On March 6, 2025, the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a presentation on the cooperative education internship program, where students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences shared their experiences and key lessons learned throughout their internship. The event was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Thuss Sanguansak, Associate Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications, and Ms. Duangkamol Srisawasdi, Head of the International Relations Office, who provided valuable insights and feedback to the students.

The internship program, which ran from November 18, 2024, to March 7, 2025, welcomed participants from the Thai Language Program, including Mr. Patiwat Srisaard and Ms. Korakot Onjangreed, and from the Chinese Language Program under the Eastern Languages Department, including Ms. Ratchanikon Thatuwisai, Ms. Sumitta Buaphang, and Ms. Kotchakorn Onjangreed.

Bridging Academics and Practical Skills on a Global Stage

Throughout the internship, students engaged in real-world international relations work, developing crucial skills such as document translation between Thai, English, and Chinese, a key responsibility in facilitating international communication and information exchange.

Additionally, the interns had the opportunity to serve as event hosts and interpreters in Thai, English, and Chinese during high-profile activities, including: Welcoming international delegations, Organizing and facilitating cultural exchange programs, Providing interpretation services at academic conferences

Equipping Students for the Professional World

This hands-on experience was not just about refining language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills. It also played a crucial role in enhancing teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure—all essential attributes for thriving in today’s fast-paced global work environment.

The success of these cooperative education interns marks a pivotal step toward professional careers in international relations and global communication. ก้าวสำคัญของนักศึกษาสหกิจศึกษา สู่ความเป็นมืออาชีพด้านวิเทศสัมพันธ์

เมื่อวันที่ 6 มีนาคม 2568 งานวิเทศสัมพันธ์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้จัดงาน นำเสนอผลการฝึกงานสหกิจศึกษา ของนักศึกษาจากคณะมนุษยศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ ซึ่งเป็นการสรุปประสบการณ์และบทเรียนที่ได้รับตลอดระยะเวลาการฝึกปฏิบัติงาน โดยได้รับเกียรติจาก รองศาสตราจารย์ ธรรศ์ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร และ นางดวงกมล ศรีสวัสดิ์ หัวหน้างานวิเทศสัมพันธ์ เป็นผู้รับฟังและให้ข้อเสนอแนะที่เป็นประโยชน์

โครงการฝึกงานสหกิจศึกษาในครั้งนี้ เริ่มต้นตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 พฤศจิกายน 2567 – 7 มีนาคม 2568 โดยมีนักศึกษาสาขาวิชาภาษาไทย ได้แก่ นายปฏิวัติ ศรีสอาด และนางสาวกรกฎ อ่อนจังหรีด และนักศึกษาสาขาวิชาภาษาตะวันออก (เอกภาษาจีน) ได้แก่ นางสาวรัชนีกร ธาตุวิสัย, นางสาวสุมิตตา บัวแพง และนางสาวกชกร อ่อนจังหรีด เข้าร่วมฝึกปฏิบัติงาน

พัฒนาทักษะสู่มาตรฐานสากล ด้วยการฝึกปฏิบัติจริง

ตลอดระยะเวลาการฝึกงาน นักศึกษาได้ฝึกทักษะที่สำคัญในงานด้านวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น การแปลเอกสารระหว่างภาษาไทย-อังกฤษ-จีน ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในภารกิจสำคัญของงานวิเทศสัมพันธ์ในการสื่อสารและเผยแพร่ข้อมูลระดับนานาชาติ

นอกจากนี้ นักศึกษายังได้รับโอกาสทำหน้าที่ พิธีกรและล่ามแปลภาษา ไทย-อังกฤษ-จีน ในโอกาสสำคัญต่างๆ เช่น ต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนจากต่างประเทศ ดำเนินกิจกรรมแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระดับนานาชาติ ร่วมเป็นล่ามแปลภาษาในการประชุมทางวิชาการ

เสริมสร้างศักยภาพการทำงานจริง พร้อมก้าวสู่โลกอาชีพ

ประสบการณ์ที่ได้รับจากการฝึกงานครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยเสริมสร้างความสามารถทางภาษาและการสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรม แต่ยังช่วยพัฒนาทักษะที่สำคัญในโลกการทำงานจริง เช่น การทำงานเป็นทีม การบริหารจัดการเวลา การแก้ปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า และการทำงานภายใต้สถานการณ์ที่ท้าทาย

合作教育实习生迈向国际事务专业之路

3月6日，孔敬大学医学院国际事务办公室举办了合作教育实习生成果汇报会，来自人文与社会科学学院的实习生分享实习期间的经验和收获。本次会议荣幸邀请到副教授Thuss Sanguansak ，国际事务与企业传播副院长，以及Ms. Duangkamol Srisawasdi，国际事务办公室主任出席，并为学生提供宝贵的建议和反馈。

本次合作教育实习项目自2024年11月18日至2025年3月7日，参与实习的学生包括泰语专业Mr. Patiwat Srisaard 和Ms. Korakot Onjangreed，以及东亚语言学系中文专业 Ms. Ratchanikon Thatuwisai、Ms. Sumitta Buaphang、Ms. Kotchakorn Onjangreed。

提升技能，迈向国际标准，实践中锤炼能力

在整个实习期间，学生们得以锻炼国际事务领域的重要技能，包括泰语-英语-中文的文件翻译。这项任务是国际事务工作的重要组成部分，旨在促进国际传播与信息共享。

此外，学生们还有机会在重要场合担任主持人及泰-英-中三语口译员，例如接待外国代表团、主持国际文化交流活动，以及在学术会议中担任口译工作。

本次实习不仅提升了学生的语言能力和跨文化沟通技巧，还培养了在真实职场环境中必备的重要技能，如团队合作、时间管理、应变能力以及在挑战性环境下工作的能力。

On February 24, 2025, Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen University, had the honor of receiving a generous donation from The Rotary Foundation, Rotary Districts 2720 and 3350, along with the Rotary Club of Oita Capital in Japan and the Rotary Club of Srapathum in Thailand. This donation was made as part of the Awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease for Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen Province, Global Grant: 2568800 of The Rotary Foundation project, aimed at enhancing the capacity to care for patients with chronic kidney disease
in the northeastern region of Thailand. The donation included two NIKKISO DBB-27C hemodialysis machines valued at over 1,152,600 baht.

The reception of the donors was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere,
led by Professor Somsak Thiamkao, Director of Srinagarind Hospital; Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications;
and Associate Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai, Vice Dean for Research and Innovation.
They expressed their gratitude and congratulations for the collaboration with The Rotary Foundation, which has provided crucial medical equipment and promoted health education to the public.

In addition to the donation of hemodialysis machines, the donors also visited the Excellence Center for Kidney Disease at Srinagarind Hospital, where training sessions were held for nursing staff, and public education on chronic kidney disease was provided to the citizens
of Khon Kaen Province. The goal was to raise awareness and promote prevention of kidney disease at the community level.

This project reflects the commitment to advancing healthcare for patients with chronic kidney disease in the region, ensuring high-quality medical services that meet the needs of the local population. The donation of hemodialysis machines, coupled with the sharing of medical expertise, represents a crucial advancement in the care of chronic kidney disease patients. This initiative further underscores Srinagarind Hospital’s commitment to strengthening medical services, benefiting both the community and the healthcare profession.

เมื่อวันที่ 24 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้รับเกียรติจากมูลนิธิโรตารี (The Rotary Foundation) สโมสรโรตารีภาค 2720 และ 3350 ร่วมกับสโมสรโรตารีโออิตะแคปปิตอล (Rotary Club of Oita Capital) จากประเทศญี่ปุ่น และสโมสรโรตารีสระปทุม จากประเทศไทย ในการดำเนินโครงการมอบเครื่องฟอกไต NIKKISO DBB-27C จำนวน 2 เครื่อง มูลค่ากว่า 1,152,600 บาท ภายใต้โครงการ Awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease for Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kean Province, Global Grant: 2568800 of The Rotary Foundation เพื่อเสริมสร้างความสามารถในการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคไตเรื้อรังในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทย

扶轮基金会向诗那卡琳医院捐赠透析机，以加强泰国东北部地区的患者护理

          2025年2月24日，诗那卡琳医院（孔敬大学）荣幸获扶轮基金会（The Rotary Foundation）、扶轮社第2720和3350地区、日本大分首都扶轮社（Rotary Club of Oita Capital）及泰国沙叻巴吞扶轮社的支持，开展透析机捐赠项目。此次捐赠包括2台NIKKISO DBB-27C透析机，总价值1,152,600泰铢，项目名称为“Awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease for Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen Province, Global Grant: 2568800 of The Rotary Foundation”。该项目旨在提升泰国东北部地区对慢性肾病患者的医疗照护能力。

欢迎仪式在温馨的氛围中举行，由诗那卡琳医院院长、宋萨克 提扬考教授 (Professor Somsak Thiamkao) ，诗那卡琳医院孔敬院长、唐萨 桑坤萨克副教授 (Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak) ，以及研究与创新副院长、西里拉特 阿努塔拉昆查伊副教授 (Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai) 共同主持。大家表达了对扶轮基金会的感激之情，感谢其在提供必要医疗设备以及向公众推广知识方面的支持与合作。

Khon Kaen, Thailand – In a ceremony marking academic excellence and groundbreaking research, Professor Alexander Constantine Loukas has been awarded an honorary degree by Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to the field of Tropical Medicine, particularly his work on liver fluke infections and cholangiocarcinoma, diseases that have long posed significant health challenges in Southeast Asia.

A Legacy of Innovation and Hope

For over two decades, Professor Loukas has been at the forefront of research aimed at addressing critical regional health issues. His pioneering studies have expanded scientific understanding of liver fluke infections and associated bile duct cancers, providing new avenues for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. His work has given hope to countless individuals affected by these life-threatening diseases.

“Professor Loukas’s dedication has transformed how we approach one of the most pressing health challenges in our region. His work not only advances science but also brings hope to those in need,” said Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University.

Professor Loukas’s impact extends far beyond the laboratory. As a mentor, he has guided numerous students and researchers, particularly through Thailand’s prestigious Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Program (RGJ-PhD). His mentorship has shaped the careers of many young scientists, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to the global medical community.

In recognition of his ongoing commitment, Professor Loukas was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor in Tropical Medicine at Khon Kaen University, ensuring that his influence and expertise will continue to inspire future generations.

ล่าสุด ศาสตราจารย์ลูคัสได้รับแต่งตั้งให้ดำรงตำแหน่ง ศาสตราจารย์พิเศษด้านเวชศาสตร์เขตร้อน (Adjunct Professor in Tropical Medicine) ที่มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ซึ่งแสดงถึงความผูกพันและบทบาทอันต่อเนื่องของเขาในประเทศไทย

Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine recently garnered international attention by hosting the 18th Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Workshop and the 10th International Advanced Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Workshop. Held on August 25, 2024, at the Mittraphap Conference Room and the Advanced Skill Lab, this event served as a crucial platform for enhancing the surgical expertise of ENT specialists and neurosurgeons from across Southeast Asia.

The workshop was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication at the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. This year’s workshop featured distinguished speakers from renowned global institutions, including Prof. Ricardo L. Carrau and Prof. Daniel M. Prevedello from Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio, USA, and Prof. Siow Jin Keat from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. Their participation underscored the event’s significance as a premier international medical education opportunity.

Assoc. Prof. Teeraporn Ratanaanakechai, Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Khon Kaen University, highlighted the workshop’s objective: to equip ENT specialists and neurosurgeons with cutting-edge techniques in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. This hands-on training was designed to empower medical professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in these complex surgical areas, thus improving patient outcomes across the region.

The workshop attracted 60 participants from Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia, reflecting Khon Kaen University’s growing influence as a center for advanced medical training. Assoc. Prof. Pornthep Kasemsiri, the workshop coordinator, noted that the event’s success demonstrates Khon Kaen University’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and driving medical innovation in Southeast Asia.

Srinagarind Hospital, under the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University, Thailand, recently hosted the 12th Annual Comprehensive Care Program for Cleft Lip, Palate, and Craniofacial Deformities, drawing international attention to its pioneering approach in holistic patient care. The event, held on August 24, 2024, at the Rachawadee Resort and Hotel in Khon Kaen, underscored the hospital’s commitment to providing world-class medical services and improving the quality of life for patients with complex craniofacial conditions.

The program, which has become a model of excellence in healthcare, is supported by the Khon Kaen Provincial Administration Organization and organized by the Tawanchai Foundation in collaboration with Srinagarind Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University. This year’s event was inaugurated by Mr. Prasit Thongthangthai, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Provincial Administration Organization, and attended by distinguished figures from both the medical field and the local community, including Prof. Dr. Benjamas Prathanee, Vice President of the Tawanchai Foundation.

Recognized for its multi-disciplinary approach, the program focuses on providing comprehensive care in five critical areas: health, education, livelihood, social integration, and empowerment. On Friday, August 16, 2024, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine held a special charity football match, the SINGHA ALL STAR Unity Match 2024, under the theme “A Healthy World, A Healthy People.” This event was a collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Singha All Star, supported by Boon Rawd Brewery Co., Ltd.

The KKU team, led by Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, alongside faculty members, staff, and medical students, took to the field against the Singha All Star team, captained by Piti Bhirombhakdi and joined by several well-known celebrities and actors. The match was held at the 50^th Anniversary Stadium of Khon Kaen University.

International exchange students from Austria, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic also joined in the event, contributing to the spirit of global camaraderie and charitable efforts.

The proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the Faculty of Medicine’s mobile medical units for community health and the Cholangiocarcinoma projects at Khon Kaen University.

On July 22, 2024, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute (CARI) held an event titled “Research Towards Sustainable Solutions for Liver Fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma” at the SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

Assoc. Prof. Watcharin Loilome, the Director of the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, stated, “Cholangiocarcinoma poses a significant health threat to Thais, particularly in the northeastern region, where the incidence of this disease is high. The primary cause is liver fluke infection, which is a major risk factor. Therefore, it is crucial to study and research this disease to develop more effective prevention and treatment methods and to reduce its impact on public health.”

She added, “Research in this area is not only focused on understanding the causes and prevention of the disease but also on developing new technologies and innovations for diagnosing and treating cholangiocarcinoma. This will help increase survival rates and improve the quality of life for patients. Collaboration among researchers, doctors, and related organizations is essential in building a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare system for the people in this region.”

The event featured key activities, including a special lecture on “A Decade of Addressing Liver Fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma Towards a Sustainable Future,” which presented strategies and visions for sustainably addressing these health issues in the coming decade. Additionally, there was a panel discussion on “Developing Research for Sustainable Solutions to Liver Fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma in Thailand,” aimed at finding more effective prevention and treatment methods. The discussion involved exchanging key insights and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, leading to the development of skilled professionals ready to face the challenges and changes of the modern world for sustainable economic and social development.

The event garnered significant attention from government agencies, the private sector, and the general public. It marked an important step in advancing medical research and innovation to improve the health of the Thai population, providing new hope in the fight against liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma effectively and sustainably. This collective effort not only enhances knowledge and understanding but also inspires the development of a workforce equipped to tackle future challenges with resilience.

MDKKU congratulates Assoc. Prof. Kulthida Vaeteewoottacharn, a professor in the Biochemistry Department, on being appointed as “Kumamoto University Liaison Professor” since July 1, 2024. In this role, she will support Kumamoto University’s international activities related to international exchange, which will lead to the development and strengthening of international networks.

We are confident that Assoc. Prof. Vaeteewoottacharn’s expertise and dedication will significantly contribute to fostering academic collaborations. We look forward to the fruitful outcomes of her efforts in this esteemed position.

Over March 18-22, 2024, Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University received its 2^nd hospital quality inspection visit by the JOINT COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL(JCI) Re-accreditation team.

We are pleased to announce that Queen Sirikit Heart Center was re-accredited, with JCI accreditation renewed for 3 years from March 23, 2024 to March 22, 2027.

Queen Sirikit Heart Center is thus certified as an international standard hospital by the USA- based JCI and with advanced HA quality certification from the Thai-based Healthcare Quality Accreditation Institute.
