Leuven, Belgium – November 19–21, 2025: Senior leaders from Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand, led by Mr. Surapon Petch-vra, Vice Chairman of the KKU Council, and Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU, along with the executive team of the Faculty of Medicine, visited the Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven, to participate in the prestigious International Health Partner Days 600. The event marked the 600th anniversary of KU Leuven, celebrating its centuries-long tradition of excellence and innovation in medicine, as one of Europe’s oldest and most influential medical universities.

The conference served as a high-level platform to strengthen academic and medical collaboration between KU Leuven and partner universities worldwide. KKU was invited as an official participant, providing the opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore collaboration opportunities with senior executives from medical faculties across the globe. The KKU delegation included:

Global Insights into Medical Excellence, Education, and Innovation

On November 19, 2025, the KKU delegation attended high-level lectures on institutional management, organizational development, and strategies for sustainable success delivered by KU Leuven executives. Prof. Chris Van Geet, Honorary Vice Rector of the Biomedical Sciences Group, presented an overview of KU Leuven’s administration and global strategies for excellence. Prof. Chris Verslype, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, shared insights on faculty management and medical curriculum development. Prof. Paul Herijgers, CEO of University Hospitals Leuven, and Prof. Gert Van Assche, Chief Medical Officer, discussed hospital management strategies and innovations in healthcare delivery. Ms. Tine Van Lommel, Coordinator of KU Leuven KICK and Innovation Manager at Leuven Research & Development, presented programs cultivating student innovation and entrepreneurship, a key driver of medical and scientific progress.

During the conference, KKU executives engaged with leaders from top institutions worldwide to discuss contemporary medical education management, hospital administration, and strategies for university development, fostering collaborations with tangible impact.

Exploring “Learning Beyond Borders”

On November 20, 2025, KKU leaders participated in the “Learning Beyond Borders – A Shared Journey” session, featuring lectures from executives, faculty, researchers, and alumni from multiple countries. Highlights included the keynote “Hospital Quality Management as a Cornerstone for Trust” by Prof. Dirk De Ridder, Strategic Director of the Flemish Hospital Network KU Leuven; the Alumna Journey from the Master of Bioethics by Prof. Esther Munalula Nkandua (University of Zambia) with Prof. Yvonne Denier and Prof. Pascal Borry; the Student Journey “Beyond the Big Five: A Unique Internship Journey at Stellenbosch University” by Ruben Corluy with Prof. Fabienne Dobbels; the Partner Journey “Personal Trust as a Foundation for Sustainable Partnerships” by Martín Everett with Ms. Hilde Groenen; a Partner Journey from the Master of Dentistry by Prof. Andrés Eduardo Torres García; and “Biomedicine Without Borders” from the Master of Biomedical Sciences by Prof. Przemko Tylzanowski.

The KKU delegation also joined “Building a Legacy & the Future of Mobility,” a key event which focused on academic exchange, international program development, and trends in global mobility. KKU leaders attended lectures and engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions with program directors, including Prof. Nathalie Rommel (Master in Deglutology), Prof. Lies Langouche (Biomedical Research Programs), Prof. Yvonne Denier (Master of Bioethics), Prof. Astrid van Wieringen (Master of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences), Prof. Mieke Verstuyf (Master of Biomedical Sciences), Prof. Maria Cadenas de Llano Perula (Master of Dentistry), Prof. Bert Bammens (Master in Medicine), and Prof. Theo van Achterberg (Master of Nursing and Midwifery). These sessions provided valuable insights into emerging trends and innovations in medical education, enhancing KKU’s understanding and serving as a foundation for expanding international programs and elevating the university’s educational quality to global standards.

 

 

Meeting of Minds & Institutional Tours

On November 21, 2025, the KKU delegation participated in the “Meeting of Minds – Matchmaking” session, designed as Speed Dating: Table Talks for Tomorrow, allowing one-on-one discussions with KU Leuven program directors and exchange coordinators, = allowing them to explore concrete avenues for future collaboration in education, research, and clinical training.  Beyond discussions, the delegation toured KU Leuven’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the STEPS Skills Centre, the Anatomy and Surgical Skills Technologies Centre, and the Teaching and Learning Unit, learning about innovative approaches to medical education, hospital management, and clinical training.

Strengthening Global Medical Partnerships

The International Health Partner Days 600 served as a pivotal milestone for KKU to expand its global network with leading European and international medical institutions. The event facilitated collaborations in student and staff exchanges, curriculum development, biomedical research, medical innovation, clinical training, and hospital management.

KKU’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing global medical education, fostering impactful international partnerships, and positioning the university as a world-class institution in healthcare and academic excellence.

ผู้บริหาร มข. เข้าร่วมงาน International Health Partner Days 600 ที่ KU Leuven ดันความร่วมมือแพทย์โลก ฉลอง 600 ปีแห่งความเป็นเลิศการแพทย์

คณะผู้บริหารระดับสูงจากมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) นำโดย นายสุรพล เพชรวรา อุปนายกสภามหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และ รศ. นพ. ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น พร้อมคณะผู้บริหารคณะแพทยศาสตร์ เดินทางเยือน Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven ประเทศเบลเยียม ระหว่างวันที่ 19–21 พฤศจิกายน 2568 เพื่อเข้าร่วมประชุมระดับนานาชาติ Faculty of Medicine’s International Health Partner Days 600 เนื่องในวาระเฉลิม––ฉลอง 600 ปีแห่งความเป็นเลิศด้านการแพทย์และนวัตกรรมของ KU Leuven ซึ่งถือเป็นหนึ่งในมหาวิทยาลัยทางการแพทย์ที่เก่าแก่และทรงอิทธิพลที่สุดของยุโรป

เจาะลึกแนวคิด “Learning beyond borders” แลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ข้ามพรมแดน

วันที่ 20 พฤศจิกายน 2568 คณะผู้บริหาร มข. ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุม Learning beyond borders – a shared journey และรับฟังการบรรยายจากผู้บริหาร อาจารย์ นักวิจัย และศิษย์เก่าจากหลายประเทศ นำเสนอประสบการณ์และแนวคิดเชิงลึกในด้านการบริหารโรงพยาบาล การส่งเสริมการศึกษานานาชาติ และการสร้างความร่วมมือข้ามพรมแดน โดยมีไฮไลต์สำคัญ ได้แก่ การบริหารคุณภาพโรงพยาบาลเพื่อสร้างความเชื่อมั่นของผู้ป่วย (Prof. Dirk De Ridder) ประสบการณ์หลักสูตร Master of Bioethics (Prof. Esther Munalula Nkandua, Prof. Yvonne Denier, Prof. Pascal Borry) การพัฒนาศักยภาพพยาบาลและผดุงครรภ์ผ่านฝึกงานนานาชาติ (Ruben Corluy, Prof. Fabienne Dobbels) และการสร้างความร่วมมือที่ยั่งยืนผ่านความไว้วางใจ (Martín Everett, Ms. Hilde Groenen) นอกจากนี้ยังมีการนำเสนอความร่วมมือด้านหลักสูตร Master of Dentistry (Prof. Andrés Eduardo Torres García) และ Biomedicine without Borders (Prof. Przemko Tylzanowski) ซึ่งสะท้อนบทบาทของ Master of Biomedical Sciences ในการเชื่อมโยงเครือข่ายวิชาการระดับโลก

วันที่ 21 พฤศจิกายน 2568 คณะผู้บริหารมข. ได้เข้าร่วม Meeting of Minds Matchmaking ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในไฮไลต์ของงาน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างเครือข่าย แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ และหารือความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษาและวิจัยระหว่างประเทศ กิจกรรมนี้จัดในรูปแบบ Speed Dating: Table Talks for Tomorrow เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้เข้าร่วมพบปะกับ ประธานหลักสูตรและผู้ประสานงานการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาของ KU Leuven แบบตัวต่อตัว เพื่อเจาะลึกประเด็นที่สนใจ ตอบข้อสงสัย และวางแนวทางความร่วมมือในอนาคต

เสริมความแข็งแกร่งสู่ความร่วมมือแพทย์ระดับโลก

การประชุม International Health Partner Days 600 ครั้งนี้ถือเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นในการขยายเครือข่ายระดับสากลกับสถาบันแพทย์ชั้นนำของยุโรปและนานาชาติ โดยเปิดประตูสู่ความร่วมมือเชิงวิชาการและวิจัยที่ครอบคลุมหลายมิติ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและบุคลากร การพัฒนาหลักสูตร การวิจัยด้านชีวเวชศาสตร์ นวัตกรรมการแพทย์ ตลอดจนความร่วมมือด้านการฝึกอบรมคลินิกและการบริหารโรงพยาบาล

การเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญที่สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นในการยกระดับบทบาทสู่การเป็นสถาบันการแพทย์ระดับโลกอย่างยั่งยืน และเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของความร่วมมือที่สามารถสร้างผลลัพธ์เชิงประจักษ์และต่อยอดได้ในอนาคต

 

 

On November 3, 2025, the Department of Community, Family, and Occupational Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, officially launched the Training Program: Fundamental of Occupational Health and Occupational Medicine, held from November 3–28, 2025. The program is supported by the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

This international training program aims to enhance the knowledge and competencies of healthcare professionals in the field of occupational health and occupational medicine. The program has attracted participants and experts from various countries across the globe.

 

 

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Olan Suwan-apichon, MD, Vice Dean for Human Resources, who delivered the opening remarks, stating that:

“This training program reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting international collaboration and capacity building, especially among healthcare professionals from many countries. We believe that by sharing experiences and expertise, we can collectively strengthen the systems that protect and promote workers’ health and safety across different contexts.”

The training course covers a wide range of essential topics, including the principles of occupational health and occupational medicine, occupational health and safety standards, occupational health services, health risk assessment, and occupational disease case studies. These sessions aim to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health practices and their application in diverse work environments. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in factory visits, allowing them to observe and learn from real-world examples of workplace health and safety management.

This program demonstrates the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University’s strong commitment to fostering international collaboration and strengthening global capacity in occupational health and medicine — ultimately contributing to safer and healthier workplaces worldwide.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. จัดอบรมอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ระดับโลก แลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ระหว่างผู้เชี่ยวชาญนานาชาติ

เมื่อวันที่ 3 พฤศจิกายน 2568 ณ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น สาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ชุมชน เวชศาสตร์ครอบครัว และอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ ได้จัดพิธีเปิดการฝึกอบรมนานาชาติ “Fundamental of Occupational Health and Occupational Medicine” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 3–28 พฤศจิกายน 2568 โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากกรมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ

โครงการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาความรู้และทักษะของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์และสาธารณสุขในด้านอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ โดยมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญและผู้เข้าร่วมจากหลายประเทศทั่วโลกให้ความสนใจเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้

ในพิธีเปิดได้รับเกียรติจาก ศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์โอฬาร สุวรรณอภิชน รองคณบดีฝ่ายทรัพยากรบุคคล คณะแพทยศาสตร์ เป็นประธานกล่าวเปิดงาน โดยกล่าวว่า

“โครงการฝึกอบรมในครั้งนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความมุ่งมั่นอย่างต่อเนื่องของเราในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศและการพัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคลากร โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในกลุ่มบุคลากรทางการแพทย์และผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากหลากหลายประเทศ เราเชื่อว่าการแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์และองค์ความรู้จะช่วยให้เราสามารถร่วมกันเสริมสร้างระบบที่คุ้มครองและส่งเสริมสุขภาพและความปลอดภัยของผู้ปฏิบัติงานในบริบทที่แตกต่างกันได้อย่างเข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้น”

หลักสูตรการอบรมในครั้งนี้ครอบคลุมเนื้อหาที่สำคัญเกี่ยวกับหลักการของอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ มาตรฐานด้านความปลอดภัยและอาชีวอนามัย การให้บริการอาชีวอนามัย การประเมินความเสี่ยงด้านสุขภาพ ตลอดจนการวิเคราะห์กรณีศึกษาโรคจากการทำงาน เพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้าใจอย่างรอบด้านในทุกมิติของการดูแลสุขภาพแรงงาน นอกจากนี้ ผู้เข้าร่วมยังจะได้มีโอกาสเยี่ยมชมสถานประกอบการจริงเพื่อเรียนรู้การประยุกต์ใช้ความรู้ด้านอาชีวอนามัยในบริบทของสถานที่ทำงานจริง

การจัดอบรมครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ และพัฒนาขีดความสามารถของบุคลากรด้านอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานสุขภาพและความปลอดภัยของแรงงานในระดับโลก

 

 

The Department of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU), had the honor of hosting the “GMS–One Health Workshop“ from August 27-29, 2025. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of health professionals and strengthen collaborative networks in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) under the “One Health” concept, which integrates the health of humans, animals, and the environment. The event brought together over 30 participants from five countries: Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, China, and Thailand, and was supported by the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund.

Day 1: A New Dimension of Collaboration

The official opening ceremony was held at the Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid Hotel. Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, delivered a warm welcome to all international participants. This was followed by the opening address from Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, MD, President of Khon Kaen University, who emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in addressing today’s complex health challenges.

Participants also attended special lectures from leading Thai experts. Prof. Banchob Sripa, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Control of Opisthorchiasis, provided an overview of the project and the significance of the One Health approach in the GMS. In his keynote address, Assoc. Prof. Parntep Ratanakorn, a Technical Consultant for the Thailand National Wildlife Health Center and Secretary General of AEFT, shared valuable lessons and practical experiences in implementing One Health solutions in the region. In addition, participants engaged in ice-breaking activities to foster familiarity and create an initial platform for informal idea exchange.

Day 2: A Hands–on Experience with the “Lawa Model“

A major highlight of the workshop was a field visit to the Lawa community in Ban Phai District, Khon Kaen, a successful model for integrated liver fluke control known as the “Lawa Model.” Participants observed demonstrations by local village health volunteers on how they systematically prevent and control the disease. They also visited Banlawa School, a “liver fluke–free school” model that instills awareness in students from a young age.

The group also toured local households producing fermented fish and learned how to raise awareness of the risk factors for liver fluke infection, allowing them to gain a thorough understanding of the disease’s life cycle. The session included a demonstration of fishing in Lawa Lake and preparing local dishes like “Koi Pla,” which helped participants grasp the cultural context of disease transmission. Additionally, Prof. Sirikachorn Tangkawawattana, a Veterinary Pathobiology expert, shared knowledge on pet healthcare and the use of GPS technology to track animal reservoirs.

Day 3: Learning and Laying the Foundation for the Future

On the final day, participants presented and exchanged insights on the “Lessons Learned from Lawa Model“ and their “OH Applications.” They explored ways to apply the One Health concept within their own national contexts. This collaborative session not only summarized the knowledge gained but also solidified a strong network among health professionals from various countries. This network is expected to be a crucial driving force in building holistic health security for the people of the Greater Mekong Sub-region in the long term.

มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เจ้าภาพจัดเวิร์กช็อประดับนานาชาติ “GMS–One Health” เน้นสร้างความร่วมมือเพื่อรับมือกับความท้าทายด้านสุขภาพในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขง

มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) โดยสาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์เขตร้อน คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ได้รับเกียรติเป็นเจ้าภาพ จัดงาน “GMS–One Health Workshop“ ระหว่างวันที่ 27-29 สิงหาคม 2568 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสริมสร้างศักยภาพบุคลากรและเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้านสุขภาพในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขง (Greater Mekong Sub-region: GMS) ภายใต้แนวคิด “One Health” หรือสุขภาพหนึ่งเดียว ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางที่ผสานสุขภาพของคน สัตว์ และสิ่งแวดล้อมเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน งานครั้งนี้มีผู้เข้าร่วมกว่า 30 คน จาก 5 ประเทศ ได้แก่ เมียนมา เวียดนาม ลาว จีน และประเทศไทย และได้รับการสนับสนุนจากกองทุนพิเศษความร่วมมือแม่โขง-ล้านช้าง (Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund)

วันแรก: เปิดมิติใหม่แห่งความร่วมมือ

พิธีเปิดงานจัดขึ้นอย่างเป็นทางการ ณ โรงแรมพูลแมน ขอนแก่น ราชา ออร์คิด โดยได้รับเกียรติจาก รศ.นพ. ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ กล่าวต้อนรับผู้เข้าร่วมงานจากนานาชาติอย่างอบอุ่น ตามด้วยการกล่าวเปิดงานโดย รศ.นพ.ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ที่เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของความร่วมมือในระดับภูมิภาคในการรับมือกับความท้าทายด้านสุขภาพที่ซับซ้อนในปัจจุบัน

นอกจากนี้ ผู้เข้าร่วมยังได้ฟังการบรรยายพิเศษจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับแนวหน้าของไทย โดย ศ.บรรจบ ศรีภา ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์ความร่วมมือองค์การอนามัยโลกด้านการวิจัยและควบคุมโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ ได้นำเสนอภาพรวมของโครงการและความสำคัญของแนวคิด One Health ในอนุภูมิภาคนี้ ขณะที่ รศ.น.สพ.ปานเทพ รัตนากร ที่ปรึกษาด้านเทคนิคศูนย์สุขภาพสัตว์ป่าแห่งชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และกรรมการและเลขาธิการมูลนิธิช้างแห่งประเทศไทย ได้บรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “One Health Experiences: Lesson learned in GMS” เพื่อแบ่งปันบทเรียนและประสบการณ์จริงในการนำแนวคิดนี้ไปใช้แก้ปัญหาสุขภาพอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม  จากนั้น ผู้เข้าร่วมได้ร่วมทำกิจกรรมเชื่อมสัมพันธ์ เพื่อเสริมสร้างความคุ้นเคยและเปิดโอกาสให้เกิดการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดเบื้องต้นระหว่างกันอย่างเป็นกันเอง

วันที่สอง: ลงพื้นที่จริง ณ “ชุมชนบ้านละว้า”

กิจกรรมไฮไลท์ของงานคือการลงพื้นที่ศึกษาดูงาน ณ ชุมชนบ้านละว้า อ.บ้านไผ่ จ.ขอนแก่น ซึ่งเป็นชุมชนต้นแบบที่ประสบความสำเร็จในการควบคุมโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับแบบบูรณาการ หรือที่เรียกว่า “Lawa Model“ ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เห็นการสาธิตการทำงานของอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้านในการป้องกันและควบคุมโรคอย่างเป็นระบบ รวมถึงเยี่ยมชม “โรงเรียนปลอดพยาธิใบไม้ตับ” ที่สร้างความตระหนักรู้ให้กับนักเรียนตั้งแต่เยาว์วัย

นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการเยี่ยมชมครัวเรือนที่ผลิตปลาส้ม และเรียนรู้การสร้างความตระหนักถึงปัจจัยเสี่ยงของการติดเชื้อพยาธิใบไม้ตับ เพื่อให้ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เข้าใจวงจรชีวิตของโรคอย่างถ่องแท้ พร้อมทั้งมีการสาธิตการจับปลาจากแก่งละว้า และการประกอบอาหารพื้นถิ่นอย่าง “ก้อยปลา” ซึ่งช่วยให้ผู้เข้าร่วมเข้าใจบริบททางวัฒนธรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแพร่ระบาดของโรค นอกจากนี้ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสัตวแพทย์ยังได้แบ่งปันความรู้เกี่ยวกับการดูแลสุขภาพสัตว์เลี้ยง และการใช้เทคโนโลยี GPS ในการติดตามสัตว์พาหะนำโรคอีกด้วย

วันที่สาม: สรุปบทเรียนและวางรากฐานสู่อนาคต

ในวันสุดท้าย ผู้เข้าร่วมได้นำบทเรียนที่ได้รับจากการลงพื้นที่มานำเสนอและแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นร่วมกันในหัวข้อ “Lessons learned from Lawa Model“ และ “OH Applications“ เพื่อหาแนวทางในการประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิด One Health ในบริบทของประเทศตนเอง การระดมสมองในครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นการสรุปองค์ความรู้ แต่ยังเป็นการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือที่แข็งแกร่งระหว่างบุคลากรด้านสุขภาพจากหลากหลายประเทศ ซึ่งจะเป็นพลังขับเคลื่อนสำคัญในการสร้างภูมิคุ้มกันสุขภาพแบบองค์รวมให้กับประชาชนในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขงในระยะยาว

กิจกรรม GMS-One Health Workshop ซึ่งมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นเป็นเจ้าภาพในครั้งนี้ ประสบความสำเร็จในการสร้างความร่วมมือที่แข็งแกร่งระหว่างบุคลากรด้านสุขภาพจาก 5 ชาติลุ่มน้ำโขง ผ่านการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ภาคทฤษฎีและประสบการณ์จากการลงพื้นที่จริง ณ ชุมชนบ้านละว้า การจัดงานนี้ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมแนวคิด One Health และสร้างรากฐานที่ยั่งยืนสำหรับการรับมือกับความท้าทายด้านสุขภาพในภูมิภาคนี้ต่อไป

Associate Professor Dr. Chadamas Sakonsinsiri, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, represented Thailand in the Life Sciences field at the Scientist Invitation Program 2025 (SIP2025), held in Seoul, South Korea, from July 14-25, 2025. Organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea and INITHiNK, the program brought together scientists from APEC member economies to strengthen trainee capabilities through specialized training, expand research networks, and foster international collaboration.

 

 

Associate Professor Dr.  Chadamas participated alongside two other Thai delegates, Dr. Pummarin Khamdahsag (Chulalongkorn University) and Associate Professor Dr. Chatchawan Jantasuriyarat (Kasetsart University), as well as participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Peru, and the Philippines. Together, they engaged in lectures, laboratory visits, and networking activities that laid a strong foundation for future collaborative research.

Scientist Invitation Program 2025 to Korea (SIP2025) 

รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ชฎามาศ สกลศิลป์ศิริ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เป็นตัวแทนประเทศไทยในสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ชีวภาพ เข้าร่วมโครงการ Scientist Invitation Program 2025 (SIP2025) ณ กรุงโซล สาธารณรัฐเกาหลี ระหว่างวันที่ 14-25 กรกฎาคม 2568 โครงการนี้จัดโดยความร่วมมือระหว่าง กระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์และ ICT แห่งสาธารณรัฐเกาหลี และ INITHiNK เพื่อเสริมสร้างศักยภาพนักวิจัยผ่านการฝึกอบรมเฉพาะทาง พัฒนาเครือข่ายวิจัย และส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิทยาศาสตร์ระหว่างประเทศสมาชิก APEC

รศ.ดร. ชฎามาศ เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมพร้อมนักวิจัยไทยอีก 2 ท่าน ได้แก่ ดร. ภุมรินทร์ คำเดชศักดิ์ (จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย) และ รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร. ชัชวาล จันทราสุริยารัตน์ (มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์) รวมทั้งผู้เข้าร่วมจากมาเลเซีย อินโดนีเซีย เปรู และฟิลิปปินส์ โดยร่วมฟังสัมมนา เยี่ยมชมห้องปฏิบัติการ และสร้างเครือข่ายวิจัย ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานสำคัญสำหรับความร่วมมือและการทำวิจัยร่วมในอนาคต

 

 

On August 7, 2025, the Social Work Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University organized the “Inspiring Volunteerism” project to recognize and promote good deeds among its staff and students. The event featured a special seminar titled “Creating Inspiration,” where participants shared their experiences and insights on the joy of giving. This created a positive and heartwarming atmosphere for everyone involved.

The event also included various activities, such as “Healthy Streets” booths to promote health alongside good deeds, and a charity food stall as part of the merit-making activities.

A key highlight of the day was the award ceremony, where certificates of appreciation and the “Heartfelt Service” awards were presented to student volunteers, staff, and both internal and external organizations dedicated to public service. This year, Ms. Pawinee Khamlar, an International Relations Officer from the Division of International Relations and Corporate Communications, was selected by the Srinagarind Hospital volunteer network to receive the prestigious “Heartfelt Service” award. Her dedication serves as an excellent example of contributing to society.

This project reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University to fostering a culture of giving and volunteerism, a quality that is just as crucial as medical expertise. The presentation of the “Heartfelt Service” award to an exemplary staff member not only honors individual dedication but also inspires the entire community to continue contributing to the well-being of society.

นักวิเทศสัมพันธ์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ได้รับเลือกให้เป็นผู้รับรางวัล “บริการด้วยใจ” จากเครือข่ายจิตอาสา โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ 

เมื่อวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม 2568 งานสังคมสงเคราะห์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้จัดโครงการ “สร้างแรงบันดาลใจในการเป็นจิตอาสา” ขึ้น เพื่อยกย่องและส่งเสริมการทำความดีในหมู่บุคลากรและนักศึกษา โดยภายในงานมีการเสวนาในหัวข้อ “สร้างแรงบันดาลใจ” ซึ่งเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้เข้าร่วมได้แบ่งปันประสบการณ์และข้อคิดดี ๆ จากการเป็นผู้ให้ สร้างบรรยากาศที่เต็มไปด้วยความสุขและความประทับใจ

นอกจากนี้ ในงานยังมีกิจกรรมออกบูธ “Healthy Streets” เพื่อส่งเสริมสุขภาพที่ดีควบคู่ไปกับการทำความดี รวมถึงการจัด โรงทาน เพื่อเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการทำบุญในงานอีกด้วย

หนึ่งในไฮไลต์สำคัญของงานคือพิธีมอบ ใบประกาศนียบัตร และรางวัล “บริการด้วยใจ” ให้กับนักเรียนจิตอาสา บุคลากร และหน่วยงานทั้งภายในและภายนอกที่มีจิตสาธารณะ โดยในปีนี้ นางสาวภาวินี คำหล้า นักวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร ได้รับการคัดเลือกจากเครือข่ายจิตอาสาโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ให้ได้รับรางวัลอันทรงเกียรตินี้ ถือเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีในการอุทิศตนเพื่อสังคมต่อไป

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) was honored to host Professor Robert Carroll, a globally renowned expert in kidney transplantation from the University of South Australia and Senior Consultant at Royal Adelaide Hospital. On February 3, 2025, Professor Carroll delivered an insightful lecture on “Managing Blood Group Incompatible Kidney Transplantation: Crossing HLA Antibodies and Managing HLA Labs”, shedding light on one of the most challenging aspects of organ transplantation.

 

 

Held at the Clinical Simulation Training Center, Princess Galyani Vadhana Memorial Building, the event brought together leading nephrologists, transplant surgeons, hematologists, and blood bank specialists from across Thailand, making it a milestone in advancing transplant medicine in the region.

 

Breaking Barriers in Kidney Transplantation

Professor Carroll’s lecture addressed the complexities of blood group-incompatible kidney transplantation, a frontier that has revolutionized the field. He shared insights into HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) antibody management, a crucial factor in preventing transplant rejection. Among the cutting-edge techniques discussed were Virtual Crossmatching, which enhances compatibility assessments, and the detection of non-HLA antibodies, which play a significant role in transplant rejection.

Highlighting breakthrough approaches to tackling antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) and post-transplant complications such as BKV-associated nephropathy (BKVAN), Professor Carroll’s session was a masterclass in the evolving landscape of transplant immunology. His insights provided attendees with innovative strategies to optimize patient outcomes and improve the longevity of transplanted organs.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) ได้รับเกียรติจาก ศาสตราจารย์ Robert Carroll ผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับโลกด้านการปลูกถ่ายไตจาก University of South Australia และที่ปรึกษาอาวุโสจากโรงพยาบาล Royal Adelaide มาเป็นวิทยากรพิเศษในหัวข้อ “Managing blood group incompatible kidney transplantation: Crossing HLA antibodies and managing HLA labs” (การบริหารจัดการการปลูกถ่ายไตข้ามหมู่เลือด การจัดการแอนติบอดี HLA และห้องปฏิบัติการ HLA) เมื่อวันที่ 3 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 ณ ห้องประชุม ชั้น 5 อาคารสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี

เปิดมุมมองใหม่ในวงการปลูกถ่ายไต

ศาสตราจารย์ Carroll ได้แบ่งปันความรู้ที่ล้ำสมัยในการปลูกถ่ายไตข้ามหมู่เลือด ซึ่งเป็นความท้าทายทางการแพทย์ที่จำเป็นต้องใช้เทคนิคขั้นสูง รวมถึงการจัดการแอนติบอดี HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) ที่อาจส่งผลกระทบต่อการยอมรับอวัยวะใหม่ของร่างกาย นอกจากนี้ยังกล่าวถึง “Virtual crossmatching” และการตรวจจับแอนติบอดีที่ไม่ใช่ HLA ซึ่งมีบทบาทสำคัญในการลดความเสี่ยงของการปฏิเสธไตใหม่หลังปลูกถ่าย

การบรรยายครั้งนี้ได้รับความสนใจจากแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญโรคไต ศัลยแพทย์ปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะ และนักโลหิตวิทยา ซึ่งนับเป็นโอกาสสำคัญที่ผู้เข้าร่วมจะได้แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้จากผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับโลกโดยตรง

ก่อนการบรรยาย ศาสตราจารย์ Carroll พร้อมด้วย ดร. ทวารัฐ สูตะบุตร กรรมการสภามหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างเป็นทางการจาก รองศาสตราจารย์ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. นอกจากนี้ คณะผู้บริหารของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ที่ให้การต้อนรับ ได้แก่:

การประชุมดังกล่าวให้ความสำคัญกับโครงการปลูกถ่ายไตและการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะอื่น ๆ ของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. โดยทีมแพทย์โรคไตและทีมปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะ ซึ่งช่วยให้เห็นถึงศักยภาพของประเทศไทยในด้านการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะ และแนวทางที่สามารถพัฒนาไปสู่ระดับนานาชาติ

หลังจากการบรรยาย ศาสตราจารย์ Carroll และ ดร. ทวารัฐ ได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมศูนย์การแพทย์เฉพาะทางของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ได้แก่:

• หน่วยไตเทียมและคลินิกโรคไต
• ศูนย์เซลล์บำบัดรักษา (Cellular Therapy Center)
• คลังเลือดกลาง (Central Blood Bank)

ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์กลางการให้บริการด้านโลหิตวิทยาและการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะที่สำคัญของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ

ก้าวสู่อนาคตของการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะ

การเยือนของศาสตราจารย์ Robert Carroll ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นโอกาสสำคัญสำหรับวงการแพทย์ไทยในการรับความรู้จากผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับโลก แต่ยังเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและการแพทย์ระหว่างประเทศ ที่จะช่วยพัฒนาเทคนิคใหม่ ๆ ในการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะ และช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยเข้าถึงการรักษาที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูงขึ้น

Khon Kaen, Thailand – The 4th ASEAN Head & Neck Dissection Course, hosted by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine and the ASEAN Head & Neck Network, is currently underway in Thailand from November 6-8, 2024. This high-profile workshop serves as a critical training ground for head and neck surgeons across Southeast Asia, focusing on advanced dissection techniques with hands-on practice using fresh frozen cadavers.

International experts, including Prof. Sheng-po Hao from Taiwan, Assoc. Prof. Marlinda Adham from Indonesia, Dr. Alexander van Bemmel from the Netherlands, and Dr. Baris Karakullukcu from Turkey, are leading the workshop, covering complex surgical procedures such as Thyroidectomy, Laryngectomy, Parotidectomy, Neck Dissection, and Maxillectomy. Participants are also trained in Local & Regional Flaps Reconstruction techniques, essential for reconstructive surgery in head and neck cancer patients.

 

 

 

The course features specialized demonstrations, including Conservation Laryngectomy and Transoral Laser Microsurgery (TLM), allowing participants to observe and learn techniques that prioritize tissue preservation and surgical precision. An additional hands-on workshop on Ultrasonography of the Thyroid and Cervical Lymph Nodes equips participants with diagnostic skills crucial for accurate patient assessment and treatment planning.

In the final sessions, faculty members engage participants in case presentations and panel discussions, focusing on non-technical skills such as communication and decision-making, which are essential in head and neck surgery. This comprehensive works

การประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการ ASEAN Head & Neck Dissection Course ครั้งที่ 4 ที่ประเทศไทย

ขอนแก่น, ประเทศไทย – การประชุม ASEAN Head & Neck Dissection Course ครั้งที่ 4 จัดขึ้นโดยสาขาวิชาโสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และเครือข่าย ASEAN Head & Neck Network ระหว่างวันที่ 6-8 พฤศจิกายน 2567 งานนี้ถือเป็นเวทีสำคัญสำหรับบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ด้านศัลยกรรมศีรษะและคอจากทั่วภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ในการฝึกทักษะขั้นสูงและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ในเชิงปฏิบัติ

การประชุมครั้งนี้นำโดยวิทยากรผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับนานาชาติ ได้แก่ Prof. Sheng-po Hao จากไต้หวัน, Assoc. Prof. Marlinda Adham จากอินโดนีเซีย, Dr. Alexander van Bemmel จากเนเธอร์แลนด์ และ Dr. Baris Karakullukcu จากตุรกี วิทยากรเหล่านี้ได้บรรยายและสาธิตเกี่ยวกับเทคนิคการผ่าตัดขั้นสูงหลายประเภท อาทิ การผ่าตัดต่อมไทรอยด์ (Thyroidectomy), การผ่าตัดกล่องเสียง (Laryngectomy), การผ่าตัดต่อมน้ำลาย (Parotidectomy), การผ่าตัดเนื้องอกบริเวณลำคอ (Neck Dissection) และการผ่าตัดกระดูกใบหน้า (Maxillectomy) รวมถึงการสร้างแผ่นเนื้อเยื่อสำหรับซ่อมแซม (Local & Regional Flaps Reconstruction) ซึ่งเป็นเทคนิคที่สำคัญในการรักษาผู้ป่วยที่มีปัญหามะเร็งศีรษะและคอ

นอกจากการฝึกปฏิบัติ ผู้เข้าร่วมยังได้รับโอกาสเข้าร่วมการสาธิตขั้นสูง เช่น การผ่าตัดกล่องเสียงแบบอนุรักษ์ (Conservation Laryngectomy) และ การผ่าตัดด้วยเลเซอร์ผ่านกล้อง (Transoral Laser Microsurgery, TLM) การสาธิตเหล่านี้มุ่งเน้นให้ผู้เข้าร่วมสามารถนำทักษะไปใช้จริงในผู้ป่วยได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและปลอดภัย โดยการประชุมนี้ยังรวมถึงการทำอัลตราซาวด์บริเวณลำคอและต่อมน้ำเหลือง (Thyroid and Cervical Lymph Nodes Ultrasonography) เพื่อการตรวจวินิจฉัยที่แม่นยำ

Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University, was a featured speaker at the 65^th Anniversary Celebration International Forum organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. The forum, held from October 24-25, 2024, focused on the theme “Global Health Challenges and Solutions: A Collaborative Approach” and brought together international experts and healthcare professionals to address pressing global health issues.

 

 

Assoc. Prof. Makarawate presented on the topic “Best Practices in Preventive Care,” sharing insights into innovative approaches and effective strategies to enhance preventive healthcare. His presentation highlighted how preventive care can play a critical role in managing health challenges on a global scale, aligning with the forum’s collaborative focus.

The event underscored the importance of partnerships and shared knowledge in advancing global health solutions, with participants from various countries contributing perspectives and strategies to tackle healthcare challenges collectively.

รศ. นพ. ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้รับเกียรติให้เป็นวิทยากรหลักบรรยายในหัวข้อ “Best Practices in Preventive Care”  ในงานประชุม The 65^th Anniversary Celebration International Forum ซึ่งจัดขึ้นโดยคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ งานประชุมนี้จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 24-25 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2567 ภายใต้หัวข้อ “Global Health Challenges and Solutions: A Collaborative Approach” โดยรวบรวมผู้เชี่ยวชาญและบุคลากรทางการแพทย์จากนานาชาติเพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับประเด็นสำคัญด้านสุขภาพระดับโลก

 

 

Khon Kaen, Thailand – Mr. Nutt Trakarnthai, a medical student from the Cho-Kalaphruek Excellent Research Project for Medical Students (CERPMS) cohort 2, and his advisor, Asst. Prof. Charupong Saengboonmee from the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, have won the prestigious first-place award in the international Factor X Video Competition at the Biomolecular Horizons 2024 conference.

This renowned event was co-organized by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB). It took place from September 22-26, 2024, in Melbourne, Australia.

Their winning entry demonstrated groundbreaking insights into biochemical research, showcasing innovative approaches that impressed an international panel of judges. The competition was part of a broader event that gathered leading scientists and researchers from around the world to discuss advances in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Khon Kaen University celebrates this achievement as a significant milestone, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to excellence in research and its international reputation.

 

 

On September 20, 2024, the British Council Thailand, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Catherine West, UK Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs, for a bilateral meeting in order to advance and support scientific collaboration between researchers from Thailand and the UK, highlighting the strong partnership in higher education and research between the two nations.

A research team from Khon Kaen University (KKU) had the privilege of presenting their collaborative project with Imperial College London. The team included Assistant Professor Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin from the Faculty of Medicine and Chairperson of the Phenomic Research and Academic Services Steering Committee at KKU, Dr. M.L. Manida Suksawat from the International College and member and assistant secretary of the Phenomic Research and Academic Services Steering Committee at KKU, and Mr. Theerayut Bubpamala, a graduate student in the Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program at the Faculty of Medicine, KKU.

 

 

The project, titled “Personal Health AI for Phenomic Medicine Open Data Infrastructure for Research, Development and Innovation in Thailand,” is a joint effort with Associate Professor Dr. Jia Li and a team of experts from multiple fields such as phenomics, data science, and artificial intelligence at Imperial College London. Imperial College, recognized as the second-best university globally by the QS World University Rankings, stands as a world-renowned institution of academic excellence.

This collaborative project highlights the increasing significance of AI and phenomic medicine in advancing healthcare and scientific research in Thailand, representing a key milestone in fostering international academic collaboration.
