MDKKU Welcomes Professor from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA, to Strengthen Pediatric Leukemia Care

 

Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) continues to strengthen its international medical collaborations. Most recently, the Department of Pediatrics officially invited Professor Hiroto Inaba, a leading expert in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to visit from May 19–21, 2026. The visit aimed to support academic collaboration, research development, and better treatment for pediatric patients.

 

 

On May 20, 2026, the executive team of MDKKU, led by Assoc. Prof. Thuss Sanguansak and Prof. Sirirat Anutrakulchai, together with pediatric specialists including Asst. Prof. Kunanya Suwanying and Dr. Napat Laoarun, warmly welcomed Professor Inaba. The meeting focused on building future academic and research collaboration between the institutions.

 

 

During the visit, several academic activities were organized, including:

  • Lectures and Case Discussions: Sharing knowledge and treatment approaches for leukemia in children, adolescents, and young adults with faculty members, specialists, and residents.
  • Research and Advanced Treatment Consultation: Discussing future collaborative research in molecular diagnostics and innovative immunotherapy treatments for leukemia patients.

This collaboration reflects the strong commitment of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University to continuously improve its medical education, research, and patient care at an international level. It also creates new opportunities for pediatric leukemia patients in Thailand to access more advanced and effective treatments in the future.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เดินหน้าขยายความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ระดับนานาชาติ โดยสาขาวิชากุมารเวชศาสตร์ ได้เชิญ Professor Hiroto Inaba ผู้เชี่ยวชาญชื่อดังระดับโลกด้านโรคมะเร็งเม็ดเลือดขาวและมะเร็งต่อมน้ำเหลืองในเด็ก (Leukemia/Lymphoma) จาก St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital สหรัฐอเมริกา เดินทางมาเยือนเพื่อร่วมยกระดับวิชาการ งานวิจัย และการบริการรักษาผู้ป่วยเด็กระหว่างวันที่ 19-21 พฤษภาคม 2569

เมื่อวันที่ 20 พฤษภาคม 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ธรรศ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร พร้อมด้วย ศาสตราจารย์ศิริรัตน์ อนุตระกูลชัย รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและนวัตกรรม และทีมแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากสาขาวิชากุมารเวชศาสตร์ ได้แก่ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์คุณัญญา สุวรรณยิ่ง และ แพทย์หญิงณภัทร เหล่าอรุณ ได้ร่วมให้การต้อนรับและประชุมหารือกับ Professor Hiroto Inaba เพื่อวางรากฐานความร่วมมือระหว่างสถาบัน

การมาเยือนของผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับโลกในครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นโอกาสครั้งสำคัญของสาขาวิชากุมารเวชศาสตร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ผ่านกิจกรรมทางวิชาการที่เข้มข้น ประกอบด้วย

  • การบรรยายพิเศษและอภิปรายเคสผู้ป่วย (Case Discussion) เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางการดูแลรักษาโรคมะเร็งเม็ดเลือดขาวในเด็ก วัยรุ่น และผู้ใหญ่ตอนต้น ร่วมกับคณาจารย์ แพทย์เฉพาะทาง และแพทย์ประจำบ้าน
  • การหารือด้านงานวิจัยและการรักษาขั้นสูง (Research Consultation) เพื่อพัฒนาแนวทางการตรวจวินิจฉัยทางชีววิทยาโมเลกุล (Molecular Biology) และนวัตกรรมการรักษาด้วยภูมิคุ้มกันบำบัด (Immunotherapy) สำหรับผู้ป่วยโรคมะเร็งเม็ดเลือดขาว

ความร่วมมือในครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการยกระดับศักยภาพด้านการแพทย์ การวิจัย และการรักษาสู่มาตรฐานสากล พร้อมเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ป่วยเด็กโรคมะเร็งเม็ดเลือดขาวในประเทศไทยเข้าถึงแนวทางการรักษาที่ทันสมัยและมีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต

孔敬大学医学院迎接美国圣犹达儿童研究医院世界级专家 携手儿科学系深化合作

孔敬大学医学院（Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University）正持续推进国际医疗合作。近日，该院儿科学系特邀在儿童白血病及淋巴瘤（Leukemia/Lymphoma）领域享有盛誉的世界级专家——来自美国圣犹达儿童研究医院（St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital）的 Hiroto Inaba 教授于2026年5月19日至21日期间来访，旨在共同提升学术、科研及儿童患者的临床治疗水平。

2026年5月20日，孔敬大学医学院国际事务与企业传讯副院长Thuss Sanguansak 副教授、科研与创新副院长Sirirat Anutrakulchai 教授，联同儿科学系专家团队包括 Kunanya Suwanying 助理教授及 Napat Laoarun 医生一同热情接待了 Hiroto Inaba 教授。双方举行了合作会谈，为两院未来的深层合作奠定了坚实基础。

此次世界级专家的到访，是孔敬大学医学院儿科学系通过高强度学术活动深化专业知识的重要契机。主要活动包括：

  • 专题讲座与病例讨论（Case Discussion）：与多位教员、专科医生及住院医生共同探讨和交流儿童、青少年及年轻成人白血病的临床诊疗方案。
  • 科研咨询与尖端治疗探讨（Research Consultation）：旨在推进白血病患者的分子生物学（Molecular Biology）诊断技术以及免疫疗法（Immunotherapy）等创新治疗方案的发展。

此次合作充分彰显了孔敬大学医学院致力于将医疗、科研及治疗能力提升至国际标杆水平的决心，同时也为泰国白血病患儿在未来能够获得更先进、更高效的医疗救治开辟了新机遇。

MDKKU Partners with Genome Research Limited and Wellcome Sanger Institute to Launch International Training Forum

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) is moving forward with expanding its international collaboration in genomics and bioinformatics through the “Genome Sequence Analysis – Asia” training program. Supported by funding from Genome Research Limited, Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK, the forum is taking place from May 18–22, 2026. The event is organized by the Department of Systems Biosciences and Computational Medicine, MDKKU.

 

 

On May 19, 2026, MDKKU warmly welcomed world-renowned genomics and bioinformatics experts, including Dr. Jacqueline Keane, PhD (Cambridge Bioinformatics / Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK), Dr. Thomas Keane, PhD (EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute, UK), and Ms. Zunera Jamal (National Institute of Health, Pakistan). The delegation has traveled to Thailand to share cutting-edge knowledge in modern genetic analysis and exchange bioinformatic technological experiences with researchers and healthcare professionals from various Asian nations.

 

 

On this occasion, Assoc Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, extended an official welcome and led strategic discussions on future research collaborations and advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, and precision medicine with the global experts. Key faculty members from the Department of Systems Biosciences and Computational Medicine also joined the discussion and coordinated the training session, led by Assoc. Prof. Nisana Namwat (Head of the Department), Asst. Prof. Arporn Wangwiwatsin and Asst. Prof. Suwalak Chitcharoen from the Department of Microbiology.

Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong stated that modern medicine inherently requires bridging clinical knowledge with foundational research, particularly in genomics and bioinformatics, which currently play a critical role in disease diagnosis, personalized treatment planning, and the future development of precision medicine.

“Genomics is becoming a pivotal direction for Thai medicine. The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University is seriously committed to advancing this field across all fronts—including research, human resource development, and building collaborative networks with world-class international institutions,” said the Dean.

Currently, MDKKU continuously develops its capabilities in genomics and precision medicine through ongoing research, infrastructure upgrades, and workforce training. Academic research spans multiple areas, including oncology (cancer), infectious diseases, rare diseases, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), while integrating genetic data and bioinformatics tools to support precise diagnostics and personalized therapeutic planning.

Furthermore, the Faculty continues to actively forge local and international networks in genomics and bioinformatics to elevate the capabilities of Thai researchers and support the strategic direction of the country’s future healthcare and public health systems.

The “Genome Sequence Analysis – Asia” program marks another monumental milestone for MDKKU, in driving genomic research and precision medicine forward, while seamlessly connecting global knowledge, technology, and research networks to shape the future of medicine in Thailand.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เดินหน้าขยายความร่วมมือด้าน Genome และ Bioinformatics กับสถาบันวิจัยระดับโลก ผ่านโครงการฝึกอบรม “Genome Sequence Analysis – Asia” ภายใต้ทุนสนับสนุนจาก Genome Research Limited, Wellcome Sanger Institute สหราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 18–22 พฤษภาคม 2569 โดยโครงการจัดตั้งสาขาวิชาชีววิทยาศาสตร์ระบบและการแพทย์เชิงคอมพิวเตอร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น

ในการนี้ รศ. ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ให้การต้อนรับอย่างเป็นทางการ พร้อมหารือแนวทางความร่วมมือด้านงานวิจัยและการพัฒนาด้าน Genome, Bioinformatics และ Precision Medicine ร่วมกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากสถาบันระดับโลก โดยมีคณาจารย์จากโครงการจัดตั้งสาขาวิชาชีววิทยาศาสตร์ระบบและการแพทย์เชิงคอมพิวเตอร์ นำโดย รศ. ดร. นิษณา นามวาท หัวหน้าโครงการฯ ผศ. ดร. อาภรณ์ หวังวิวัฒน์สิน และ ผศ. ดร. สุวลักษณ์ จิตรเจริญ สาขาวิชาจุลชีววิทยา เข้าร่วมการหารือและดำเนินการจัดฝึกอบรม

รศ. ภัทรพงษ์ กล่าวว่า ปัจจุบันการแพทย์ยุคใหม่จำเป็นต้องเชื่อมโยงองค์ความรู้ทางคลินิกเข้ากับงานวิจัยพื้นฐาน โดยเฉพาะด้าน Genome และ Bioinformatics ซึ่งกำลังมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการวินิจฉัยโรค การเลือกแนวทางการรักษาเฉพาะบุคคล และการพัฒนาการแพทย์แม่นยำในอนาคต

“Genome กำลังกลายเป็นอีกหนึ่งทิศทางสำคัญของการแพทย์ไทย และคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ก็ให้ความสำคัญกับการพัฒนาด้านนี้อย่างจริงจัง ทั้งในด้านงานวิจัย การพัฒนาบุคลากร และการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือกับสถาบันระดับนานาชาติ” รองศาสตราจารย์ ภัทรพงษ์ กล่าว

ปัจจุบันคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น มีการพัฒนางานด้าน Genomics และ Precision Medicine อย่างต่อเนื่อง ทั้งด้านงานวิจัย โครงสร้างพื้นฐาน และการพัฒนาบุคลากร โดยมีการดำเนินงานวิจัยในหลายสาขา เช่น โรคมะเร็ง โรคติดเชื้อ โรคหายาก และโรคไม่ติดต่อเรื้อรัง รวมถึงการนำข้อมูลทางพันธุกรรมและเทคโนโลยีชีวสารสนเทศมาใช้สนับสนุนการวินิจฉัยและวางแผนการรักษาเฉพาะบุคคล

นอกจากนี้ คณะฯ ยังเดินหน้าสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้าน Genome และ Bioinformatics กับสถาบันวิจัยทั้งในและต่างประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อยกระดับศักยภาพนักวิจัยไทย และรองรับทิศทางการพัฒนาระบบการแพทย์และสาธารณสุขของประเทศในอนาคต

孔敬大学医学院通过举办 “Genome Sequence Analysis – Asia” 培训项目，积极推进与世界级研究机构在基因组学（Genome）和生物信息学（Bioinformatics）领域的合作。该项目获得了英国 Genome Research Limited 和 Wellcome Sanger Institute 的资助，于 2026 年 5 月 18 日至 22 日举行，由孔敬大学医学院系统生物科学与计算医学系（筹建中）负责主办。

2026 年 5 月 19 日，孔敬大学医学院迎来了多位来自国际顶尖机构的基因组学与生物信息学专家，包括来自英国 Cambridge Bioinformatics / Wellcome Sanger Institute 的 Dr. Jacqueline Keane, PhD、英国 EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute 的 Dr. Thomas Keane, PhD 以及巴基斯坦国家卫生研究院（National Institute of Health）的 Ms. Zunera Jamal。各位专家此行旨在为来自亚洲多个国家的学者、研究人员及医疗卫生人员传授现代基因数据分析知识，并分享生物信息技术领域的宝贵经验。

在此期间，孔敬大学医学院院长 Pattarapong Makarawate 副教授对专家团的到来表示热烈欢迎，并与世界级机构的专家们就基因组学、生物信息学及精准医学（Precision Medicine）领域的研究与发展合作方向进行了深入探讨。参与此次会谈及培训筹办的还有系统生物科学与计算医学系（筹建中）负责人 Nisana Namwat 副教授、Arporn Wangwiwatsin 助理教授以及微生物学系的 Suwalak Chitcharoen 助理教授。

Pattarapong 副教授表示，现代医学必须将临床知识与基础研究紧密结合，尤其是基因组学和生物信息学，这两者在疾病诊断、个体化治疗方案选择以及未来精准医学的发展中正发挥着至关重要的作用。

MDKKU Strengthens Global Research Collaboration Through Stanford University Partnership

 

On 24 March 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, had the honor of welcoming Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak, Professor of Comparative Medicine and Director of Anesthesia, Pain Management, and Surgery in the Department of Comparative Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, USA, who is internationally renowned for his expertise in comparative medicine, anesthesiology, pain management, and surgery, on the occasion of his visit to the Faculty to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

 

 

During the visit, Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai, Vice Dean for Research and Innovation, warmly welcomed Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak and joined discussions on potential areas of collaboration in translational research, as well as research involving the use of laboratory animals to support medical education and health sciences under appropriate ethical standards and research practices.

Another important activity during the visit was a research discussion with faculty members from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, led by Professor Poungrat Pakdeechote, Head of the Department, together with senior faculty members and researchers, as well as Associate Professor Charupong Saengboonmee from the Department of Biochemistry. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on translational research and to explore potential areas for future academic and research collaboration.

In addition to the collaborative discussion, Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak delivered a special lecture entitled “One Health, One Pain: A Collaborative Model for Translational Analgesia” to faculty members, physicians, veterinarians, and researchers at Khon Kaen University. The lecture attracted strong interest from participants and highlighted the importance of integrating knowledge in human and animal health to advance both research and clinical care more effectively.

 

 

The event was also honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Naruepon Khampa, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University, who joined the lecture and exchanged views on issues related to the use of medication and pain management in laboratory animals in support of research conducted in accordance with animal welfare principles and international standards.

Professor Cholawat Pacharinsak is an internationally recognized expert in Comparative Medicine, Anesthesia, Pain Management, Surgery, and Translational Research. He has played a significant role in advancing ethical standards in laboratory animal care, pain management research, and the generation of knowledge that bridges laboratory-based science with clinical application. He has also actively contributed to building academic collaboration networks in key areas such as One Health and translational research.

This visit and academic exchange mark another important step in strengthening collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and experts from world-leading institutions. Such partnerships will further enhance the Faculty’s research and innovation capacity and contribute to the development of knowledge that supports the sustainable advancement of Thailand’s healthcare system.

เมื่อวันที่ 24 มีนาคม 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ให้การต้อนรับ ศาสตราจารย์ชลวัฒน์ พัชรินทร์ศักดิ์ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้าน เวชศาสตร์สัตว์ทดลอง วิสัญญีวิทยา การจัดการความปวด และการผ่าตัด จาก Stanford University School of Medicine สหรัฐอเมริกา ในโอกาสเดินทางมาเยือนคณะแพทยศาสตร์ เพื่อหารือแนวทางการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและงานวิจัยระหว่างสถาบัน

ในการนี้ รองศาสตราจารย์ ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ และ ศาสตราจารย์ศิริรัตน์ อนุตระกูลชัย รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและนวัตกรรม ร่วมให้การต้อนรับและหารือถึงแนวทางการพัฒนาความร่วมมือด้าน Translational Research รวมถึงงานศึกษาวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้สัตว์ทดลองเพื่อสนับสนุนการศึกษาทางการแพทย์และวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ ภายใต้มาตรฐานและหลักจริยธรรมที่เหมาะสม

อีกหนึ่งกิจกรรมสำคัญของการเยือนครั้งนี้ คือการเข้าหารือด้านการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิจัยกับคณาจารย์จากสาขาวิชาสรีรวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย ศาสตราจารย์พวงรัตน์ ภักดีโชติ หัวหน้าสาขาวิชา พร้อมด้วยคณาจารย์และนักวิจัยอาวุโสของสาขาวิชา รวมถึง รองศาสตราจารย์จารุพงษ์ แสงบุญมี จากสาขาวิชาชีวเคมี เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และหารือแนวทางการต่อยอดความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัยเชิงแปลผลและประเด็นวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องในอนาคต

นอกจากการหารือด้านความร่วมมือแล้ว ศาสตราจารย์ชลวัฒน์ พัชรินทร์ศักดิ์ ยังได้บรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “One Health, One Pain: A Collaborative Model for Translational Analgesia” ให้แก่คณาจารย์ แพทย์ สัตวแพทย์ และนักวิจัยของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ซึ่งได้รับความสนใจจากผู้เข้าร่วมเป็นจำนวนมาก สะท้อนถึงความสำคัญของการบูรณาการองค์ความรู้ด้านสุขภาพของมนุษย์และสัตว์ เพื่อพัฒนางานวิจัยและการดูแลรักษาให้มีประสิทธิภาพยิ่งขึ้น

ในการบรรยายครั้งนี้ ยังได้รับเกียรติจาก รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร. นฤพนธ์ คำพา คณบดีคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เข้าร่วมรับฟังและแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นในประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้ยาและการจัดการความปวดในสัตว์ทดลอง เพื่อสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานวิจัยตามหลักสวัสดิภาพสัตว์และมาตรฐานสากล

ศาสตราจารย์ชลวัฒน์ พัชรินทร์ศักดิ์ เป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับนานาชาติด้าน Comparative Medicine, Anesthesia, Pain Management, Surgery และ Translational Research โดยมีบทบาทสำคัญในการพัฒนามาตรฐานการดูแลสัตว์ทดลองอย่างมีจริยธรรม การวิจัยด้านการระงับปวด และการสร้างองค์ความรู้ที่เชื่อมโยงจากห้องปฏิบัติการสู่การประยุกต์ใช้ทางคลินิก ตลอดจนการส่งเสริมเครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการในประเด็นสำคัญ เช่น One Health และการวิจัยเชิงแปลผล

การต้อนรับและการหารือในครั้งนี้นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการสร้างความร่วมมือกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากสถาบันชั้นนำของโลก ซึ่งจะช่วยเสริมศักยภาพด้านการวิจัยและนวัตกรรมของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และนำไปสู่การพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อระบบสุขภาพของประเทศอย่างยั่งยืน

 

MDKKU Joins Forces with Japanese Experts to Advance Cholangiocarcinoma Research

 

On 26 January 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, held a meeting to exchange knowledge with a delegation of Japanese medical experts to strengthen collaboration in research, prevention, and treatment of cholangiocarcinoma. The disease remains a major public health challenge in Thailand, particularly in the Northeast and the Mekong subregion.

The meeting was hosted by Assoc. Prof. Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, together with Asst. Prof. Attapol Titapun, a specialist in hepatobiliary surgery and senior researcher from the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute (CARI) and the Center of Excellence for Cholangiocarcinoma. The discussions focused on advancing academic cooperation between the institutions.

Asst. Prof. Attapol Titapun presented recent academic progress on disease causes, prevention strategies, and proactive treatment approaches, highlighting the importance of early detection to reduce disease severity and improve treatment outcomes. The meeting also included discussions on risk reduction, the application of research findings to patient care, and the development of screening systems targeting high-risk populations in areas with high disease incidence.

Over the years, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, has played a key role in advancing cholangiocarcinoma research through partnerships with leading international institutions and the translation of research into practice. One major achievement is the development of the OV-ATK screening test for cholangiocarcinoma, which has been widely adopted within the public health system. The test enables earlier detection of abnormalities and supports timely access to treatment.

This collaboration builds on existing academic networks between Japanese experts and the Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juraporn Tangpukdee, who coordinated the visit and facilitated discussions with the university’s leadership and medical faculty. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation in research, disease prevention, and patient care in a sustainable manner, contributing to stronger healthcare systems and improved quality of life in the long term.

The meeting also paved the way for joint research projects, staff and student exchanges, and the development of international academic activities. These efforts are expected to accelerate the generation of new knowledge and innovation in addressing cholangiocarcinoma, reflecting the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University’s commitment to global academic collaboration and the development of practical innovations to reduce disease burden and enhance public health outcomes.

เมื่อวันที่ 26 มกราคม 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น จัดการประชุมหารือและแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ร่วมกับคณะผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางการแพทย์จากประเทศญี่ปุ่น เพื่อยกระดับความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัย การป้องกัน และการรักษาโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ซึ่งยังคงเป็นหนึ่งในปัญหาสาธารณสุขสำคัญของประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือและภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง

โดยมี รองศาสตราจารย์ธรรศ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร พร้อมด้วย ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์อรรถพล ติตะปัญ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านศัลยศาสตร์ตับและนักวิจัยอาวุโส จากสถาบันวิจัยมะเร็งท่อน้ำดีและศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ให้การต้อนรับและหารือแนวทางความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ

โดยผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ อรรถพล ติตะปัญ ได้นำเสนอความก้าวหน้าทางวิชาการเกี่ยวกับสาเหตุของโรค แนวทางการป้องกัน และกลยุทธ์การรักษาเชิงรุก พร้อมเน้นความสำคัญของการตรวจพบโรคตั้งแต่ระยะเริ่มต้น เพื่อลดความรุนแรงของโรคและเพิ่มโอกาสในการรักษา นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านการลดปัจจัยเสี่ยง การนำผลงานวิจัยไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการดูแลผู้ป่วย และการพัฒนาระบบคัดกรองที่ครอบคลุมกลุ่มเสี่ยงในพื้นที่ที่มีอัตราการเกิดโรคสูง

ตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ร่วมกับสถาบันวิจัยมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี มีบทบาทสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนการวิจัยมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ผ่านความร่วมมือกับสถาบันชั้นนำในต่างประเทศ และการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้สู่การใช้งานจริง หนึ่งในความก้าวหน้าที่สำคัญคือการคิดค้นและพัฒนาชุดตรวจ (OV-ATK) สำหรับการคัดกรองมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ซึ่งปัจจุบันได้รับการนำไปใช้อย่างแพร่หลายในระบบสาธารณสุข ช่วยให้ตรวจพบความผิดปกติได้รวดเร็วขึ้น และสนับสนุนการเข้าถึงการรักษาอย่างทันท่วงที

ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้พัฒนาต่อยอดจากเครือข่ายทางวิชาการระหว่างผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากประเทศญี่ปุ่นและคณะพยาบาลศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร. จุฬาภรณ์ ตั้งภักดี ซึ่งได้ประสานงานและนำคณะผู้เชี่ยวชาญเข้าพบผู้บริหารและคณาจารย์คณะแพทยศาสตร์ เพื่อเปิดเวทีหารือและขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัย การป้องกันโรค และการดูแลผู้ป่วยอย่างยั่งยืน อันจะช่วยเสริมสร้างศักยภาพของระบบสาธารณสุขและยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในระยะยาว

การประชุมหารือครั้งนี้นำไปสู่การต่อยอดโครงการวิจัยร่วม การแลกเปลี่ยนบุคลากรและนักศึกษา รวมถึงการพัฒนากิจกรรมทางวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ ซึ่งจะช่วยเร่งการสร้างองค์ความรู้และนวัตกรรมใหม่ ๆ ในการรับมือกับโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ซึ่งได้สะท้อนทิศทางการทำงานของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ที่มุ่งเชื่อมโยงเครือข่ายวิชาการระดับโลก พร้อมพัฒนานวัตกรรมที่นำไปใช้ได้จริง เพื่อลดภาระโรคและยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในระยะยาว

 

 

MDKKU、日本の研究専門家と協力し、胆管がん研究の高度化を推進 

2026年1月26日、コンケン大学医学部 は、日本の医療専門家代表団 を迎え、胆管がんの研究・予防・治療分野における連携強化 を目的とした知識交流会議を開催しました。

胆管がんは、特にタイ東北部およびメコン川流域 において、依然として深刻な公衆衛生上の課題となっています。

本会議は、国際関係・企業コミュニケーション担当副学部長の Thuss Sanguansak 准教授 と、胆道・肝臓外科の専門医であり、胆管がん研究所（Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute：CARI）および胆管がんセンター・オブ・エクセレンスの上級研究員である Attapol Titapun 助教 が共同で主催しました。

協議では、両機関間における学術協力のさらなる発展 に焦点を当てた意見交換が行われました。

日本側代表団の構成員は以下のとおりです。

Attapol Titapun 助教 は、胆管がんの発症要因、予防戦略、ならびに先制的治療アプローチ に関する最新の学術的進展について発表し、早期発見の重要性 が疾患の重症化を抑制し、治療成績の向上につながる点を強調しました。また、会議では、リスク低減に向けた取り組み、研究成果の臨床応用、ならびに高罹患地域における高リスク集団を対象としたスクリーニング体制の構築 についても活発な意見交換が行われました。

これまでコンケン大学医学部 は、胆管がん研究所（Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute） と連携し、世界有数の国際機関との協力関係のもと、研究成果の実装（トランスレーション）を通じて、胆管がん研究の推進において中核的な役割 を果たしてきました。

その代表的な成果の一つが、胆管がんスクリーニング検査「OV-ATK」 の開発です。本検査は公衆衛生システムにおいて広く導入されており、異常の早期発見を可能にするとともに、適切かつ迅速な治療へのアクセスを支援 しています。

本連携は、Juraporn Tangpukdee 准教授（博士） が主導するコンケン大学看護学部 と日本の専門家との間に構築されてきた既存の学術ネットワークを基盤とするものです。今回の訪問においては、同准教授が調整役を務め、大学執行部および医学部関係者との協議を円滑に進めました。

本取り組みは、研究、疾病予防、患者ケア分野における持続可能な協力体制の強化 を目的としており、長期的には医療システムの強靭化と人々の生活の質（QOL）の向上 に貢献することが期待されています。

また、本会議を通じて、共同研究プロジェクトの推進、教職員および学生の交流、国際的な学術活動の展開 に向けた道筋が示されました。これらの取り組みは、胆管がん対策における新たな知見およびイノベーションの創出を加速 するとともに、疾病負荷の軽減および公衆衛生の向上に資する実践的イノベーションの創出 を目指す、コンケン大学医学部のグローバルな学術連携への強いコミットメント を示すものです。

孔敬大学医学院联合日本专家，深化胆管癌研究、预防与治疗合作

2026年1月26日，孔敬大学医学院举行学术交流会议，接待了来自日本的医学专家代表团。此次会议旨在加强双方在胆管癌（CCA）研究、预防及治疗领域的合作。胆管癌目前仍是泰国，特别是东北部及大湄公河次区域面临的主要公共卫生挑战。

会议由孔敬大学医学院负责国际关系与企业传播的副院长 Thuss Sanguansak 副教授，以及肝胆外科专家、胆管癌研究所（CARI）及胆管癌卓越中心资深研究员 Attapol Titapun 助理教授 共同主持。

日本代表团成员包括：

  • Ayumi Yoshifuji 副教授：庆应义塾大学医学院感染性疾病学系；鸟取大学医学部临床感染症学系候任教授。
  • Shinji Nakahara 教授：神奈川县立保健福祉大学健康创新研究生院；帝京大学医学院急诊医学系客座教授。

助理教授介绍了关于胆管癌病因、预防策略及积极治疗方法的最新学术进展，并强调了“早发现”在降低疾病严重程度和改善治疗效果中的关键作用。双方还就降低患病风险、将研究成果转化为临床实践，以及针对高发地区高危人群开发筛查系统进行了深入讨论。

多年来，孔敬大学医学院与胆管癌研究所致力于通过国际合作推动科研成果的临床转化。其中一项标志性成就是研发了 OV-ATK 胆管癌筛查试剂盒。该试剂盒已在公共卫生系统中得到广泛应用，显著提升了早期异常检出率，确保患者能够及时获得治疗。

此次合作基于日本专家与孔敬大学护理学院（由 Juraporn Tangpukdee 副教授领导）现有的学术网络。此次访问旨在建立可持续的研究与防治合作机制，从而完善医疗体系并提升民众的长远生活质量。

此外，会议还为双方开展联合研究项目、师生交流及国际学术活动铺平了道路。这些努力将加速胆管癌领域新知识与创新的产生，充分体现了孔敬大学医学院致力于国际学术协作、通过务实创新减轻疾病负担并提升全球公共卫生水平的坚定承诺。

Thailand’s First “Cancer Genome Analysis Asia” Workshop Hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, KKU — Advancing Cancer Genomics Research in Asia

 

On October 29, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU) warmly welcomed a group of distinguished international experts from the “Cancer Genome Analysis Asia” program — a hands-on international training workshop on cancer genome analysis (Cancer Genomics), hosted for the first time in Thailand.
The delegation was received by Assoc. Prof. Thuss Sanguansak, Vice Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, and Dr. Arporn Wangwiwatsin, from the Department of Systems Biosciences and Computational Medicine.

Cancer genome analysis (Cancer Genomics) is a field that studies the genetic information of cancer cells to better understand disease mechanisms and develop more effective personalized treatments — one of the key approaches in modern precision medicine.

The workshop, held from October 26–31, 2025, spanned five days and aimed to strengthen the capacity of Asian scientists in effectively analyzing and interpreting cancer genomic data. Participants engaged in intensive hands-on sessions covering various topics in bioinformatics, including:

  • Quality control of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
  • Detection of mutations and driver genes
  • Analysis of mutational signatures
  • Identification of structural variants in the genome

This initiative forms part of the Global Training Programme under Wellcome Connecting Science, the learning and training arm of the Wellcome Sanger Institute (UK). The program aims to enable global access to genomics knowledge and its impact on health through international workshops and courses held across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

The workshop gathered 29 participants from 10 Asian countries, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand.

This international collaboration not only enhances cancer research capacity across Asia but also fosters a sustainable scientific network in genomic medicine, reaffirming the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University’s role as a leading hub for global biomedical collaboration and learning.

 

 

 

ครั้งแรกในไทย! คณะแพทย์ มข. จัดอบรม “Cancer Genome Analysis Asia” ยกระดับงานวิจัยจีโนมมะเร็งสู่เวทีโลก

วันที่ 29 ตุลาคม 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เปิดบ้านต้อนรับคณะวิทยากรนานาชาติจากโครงการ “Cancer Genome Analysis Asia” ซึ่งเป็นการฝึกอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการระดับนานาชาติด้าน การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจีโนมของมะเร็ง (Cancer Genomics) จัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย โดยมี รองศาสตราจารย์ ธรรศ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร และ อาจารย์ ดร.อาภรณ์ หวังวิวัฒน์สิน จากโครงการจัดตั้งสาขาวิชาชีววิทยาศาสตร์ระบบและการแพทย์เชิงคอมพิวเตอร์ ให้การต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่น ณ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น

การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจีโนมของมะเร็ง (Cancer Genomics) เป็นศาสตร์ที่ศึกษาข้อมูลพันธุกรรมของเซลล์มะเร็ง เพื่อทำความเข้าใจกลไกการเกิดโรค และพัฒนาวิธีการรักษาแบบเฉพาะบุคคล (Personalized Medicine) ให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น ซึ่งถือเป็นหนึ่งในแนวทางสำคัญของการแพทย์ยุคใหม่

การอบรมครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 26–31 ตุลาคม 2568 รวมระยะเวลา 5 วัน มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสริมสร้างศักยภาพของนักวิทยาศาสตร์ในภูมิภาคเอเชีย ให้สามารถวิเคราะห์และตีความข้อมูลจีโนมของมะเร็งได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยเน้นการฝึกปฏิบัติจริงในด้านชีวสารสนเทศศาสตร์ (Bioinformatics) ครอบคลุมหัวข้อสำคัญ เช่น

  • การควบคุมคุณภาพข้อมูล Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • การตรวจหาการกลายพันธุ์และยีนขับเคลื่อน (Driver Gene Identification)
  • การวิเคราะห์ลายเซ็นการกลายพันธุ์ (Mutational Signatures)
  • การศึกษาความแปรปรวนเชิงโครงสร้างของจีโนม (Structural Variants)

MDKKU and Taipei Medical University Researchers Target Glutamine Metabolism in the Fight Against Bile Duct Cancer

 

In a cross-border effort to develop targeted therapies for cholangiocarcinoma, a form of bile duct cancer highly prevalent in northeastern Thailand, faculty members from Taipei Medical University have partnered with the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) to explore the role of glutamine metabolism as a new frontier in cancer treatment. 

On July 4, the Faculty of Medicine at KKU hosted Assoc. Prof. Ching-Feng Chiu and Asst. Prof. Ching-Wen Chang from the Graduate Institute of Metabolism and Obesity Sciences, Taipei Medical University. The delegation met with Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and faculty members including Assoc. Prof. Warachaya Phanphruk, Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Assoc. Prof. Kanlayanee Sawanyawisuth, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, and Assoc. Prof. Charupong Saengboonmee, Department of Biochemistry to discuss advancing high-impact biomedical research. 

The partnership is centered on metabolism research—particularly how cancer cells rely on glutamine as a key energy source. Both institutions are working to establish a long-term research strategy that connects local clinical challenges with global biomedical innovation.

Investigating Glutamine: A Metabolic Key to Cancer Cell Growth

Assoc. Prof. Ching-Feng Chiu and Asst. Prof. Ching-Wen Chang have been invited to serve as Research Visiting Professors at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, from July 3-12, 2025. During their visit, they are collaborating on a research project titled “Targeting Glutamine Metabolism Pathway for Cholangiocarcinoma Treatment,” coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Charupong Saengboonmee of the Department of Biochemistry. 

The project investigates the glutamine metabolic pathway—an energy source essential for the growth and survival of cancer cells. By using cultured cholangiocarcinoma cells and patient-derived tissue samples, the team aims to assess whether targeting this pathway could form the basis for a more selective and less toxic treatment strategy, compared to traditional methods.

From Bench to Forum: Academic Exchange and Capacity Building

Beyond laboratory research, Assoc. Prof. Ching-Feng Chiu and Asst. Prof. Ching-Wen Chang will contribute as featured speakers at The 19th International Symposium of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST2025), taking place July 7–9 in Khon Kaen. The symposium is organized by the Protein Society of Thailand in collaboration with Khon Kaen University’s Faculties of Medicine, Science, and Associated Medical Sciences. 

Additionally, they will serve as thesis proposal committee members for Ph.D. candidates in Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and will engage in knowledge exchange activities designed to build research capacity among local faculty and students.

A Regional Hub for Translational Research

This initiative affirms MDKKU’s growing role as a regional center for health sciences collaboration in Southeast Asia. By focusing on diseases endemic to Thailand and leveraging cutting-edge molecular approaches, MDKKU continues to attract global partnerships aligned with its mission to deliver meaningful, locally rooted biomedical solutions. 

“This is not merely an exchange of researchers,” said Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. “It is a joint effort to design the future of precision medicine—rooted in the specific health challenges of our region.”

เมื่อวันที่ 4 กรกฎาคม 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้เปิดบ้านต้อนรับนักวิจัยชั้นนำจาก Taipei Medical University ได้แก่ Assoc. Prof. Ching-Feng Chiu และ Asst. โดยศาสตราจารย์ทั้งสองได้เดินทางมาปฏิบัติงานในฐานะ Research Visiting Professor ณ สาขาวิชาชีวเคมี คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ระหว่างวันที่ 3–12 กรกฎาคม 2568 โดยดำเนินการวิจัยในหัวข้อ “การมุ่งเป้าวิถีเมแทบอลิซึมของกลูตามีนเพื่อการรักษามะเร็งท่อน้ำดี” (Targeting glutamine metabolism pathway for cholangiocarcinoma treatment) ภายใต้การประสานงานหลักโดย รศ. จารุพงษ์ แสงบุญมี สาขาวิชาชีวเคมี

เป้าหมายของงานวิจัย คือการศึกษากลไกการทำงานของวิถีเมแทบอลิซึมของกลูตามีน ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งพลังงานสำคัญที่เซลล์มะเร็งใช้ในการเจริญเติบโต โดยทีมวิจัยจะศึกษาเซลล์เพาะเลี้ยงของมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี รวมถึงชิ้นเนื้อจากผู้ป่วยจริง เพื่อประเมินความเป็นไปได้ของการใช้วิถีเมแทบอลิซึมของกลูตามีนเป็นเป้าหมายในการรักษาโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ที่เฉพาะเจาะจงต่อเซลล์มะเร็งและลดผลข้างเคียงจากการรักษาแบบเดิม

Khon Kaen University Delegation Visits Iga City General Hospital to Explore Academic and Research Collaboration

 

A delegation from Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand, led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU, paid an official visit to Iga City General Hospital in Japan on May 15, 2025. The visit was graciously hosted by Assoc. Prof. Hiroyuki Sakurai, Deputy Director of Iga City General Hospital.

The visit commenced with a courtesy call to the Director of Iga City General Hospital, followed by a fruitful discussion on the feasibility of establishing student and staff exchange programs between the two institutions. Both sides expressed strong interest in developing a sustainable academic partnership that will foster mutual growth in clinical education, medical research, and professional development.

The delegates were given a comprehensive tour of the hospital facilities, which highlighted the institution’s commitment to high-quality patient care and advanced medical services. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional collaboration, particularly in the areas of medical training, joint research initiatives, and the exchange of expertise between faculty and healthcare professionals.

2025年5月15日，由孔敬大学校长 Chanchai Phanthongviriyakul 副教授率领的代表团正式访问了日本伊贺市综合医院，受到医院副院长 Hiroyuki Sakurai 副教授的热情接待。

American Students Join Groundbreaking Cholangiocarcinoma Research at Khon Kaen University

 

Two U.S. graduate students have joined a cutting-edge cancer epidemiology program at Thailand’s Khon Kaen University (KKU), spotlighting the university’s growing role in global public health research.

Ms. Sarah Lawler, a Master of Public Health candidate from Boston University, and Ms. Nichcha Subdee, an advanced epidemiology student at Columbia University, have begun a 12-week academic exchange under the prestigious Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) program, funded by the U.S. National Cancer Institute. The program runs from 19 May to 8 August 2025.

 

 

Both students are hosted by the Department of Community, Family, and Occupational Medicine at KKU’s Faculty of Medicine and are mentored by Associate Professor Dr. Pattapong Kessomboon, a leading Thai expert in cancer epidemiology.

Their research focuses on cholangiocarcinoma, a rare but devastating bile duct cancer that occurs with striking frequency in northeast Thailand—up to 85 cases per 100,000 people, compared to just 1–2 per 100,000 in most countries.

Ms. Lawler’s project explores a possible link between the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and increased cholangiocarcinoma risk, using electronic medical records. Meanwhile, Ms. Subdee, who previously led research in gastrointestinal diseases in Thailand, applies machine learning techniques (LASSO regression) to develop predictive models for CCA risk factors specific to the northeastern Thai population.

The program allows both students to work alongside Thai experts from research design to data analysis and manuscript preparation for international publication.

This exchange exemplifies Thailand’s expanding role in collaborative, evidence-based research tackling complex global health challenges—and reaffirms Khon Kaen University’s position as a regional hub for cancer epidemiology.

ด้าน Ms. Nichcha Subdee นักศึกษาปริญญาโทด้านระบาดวิทยาขั้นสูง ณ Columbia University และอดีตเจ้าหน้าที่วิจัยที่มีประสบการณ์ด้านโรคระบบทางเดินอาหารในประเทศไทย ได้ประยุกต์เทคนิค machine learning โดยเฉพาะ LASSO regression เพื่อพัฒนาโมเดลทำนายปัจจัยเสี่ยงของโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดีในกลุ่มประชากรภาคอีสาน

ภายใต้การให้คำปรึกษาอย่างใกล้ชิดของ รศ.ปัตพงษ์ เกษสมบูรณ์ และทีมวิจัย นักศึกษาทั้งสองจะได้พัฒนางานวิจัยตั้งแต่การออกแบบ ไปจนถึงการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล และจัดทำต้นฉบับเพื่อเตรียมตีพิมพ์ในวารสารระดับนานาชาติ

การมาแลกเปลี่ยนในครั้งนี้นับเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญที่สะท้อนถึงศักยภาพของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นในฐานะแหล่งผลิตองค์ความรู้ทางการแพทย์ระดับโลก และเป็นเวทีให้นักวิจัยรุ่นใหม่ได้ร่วมขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายด้านสุขภาพโลก

两名美国研究生在泰国孔敬大学开展胆管癌流行病学研究

两名来自美国的公共卫生研究生近日开始在泰国东北部的孔敬大学进行为期12周的学术交流，参与胆管癌流行病学研究项目。该项目由美国国家癌症研究所资助，旨在促进国际癌症流行病学合作研究。

此次参加交流的两位学生分别是波士顿大学公共卫生硕士研究生Sarah Lawler与哥伦比亚大学高级流行病学研究生Nichcha Subdee。她们通过“特殊人群癌症流行病学教育项目”（Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations，CEESP）来到泰国，加入孔敬大学医学部社区医学、家庭医学与职业医学系开展联合研究。

在 Pattapong Kessomboon副教授的指导下，两位学生将围绕胆管癌的高风险因素展开研究。胆管癌是一种罕见但致命的癌症，在泰国东北部的发病率高达每10万人中85例，远高于世界其他地区的平均水平。

Lawler女士的研究关注质子泵抑制剂（PPI）使用与胆管癌风险之间的潜在关联。Subdee女士则运用包括LASSO回归在内的机器学习方法，构建适用于泰国东北部人群的胆管癌风险预测模型。

该学术交流项目使学生有机会与泰国本地研究人员密切合作，从研究设计到数据分析，再到国际期刊论文撰写，全面提升科研能力。

此次交流体现了泰美在全球卫生领域的持续合作，也进一步巩固了孔敬大学作为区域癌症流行病学研究中心的地位。

Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, thesis advisor, have been awarded prestigious scholarships by the Chinese government to participate in international research and academic exchange programs at Zhejiang University (ZJU) in the People’s Republic of China.

All four students have been selected to join the ZJU SDG Global Summer School 2025, and one of them has also been chosen to participate in The Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (GRIPS) 2025 —a highly competitive program supporting the development of future researchers worldwide. The scholarship recipients are:

  1. Chuthamat Klanghon – Master of Health and Medical Sciences
  2. Apichaya Grittichai – Master of Health and Medical Sciences
  3. Payaowadee Abthaisong – Doctor of Health and Medical sciences

นักศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา สาขาวิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์และสุขภาพ และสาขาชีวเคมีทางการแพทย์และชีววิทยาโมเลกุล คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ภายใต้การดูแลของ ผศ.ดร.จุฑารพ เพชระบูรณิน อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาวิทยานิพนธ์ ได้รับทุนรัฐบาลจีนเพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการวิจัยและแลกเปลี่ยนด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และสุขภาพ ณ มหาวิทยาลัยเจ้อเจียง (Zhejiang University – ZJU) สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน

โดยนักศึกษาทั้ง 4 คน ได้รับการสนับสนุนเข้าร่วม ZJU SDG Global Summer School 2025 และหนึ่งในนั้นยังได้รับคัดเลือกเข้าร่วมโครงการ The Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (GRIPS) 2025 ดังนี้:

新一代研究人员，来自孔敬大学医学院，获得中国政府奖学金，参与浙江大学的全球研究项目。

在Jutarop Phetcharaburanin副教授（论文导师）的指导下，来自孔敬大学医学院的四名研究生，获得了中国政府的奖学金，参与了在中华人民共和国浙江大学（ZJU）举办的国际研究与学术交流项目。

Japanese and Lao Delegates Explore MDKKU’s Innovative Lawa Model

 

On Monday, 27 January 2025, a distinguished delegation from Japan and Laos visited Khon Kaen Province to study the innovative “Lawa Model”, a community-driven approach to combating liver fluke infection and associated cancer. The delegation included representatives from Shinshu University, Nagano College of Nursing, the National University of Laos, and Champasak Province’s education and health sectors.

 

 

The delegation was led by prominent figures such as Associate Professor Sachi Tomokawa from Shinshu University, Associate Professor Takeshi Akiyama from Nagano College of Nursing, and Dr. Kongsy Chounlamany, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education, National University of Laos. They were joined by provincial and district health and education officials from Champasak Province.

 

 

 

Morning Highlights

The visit began with a briefing at the Khon Kaen Primary Education Service Area Office 2 in Ban Phai District, followed by an in-depth session at Lawa Village’s Health Promoting Hospital (HPH). The hospital director warmly welcomed the delegates before Professor Banchob Sripa presented an overview of liver fluke-related health issues and the pioneering “Lawa Model”. This model integrates disease prevention, health education, animal reservoir and environmental management to tackle liver fluke infections, a significant public health concern in the region.

 

 

At Lawa School, the group observed the “Liver Fluke–Free School” program, an educational initiative aimed at fostering health awareness among young students.

 

Immersive Afternoon Experience

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Lawa Lake to experience the practical applications of the Lawa Model. Activities included a live demonstration by village health volunteers on integrated liver fluke control efforts and a showcase of rural northeastern lifestyles.

 

 

Highlights of the visit included:

  • Traditional Fish Catching Demonstration: Local fishermen displayed their fishing techniques.

Cooking Demonstration: Delegates learned how to prepare the popular yet high-risk local dish “Koi Pla”, emphasizing safe cooking practices to prevent liver fluke infection.

  • Animal Reservoir Management: Associate Professor Sirikachorn Tangkawattana from Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine explained measures to manage animal hosts in the transmission cycle of liver flukes.
  • Environmental Modifications: The group explored sustainable approaches to modifying the local environment to minimize disease risks.

 

A Model for Global Collaboration

The visit underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in addressing public health challenges. Delegates praised the holistic nature of the Lawa Model, which integrates health promotion, education, and environmental sustainability. The insights gained are expected to inspire similar initiatives in Laos and beyond, fostering greater regional cooperation in public health innovation.

 

 

คณะผู้แทนจากญี่ปุ่นและลาวศึกษานวัตกรรม “Lawa Model” สู้โรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 27 มกราคม 2568 คณะผู้แทนจากญี่ปุ่นและลาวได้เดินทางเยือนจังหวัดขอนแก่น เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบนวัตกรรม “Lawa Model” ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางที่ขับเคลื่อนโดยชุมชนในการต่อสู้กับโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ คณะผู้แทนประกอบด้วย Associate Professor Sachi Tomokawa จาก Shinshu University Associate Professor Takeshi Akiyama จาก Nagano College of Nursing และ Dr. Kongsy Chounlamany รักษาการคณบดี คณะศึกษาศาสตร์ของ National University of Laos พร้อมทั้งผู้บริหารองค์กรด้านสาธารณสุขและการศึกษา แขวงจำปาสัก สปป. ลาว

 

กิจกรรมสำคัญในช่วงเช้า

เริ่มต้นที่ สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาขอนแก่น เขต 2 อำเภอบ้านไผ่ ก่อนเดินทางไปยัง โรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลบ้านละว้า (รพ.สต.บ้านละว้า) ตำบลเมืองเพีย อำเภอบ้านไผ่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น เพื่อรับฟังการบรรยายเชิงลึก โดยได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจากผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลฯ จากนั้น ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. บรรจบ ศรีภา ได้นำเสนอภาพรวมของปัญหาสุขภาพที่เกิดจาก โรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ และแนวทางการรับมือผ่าน “Lawa Model” ซึ่งเป็นต้นแบบในการป้องกันโรค การศึกษา และการจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาดังกล่าวอย่างเป็นระบบและยั่งยืน เนื่องจากโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับยังคงเป็นปัญหาสุขภาพที่สำคัญในพื้นที่

ที่โรงเรียนบ้านละว้า คณะผู้แทนได้เยี่ยมชมโครงการ “โรงเรียนปลอดพยาธิใบไม้ตับ” ซึ่งเป็นโครงการส่งเสริมสุขภาพเพื่อสร้างความตระหนักด้านสุขภาพให้กับนักเรียน

 

ประสบการณ์ที่น่าประทับใจในช่วงบ่าย

ในช่วงบ่าย คณะผู้แทนได้เยี่ยมชมแก่งละว้าเพื่อศึกษาการประยุกต์ใช้ Lawa Model  โดยกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ในช่วงบ่ายประกอบด้วยการสาธิตการควบคุมโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับเชิงบูรณาการโดยอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) และการนำเสนอชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนในพื้นที่ชุมชนภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ

 

การเยี่ยมชมจุดสำคัญ ประกอบด้วย

การสาธิตการจับปลาตามวิธีดั้งเดิม: ชาวประมงในท้องถิ่นได้แสดงเทคนิคการจับปลาในแก่งละว้า

การสาธิตการปรุงอาหาร: คณะผู้แทนได้เรียนรู้วิธีการเตรียมอาหารท้องถิ่น “ก้อยปลา” โดยเน้นให้เห็นถึงวิธีการปรุงอาหารให้ปลอดภัยจากโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

การจัดการแหล่งสัตว์ระบาด: รองศาสตราจารย์สิริขจร ตังควัฒนา จากคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้อธิบายแนวทางการจัดการสัตว์เป็นพาหะของพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

การปรับปรุงสิ่งแวดล้อม: คณะผู้แทนได้สำรวจแนวทางการปรับเปลี่ยนสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืนเพื่อลดความเสี่ยงจากโรค

 

โมเดลที่ส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระดับโลก

การเยี่ยมชมครั้งนี้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของความร่วมมือข้ามพรมแดนในการแก้ไขปัญหาด้านสุขภาพในระดับสากล คณะผู้แทนต่างชื่นชมลักษณะการบูรณาการของ Lawa Model ซึ่งผสมผสานการส่งเสริมสุขภาพ การศึกษา และความยั่งยืนด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม การมาเยือนในครั้งนี้คาดว่าจะช่วยในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาค รวมไปถึงการสร้างแรงบันดาลใจในการพัฒนาโครงการด้านนวัตกรรมทางสุขภาพในประเทศลาวและประเทศอื่น ๆ ทั่วโลก
