On 2 – 3 January 2019 The faculty of medicine together with Palliative Care Center, Srinagarind hospital, had held “How to Set Up Medical Cannabis Clinic within Supportive and Palliative Care Centers and Cannabis in Oncology and Palliative Care Conference” conference at science museum park, Khon Kaen. Thailand had just released the bill that allows cannabis to be for medical purpose together with Thai health department have issued a suggestion that every hospital should have a clinic that takes care of cannabis case. But soon we found out that we are lacking in human resources with enough knowledge to operate this clinic. For this reason, we, Khon Kaen University and Srinagarind Hospital had to cooperate with Sante Cannabis and McGill University to set up a workshop to teach our staff about cannabis. Khon Kaen University, Srinagarind Hospital, Sante Cannabis, and McGill University had co-operated and setup this conference in order to spread the knowledge about cannabis. During the opening ceremony, we had Assoc.Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, The President of Khon Kaen University and Assoc.Prof. Srivieng Pairojkul, Director of Srinagarind Hospital’s Palliative Care Center to be a chairman. During the conference, we also had speakers from Canada Assoc.Prof. Antonio Vigano and Ms. Virginie Bacis, Clinical nurse, which are both experts in cannabis for medical purpose to be a lead speaker. The conference was well received with over 300 participants. We hope that after this conference Srinagarind Hospital and The faculty of Medicine Khon Kaen University will be able to develop this field by ourselves and use this knowledge to save more people.
