare.
The event wasn’t merely a platform for presentations; it became a powerful narrative of collaboration, with each participant representing a bridge between the healthcare systems of Laos and Thailand.
Khon Kaen University, a recognized leader in regional medical education, sees this initiative as a step toward building a more interconnected healthcare community. The exchange has inspired discussions on expanding future programs to include more diverse specialties and larger participant cohorts.
