International Cooperation: Emergency Medicine


Associate Professor Supat Sinawat, MD, MSc, FRTCOG, FICS, Associate Dean for International Relations and Cooperation Strategies, Acting for the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, welcomes Professor Osamu Ohneda, Executive Officer for International Strategies, Chairman of International Affairs, University of Tsukuba, Japan; Dr. Mayfong Mayxay, Vice President, University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR on the occasion of the opening ceremony of “The KKU-UT International Symposium on Emergency Medicine 2019: Strengthening EM Capacity through Multi-Country Collaboration”, at Meeting Room 1, Vechawitchakarn (Research) Building, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, on March 29, 2019.
 


 
Delegates from the University of Tsukuba, Japan are Professor Ichikawa Masao, Department of Global Public Health; Professor Yoshiaki Inoue, Department of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, Mr. Masatoshi Yokose, Manager for International Strategy; Dr. Takaaki Suzuki, Deputy Director for the International Medical Center. 
Delegates from Lao PDR are Dr. Thavone Chanthasone, Vice Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences; Dr. Vangnakhone Dittaphong, Deputy Director, Mittaphab Hospital, Head, Emergency Medicine Department, Mittaphab Hospital; Dr. Phonexay Kheuabphaphone, Deputy Head, Emergency Department, Mahosot Hospital; Dr. Khamsay Detlauxay, Head, Intensive Care Unit, Mahosot Hospital, Chairperson, Emergency Medicine Residency Program; Dr. Oulaivanh Phonesavanh, Physician, Intensive Care Unit, Mittaphab Hospital.



 
On this occasion, Professor Somsak Tiamkao, MD, Deputy Director, Srinagarind Hospital, gave a presentation on the Impact of Innovative Stroke App.  Some interesting topics included: Overview of EM & Human Resource Development and Solving Challenges through collaborative work; Simulation Training for Professionals; EMS System; Reducing RTA deaths by App, etc.  MD-KKU Collegues are Assistant Professor Korakot Apiratwarakul; Dr. Pariwat Phungoen; Dr. Phraewa Thatphet; Dr. Sivit Chanthawatthanarak; Misss Patchairn Auantri, Nursing Supervisor, Department of Emergency Medicine.
These academic cooperation activities between countries will help to develop the medical services in Emergency Medicine in the Greater Mekong Sub-region.
