Professor G. Allen Finley Visits Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University as Overseas Visiting Professor

 

May 21, 2025 – Khon Kaen, Thailand

On May 21, 2025, Professor G. Allen Finley, MD, FRCPC, FAAP, an internationally renowned expert in pediatric anesthesia and pain management from Dalhousie University, Canada, paid an official visit to the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU).

The visit was part of his assignment as an Overseas Visiting Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology from May 11-22, 2025. He was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Daris Theerakulpisut, Assistant for International Relations and Corporate Communication, during a courtesy call on the Faculty’s administration. Professor Finley was accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Panarat Ratanasuwan, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, and Assoc. Prof. Wimonrat Sriraj.

During his stay, Professor Finley is scheduled to deliver lectures and conduct workshops on key topics including Pediatric Anesthesia, Acute Pain Management, Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care, and Pediatric Pain Research. He will also provide hands-on teaching in pediatric surgery and the pain clinic, participate in team discussions on anesthesia in vulnerable patients, and consult on research proposals by medical interns and residents.

His engagement also includes leading sessions in the Pre-Congress Workshop, focusing on “Pediatric Anesthesia” and “Manuscript Writing in Pediatric Pain Research,” as well as offering academic support in postgraduate program development.

In addition to academic activities at KKU, Professor Finley also joined the departmental team in visiting two regional hospitals—Roi Et Hospital and Kalasin Hospital—as part of the Health Region 7 Pain Management Network Meeting. His participation in this regional collaboration reflects the Faculty’s active role in strengthening pain management services and capacity building throughout Northeastern Thailand.

This visit underscores the Faculty’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and advancing medical education and research in anesthesiology and pediatric pain management.

เมื่อวันที่ 21 พฤษภาคม 2568 Professor G. Allen Finley, MD, FRCPC, FAAP ผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับโลกด้านวิสัญญีวิทยาเด็กและการระงับปวด จาก Dalhousie University ประเทศแคนาดา ได้เดินทางมาเยือนคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.)

การเยือนครั้งนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของภารกิจในฐานะศาสตราจารย์ผู้มาเยือนจากต่างประเทศ (Overseas Visiting Professor) ประจำสาขาวิชาวิสัญญีวิทยา ระหว่างวันที่ 11-22 พฤษภาคม 2568 โดยในโอกาสนี้ ศาสตราจารย์ Finley ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะผู้บริหารคณะฯ ซึ่งได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจาก รองศาสตราจารย์ ดริส ธีระกุลพิศุทธิ์ ผู้ช่วยฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร ทั้งนี้ ได้รับการนำเยี่ยมโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ พนารัตน์ รัตนสุวรรณ หัวหน้าสาขาวิชาวิสัญญีวิทยา และ รองศาสตราจารย์ วิมลรัตน์ ศรีราช

ในระหว่างการเยือน ศาสตราจารย์ Finley มีกำหนดบรรยายและจัดการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการในหัวข้อสำคัญ ได้แก่ วิสัญญีวิทยาเด็ก การจัดการอาการปวดเฉียบพลัน การดูแลแบบประคับประคองในเด็ก และการวิจัยด้านการระงับปวดในเด็ก รวมถึงร่วมสอนภาคปฏิบัติในห้องผ่าตัดเด็กและคลินิกระงับปวด เข้าร่วมการประชุมทีมวิจัยในหัวข้อการระงับปวดในผู้ป่วยกลุ่มเปราะบาง และให้คำปรึกษาเกี่ยวกับข้อเสนอการวิจัยสำหรับนักศึกษาแพทย์และแพทย์ประจำบ้าน

นอกจากนี้ ศาสตราจารย์ Finley ยังทำหน้าที่เป็นวิทยากรในเวิร์กช็อปก่อนการประชุมวิชาการ (Pre-Congress Workshop) ในหัวข้อ “วิสัญญีวิทยาเด็ก” และ “การเขียนต้นฉบับงานวิจัยด้านการระงับปวดในเด็ก” พร้อมให้การสนับสนุนทางวิชาการในการพัฒนาหลักสูตรระดับหลังปริญญา

ในโอกาสเดียวกันนี้ ศาสตราจารย์ Finley ยังได้ร่วมเดินทางกับทีมสาขาวิชาวิสัญญีวิทยา ไปยังโรงพยาบาลร้อยเอ็ด และโรงพยาบาลกาฬสินธุ์ เพื่อเข้าร่วมประชุมเครือข่ายการระงับปวดในเขตสุขภาพที่ 7 ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงบทบาทของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการส่งเสริมเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาค และการพัฒนาศักยภาพด้านบริการการระงับปวดในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทย

การเยือนครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของคณะฯ ในการสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ และยกระดับการศึกษาและการวิจัยด้านวิสัญญีวิทยาและการระงับปวดในเด็กอย่างยั่งยืน

 

 

G. Allen Finley 教授作为海外客座教授访问孔敬大学医学院

2025年5月21日 – 泰国孔敬

2025年5月21日，来自加拿大戴尔豪斯大学（Dalhousie University），全球知名的儿童麻醉与疼痛管理专家 G. Allen Finley 教授（MD, FRCPC, FAAP）访问了孔敬大学医学院。

此次访问是他作为“海外访问教授”（Overseas Visiting Professor）于2025年5月10日至24日期间，在麻醉学系担任访问任务的一部分。访问期间，Finley 教授礼节性拜访了学院领导，并受到了孔敬大学医学院国际事务与企业传播助理院长、Dris Theerakulpisut 副教授的热情接待。此次行程由麻醉学系主任 Panarat Rattanasuwan 副教授和Wimonrat Sriracha 副教授陪同安排。

在访问期间，Finley 教授开展了一系列讲座与实务培训，涵盖儿童麻醉、急性疼痛管理、儿童姑息治疗及儿童疼痛研究等重要主题。他还参与了儿科手术室及疼痛门诊的临床教学，参加了以“脆弱群体疼痛管理”为主题的研究团队会议，并为医学生和住院医师的研究提案提供专业建议。

此外，Finley 教授还担任即将举行的学术年会的会前工作坊（Pre-Congress Workshop）讲者，主题为“儿童麻醉”以及“儿童疼痛研究论文撰写”，并提供关于发展研究生课程的学术支持。

与此同时，他还随孔敬大学麻醉学系团队前往黎逸府医院与加拉信府医院，参与第七健康区疼痛管理网络会议，展现了孔敬大学医学院在推动区域合作网络建设及提升泰东北疼痛管理服务能力方面的重要角色。

此次访问体现了孔敬大学医学院致力于推动国际合作，提升儿童麻醉与疼痛管理教育与研究水平的坚定承诺。

Khon Kaen University Delegation Visits Iga City General Hospital to Explore Academic and Research Collaboration

 

A delegation from Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand, led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU, paid an official visit to Iga City General Hospital in Japan on May 15, 2025. The visit was graciously hosted by Assoc. Prof. Hiroyuki Sakurai, Deputy Director of Iga City General Hospital.

The visit commenced with a courtesy call to the Director of Iga City General Hospital, followed by a fruitful discussion on the feasibility of establishing student and staff exchange programs between the two institutions. Both sides expressed strong interest in developing a sustainable academic partnership that will foster mutual growth in clinical education, medical research, and professional development.

The delegates were given a comprehensive tour of the hospital facilities, which highlighted the institution’s commitment to high-quality patient care and advanced medical services. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional collaboration, particularly in the areas of medical training, joint research initiatives, and the exchange of expertise between faculty and healthcare professionals.

เมื่อวันที่ 15 พฤษภาคม 2568 คณะผู้แทนจากมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดยรองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้เดินทางเยือนโรงพยาบาลเมืองอิกะ (Iga City General Hospital) ประเทศญี่ปุ่น อย่างเป็นทางการ โดยได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจากรองศาสตราจารย์ Hiroyuki Sakurai รองผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลฯ

2025年5月15日，由孔敬大学校长 Chanchai Phanthongviriyakul 副教授率领的代表团正式访问了日本伊贺市综合医院，受到医院副院长 Hiroyuki Sakurai 副教授的热情接待。

此次访问包括礼节性拜会伊贺市综合医院院长，并举行了双方会议，就开展学生与教职员工交流项目的可能性进行了深入探讨。双方表达了在临床教育、医学研究及人才培养等方面建立长期合作关系的共同愿望。孔敬大学代表团还参观了伊贺市综合医院的设施与服务系统，充分感受到医院在以高标准和先进医疗技术为患者提供优质护理方面的坚定承诺。

Khon Kaen University Renews Academic Collaboration with Mie University, Japan, Strengthening Global Academic Networks

 

On May 16, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of KKU, along with a delegation of representatives, visited Mie University in Japan to officially renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic collaboration between the two institutions.

 

 

The renewed agreement aims to expand cooperation in the exchange of faculty, staff, and students, as well as to support joint academic activities, collaborative research, and the sharing of academic knowledge and publications. This milestone marks another important step in strengthening international academic and research partnerships.

Established in 1949, Mie University is one of Japan’s leading national universities. It comprises several faculties, including Humanities, Law and Economics; Education; Medicine; Engineering; and Bioresources. The university also operates Mie University Hospital, which serves as both a medical service provider and a training center for medical and nursing students.

In 1994, the School of Medicine at Mie University and the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University signed an Academic Exchange Agreement, marking the beginning of a long-standing partnership that has since expanded to include student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and official institutional visits. In addition, various other faculties at KKU, such as Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Nursing, have also developed academic ties with Mie University.

มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นต่ออายุความร่วมมือกับ Mie University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เสริมสร้างเครือข่ายวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ

เมื่อวันที่ 16 พฤษภาคม 2568 มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดี พร้อมด้วยคณะผู้แทน เดินทางเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยมิเอะ (Mie University) ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เพื่อร่วมพิธีลงนามต่ออายุ บันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ (MOU) ระหว่างสองมหาวิทยาลัยอย่างเป็นทางการ

การลงนามในครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อขยายความร่วมมือด้านการแลกเปลี่ยนอาจารย์ บุคลากร และนักศึกษา ตลอดจนการสนับสนุนกิจกรรมทางวิชาการ การวิจัยร่วม และการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และสิ่งพิมพ์ทางวิชาการ โดยถือเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้านวิชาการและวิจัยสู่ระดับนานาชาติ

การต่ออายุบันทึกข้อตกลงในครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงช่วยสานต่อความร่วมมือเดิมเท่านั้น แต่ยังเปิดโอกาสใหม่ ๆ ในการขยายเครือข่ายความร่วมมือไปยังคณะและสาขาวิชาอื่น เช่น วิศวกรรมศาสตร์ รวมถึงการวิจัยสหวิทยาการที่เชื่อมโยงองค์ความรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพเข้ากับเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ อาทิ ระบบอัตโนมัติ ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ หุ่นยนต์ และนวัตกรรมเพื่อสุขภาพ นอกจากนี้ การแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ทางวิชาการ วัฒนธรรม และการพัฒนาทักษะระดับสากลของนักศึกษา ยังเป็นประโยชน์โดยตรงต่อการผลิตบัณฑิตที่มีวิสัยทัศน์และสามารถแข่งขันในเวทีโลกได้ในอนาคต

孔敬大学续签与日本三重大学的合作协议，推动国际学术网络建设

2025年5月16日，由孔敬大学校长、医学博士Charnchai Panthongviriyakul副教授率领的代表团，前往日本三重大学（Mie University），出席两校间学术合作谅解备忘录（MOU）续签仪式。

此次续签旨在进一步扩大双方在教师、职员与学生交流方面的合作，并推动学术活动支持、联合研究以及知识与学术出版物的交流。这是孔敬大学在建设国际学术与研究合作网络方面的又一重要举措。

三重大学（Mie University）成立于1949年，是日本著名的国立大学之一。该校设有多个学院，包括人文学院、法学与经济学学院、教育学院、医学部、工学部以及生物资源学院。此外，三重大学还设有三重大学附属医院（Mie University Hospital），由大学直接管理，不仅为公众提供医疗服务，也作为医学生和护理专业学生的实习培训基地。

早在1994年，三重大学医学院与孔敬大学医学院便签署了学术交流协议（Academic Exchange Agreement），由此开启了长期持续的合作关系，涵盖学生交流、教师与职员交流、联合科研以及高层代表团的正式互访等多项合作活动。此外，孔敬大学的多个学院也与三重大学建立了合作关系，包括工程学院、人文与社会科学学院以及护理学院

KKU Advances Global Mission through Strengthened Collaboration with Fujita Health University, Japan

 

On May 14, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of the University, visited Fujita Health University (FHU) in Japan to participate in the signing ceremony for the renewal of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This event marks another important milestone in the ongoing and sustainable academic collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in medicine and health sciences.

Fujita Health University, founded in 1964, is one of Japan’s leading private medical universities. It comprises three main schools: the School of Medicine, the School of Medical Sciences, and the School of Health Sciences. The university oversees four major affiliated hospitals located in Aichi and Mie prefectures, providing medical services and clinical education throughout the Chubu region of Japan.

Development of the Collaboration

2006: Initial academic collaboration between the two medical schools.

2007: Expansion to include the School of Health Sciences, with a focus on rehabilitation medicine.

2015: Signing of a university-level Memorandum of Understanding.

2022: Signing of an agreement to establish a Double Degree Ph.D. Program in Rehabilitation Medicine, aiming to develop high-level researchers and medical professionals with international competencies.

 

 

Objectives of the MOU Renewal

The renewed MOU focuses on enhancing collaboration in the following three key areas:

  1. Exchange of students, academic staff, and administrative personnel.
  2. Joint research in prioritized areas, such as rehabilitation medicine and medical technologies.

วันที่ 14 พฤษภาคม 2568 มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดี พร้อมคณะผู้แทน เดินทางเยือน Fujita Health University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เพื่อร่วมพิธีลงนามต่ออายุบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ (MOU) ซึ่งนับเป็นอีกหนึ่งก้าวสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือด้านการแพทย์และวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพระหว่างสองสถาบันอย่างยั่งยืน

Fujita Health University เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนชั้นนำด้านการแพทย์ของญี่ปุ่น ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 1964 และมีคณะหลัก 3 คณะ ได้แก่ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ คณะวิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์ และคณะวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ มหาวิทยาลัยมีโรงพยาบาลในเครือหลัก 4 แห่งที่ตั้งอยู่ในจังหวัดไอจิและมิเอะ ซึ่งให้บริการทางการแพทย์และการศึกษาทางการแพทย์ในภูมิภาคชูบุของญี่ปุ่น

2025年5月14日，孔敬大学校长 Chanachai Phanthongviriyakul 副教授率孔敬大学代表团前往日本藤田保健大学，出席并签署延长学术合作备忘录（MOU）的仪式。此次合作标志着两校在医学及健康科学领域的合作关系迈入新的阶段，朝着可持续发展的方向稳步推进。

藤田保健大学是日本著名的私立医科大学，成立于1964年，设有三个主要学院：医学部、医科学部以及健康科学部。大学旗下共有四所主要附属医院，分别位于爱知县与三重县，为日本中部地区提供医疗服务与医学教育支持。

合作进展包括：

  • 2006年：孔敬大学医学院与藤田保健大学开始建立合作关系。
  • 2007年：合作扩展至健康科学学院，重点推进复健医学领域的发展。
  • 2015年：双方签署大学层级的合作备忘录（MOU）。

American Students Join Groundbreaking Cholangiocarcinoma Research at Khon Kaen University

 

Two U.S. graduate students have joined a cutting-edge cancer epidemiology program at Thailand’s Khon Kaen University (KKU), spotlighting the university’s growing role in global public health research.

Ms. Sarah Lawler, a Master of Public Health candidate from Boston University, and Ms. Nichcha Subdee, an advanced epidemiology student at Columbia University, have begun a 12-week academic exchange under the prestigious Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) program, funded by the U.S. National Cancer Institute. The program runs from 19 May to 8 August 2025.

 

 

Both students are hosted by the Department of Community, Family, and Occupational Medicine at KKU’s Faculty of Medicine and are mentored by Associate Professor Dr. Pattapong Kessomboon, a leading Thai expert in cancer epidemiology.

Their research focuses on cholangiocarcinoma, a rare but devastating bile duct cancer that occurs with striking frequency in northeast Thailand—up to 85 cases per 100,000 people, compared to just 1–2 per 100,000 in most countries.

Ms. Lawler’s project explores a possible link between the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and increased cholangiocarcinoma risk, using electronic medical records. Meanwhile, Ms. Subdee, who previously led research in gastrointestinal diseases in Thailand, applies machine learning techniques (LASSO regression) to develop predictive models for CCA risk factors specific to the northeastern Thai population.

The program allows both students to work alongside Thai experts from research design to data analysis and manuscript preparation for international publication.

This exchange exemplifies Thailand’s expanding role in collaborative, evidence-based research tackling complex global health challenges—and reaffirms Khon Kaen University’s position as a regional hub for cancer epidemiology.

สองนักศึกษาอเมริกันร่วมวิจัยมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ณ มข. ภายใต้การดูแลของ รศ.ปัตพงษ์ เกษสมบูรณ์ สะท้อนบทบาทไทยบนเวทีสาธารณสุขโลก

สาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ชุมชน เวชศาสตร์ครอบครัว และอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ให้การต้อนรับสองนักศึกษาหญิงชาวสหรัฐอเมริกา ได้แก่ Ms. Sarah Lawler จาก Boston University และ Ms. Nichcha Subdee จาก Columbia University ในโอกาสเข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนวิชาการ Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) ระหว่างวันที่ 19 พฤษภาคม – 8 สิงหาคม 2568 โดยทั้งคู่ได้รับการดูแลด้านวิชาการโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ปัตพงษ์ เกษสมบูรณ์

โครงการ CEESP ซึ่งได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจากสถาบันมะเร็งแห่งชาติของสหรัฐอเมริกา มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้และพัฒนาทักษะวิจัยทางระบาดวิทยามะเร็งในบริบทประชากรเฉพาะ โดยเฉพาะในประเทศกำลังพัฒนา สำหรับที่มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นักศึกษาทั้งสองได้ลงพื้นที่ศึกษาวิจัยเกี่ยวกับ มะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ซึ่งพบอุบัติการณ์สูงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย

Ms. Sarah Lawler นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาโทด้านระบาดวิทยาและชีวสถิติ จาก Boston University มุ่งเน้นการวิจัยเพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการใช้ยา proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) กับความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี

ด้าน Ms. Nichcha Subdee นักศึกษาปริญญาโทด้านระบาดวิทยาขั้นสูง ณ Columbia University และอดีตเจ้าหน้าที่วิจัยที่มีประสบการณ์ด้านโรคระบบทางเดินอาหารในประเทศไทย ได้ประยุกต์เทคนิค machine learning โดยเฉพาะ LASSO regression เพื่อพัฒนาโมเดลทำนายปัจจัยเสี่ยงของโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดีในกลุ่มประชากรภาคอีสาน

ภายใต้การให้คำปรึกษาอย่างใกล้ชิดของ รศ.ปัตพงษ์ เกษสมบูรณ์ และทีมวิจัย นักศึกษาทั้งสองจะได้พัฒนางานวิจัยตั้งแต่การออกแบบ ไปจนถึงการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล และจัดทำต้นฉบับเพื่อเตรียมตีพิมพ์ในวารสารระดับนานาชาติ

การมาแลกเปลี่ยนในครั้งนี้นับเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญที่สะท้อนถึงศักยภาพของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นในฐานะแหล่งผลิตองค์ความรู้ทางการแพทย์ระดับโลก และเป็นเวทีให้นักวิจัยรุ่นใหม่ได้ร่วมขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายด้านสุขภาพโลก

两名美国研究生在泰国孔敬大学开展胆管癌流行病学研究

两名来自美国的公共卫生研究生近日开始在泰国东北部的孔敬大学进行为期12周的学术交流，参与胆管癌流行病学研究项目。该项目由美国国家癌症研究所资助，旨在促进国际癌症流行病学合作研究。

此次参加交流的两位学生分别是波士顿大学公共卫生硕士研究生Sarah Lawler与哥伦比亚大学高级流行病学研究生Nichcha Subdee。她们通过“特殊人群癌症流行病学教育项目”（Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations，CEESP）来到泰国，加入孔敬大学医学部社区医学、家庭医学与职业医学系开展联合研究。

在 Pattapong Kessomboon副教授的指导下，两位学生将围绕胆管癌的高风险因素展开研究。胆管癌是一种罕见但致命的癌症，在泰国东北部的发病率高达每10万人中85例，远高于世界其他地区的平均水平。

Lawler女士的研究关注质子泵抑制剂（PPI）使用与胆管癌风险之间的潜在关联。Subdee女士则运用包括LASSO回归在内的机器学习方法，构建适用于泰国东北部人群的胆管癌风险预测模型。

该学术交流项目使学生有机会与泰国本地研究人员密切合作，从研究设计到数据分析，再到国际期刊论文撰写，全面提升科研能力。

此次交流体现了泰美在全球卫生领域的持续合作，也进一步巩固了孔敬大学作为区域癌症流行病学研究中心的地位。

Experts from NROC, USA, Visit the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, to Explore Radiation Therapy Collaboration

 

On May 13, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU), warmly welcomed Dr. Cheng B. Saw, PhD, FAAPM, a leading radiation therapy expert from the United States and currently Director of Medical Physics at the Northeast Radiation Oncology Centers (NROC). His visit was part of an ongoing collaboration with the Department of Radiology aimed at exploring advancements in radiation therapy and future academic partnerships.

Dr. Saw expressed his intention to support the department’s initiatives following his retirement at the end of 2025. His shared vision includes the establishment of the region’s first Proton Therapy Center, the development of Master’s and Doctoral programs in Medical Physics, and enhanced teaching and training for radiology residents, medical students, and radiologic technology students.

 

 

During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Warinthorn Puttarak, Head of the Department of Radiology, accompanied Dr. Saw to meet Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, for an official introduction. ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจาก NROC สหรัฐฯ เยือนคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ร่วมหารือความร่วมมือด้านรังสีรักษา

เมื่อวันที่ 13 พฤษภาคม 2568 ที่ผ่านมา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ให้การต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นแก่ Dr. Cheng B Saw, PhD, FAAPM ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านรังสีรักษาระดับแนวหน้าจากสหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งดำรงตำแหน่ง Director of Medical Physics, Northeast Radiation Oncology Centers (NROC) โดยการเยือนครั้งนี้เกิดจากความร่วมมือกับสาขาวิชารังสีวิทยา เพื่อหารือแนวทางในการพัฒนาศักยภาพด้านรังสีรักษาและการศึกษาร่วมกันในอนาคต

Dr. Cheng B Saw แสดงความประสงค์ที่จะเข้าร่วมสนับสนุนงานของสาขารังสีวิทยาหลังเกษียณอายุราชการในช่วงปลายปี 2568 โดยมีเป้าหมายร่วมในการจัดตั้ง “ศูนย์โปรตอนเทอราปี” แห่งแรกในภูมิภาค พร้อมผลักดันหลักสูตรระดับปริญญาโทและเอกด้านฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ (Medical Physic) ตลอดจนสนับสนุนการเรียนการสอนสำหรับนักศึกษาแพทย์ประจำบ้านสาขารังสีวิทยา นักศึกษาแพทย์ และนักศึกษารังสีเทคนิค

ในโอกาสนี้ รองศาสตราจารย์วรินทร พุทธรักษ์ ได้นำ Dr. Chene B Saw เข้าพบคณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เพื่อแนะนำตัวอย่างเป็นทางการ พร้อมทั้งร่วมหารือถึงแนวทางความร่วมมือในการนำผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากต่างประเทศเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการพัฒนางานด้านวิชาการ การวิจัย และการบริการทางการแพทย์ภายในสาขาวิชารังสีวิทยา

Bridging Borders through Medicine: UK, Japan, and Australia Unite in Thai Medical Exchange

 

Khon Kaen, Thailand – May 2, 2025 

     In a powerful display of international collaboration, 11 medical students from Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom have completed a month-long clinical exchange program hosted by the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU). The program, which ran from April 9 to May 8, 2025, welcomed students from four globally recognized institutions: Wakayama Medical University and Fujita Health University School of Medicine (Japan), The University of Adelaide (Australia), and Imperial College London (UK).

     Designed to foster global learning and medical skill-building, the program placed final-year medical students in clinical rotations across key specialties such as radiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, OB-GYN, pediatric surgery, psychiatry, ENT, and more, all under the guidance of experienced Thai physicians at Srinagarind Hospital. 

     Beyond medical training, participants immersed themselves in Thailand’s healthcare system, gaining firsthand insight into patient care delivery, diagnostic tools, and the strong sense of compassion that underpins medical practice in the country. Many students shared how impressed they were by the professionalism, kindness, and warmth of both the teaching staff and hospital personnel. 

    But learning extended beyond the hospital walls. 

     During a lively Cultural Exchange Day, each nationality stepped into the role of cultural ambassador: 

Thailand: Thai students demonstrated the traditional art of ribbon fish weaving—a symbolic craft representing abundance and well-being. 

Australia: Students introduced Fairy Bread and the beloved Tim Tam biscuit—both staples of Australian childhood and national pride. 

United Kingdom: British students recreated a classic tea ritual, highlighting the deeply rooted tradition of tea drinking in British culture. 

Japan: Japanese participants shared the delicate art of origami, with special emphasis on the crane (Oritsuru), a symbol of peace and longevity. 

Indonesia: Also participating in the exchange activities was Andi Nurul Fadillah, a master’s student from Indonesia, who added a unique perspective by showcasing the beauty of Bali and other iconic destinations. She brought souvenirs and shared cultural stories, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere during the event. 

 

 

     As the exchange coincided with Songkran—Thailand’s world-famous New Year water festival—participants joined in the traditional celebrations hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, adding an unforgettable splash of culture to their journey. 

     They also explored cultural and historical landmarks in Khon Kaen and the northeastern region of Thailand, creating bonds and memories that extended far beyond clinical learning. 

     This international exchange exemplifies Khon Kaen University’s commitment to global medical education, cultural understanding, and sustainable healthcare development. It not only equips future doctors with clinical skills but also nurtures empathy, cross-cultural communication, and international cooperation—cornerstones of modern global health.

แพทย์นานาชาติรวมพลัง! นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนญี่ปุ่น-ออสเตรเลีย-อังกฤษ เก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณ์แพทย์ไทย พร้อมถ่ายทอดวัฒนธรรมประจำชาติ สร้างสายใยมิตรภาพไร้พรมแดน 

     เมื่อวันที่ 2 พฤษภาคม ที่ผ่านมา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เปิดบ้านต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์จาก 3 ประเทศ ได้แก่ ญี่ปุ่น ออสเตรเลีย และสหราชอาณาจักร รวมทั้งสิ้น 11 คน จาก 4 สถาบันชั้นนำระดับโลก ได้แก่ Wakayama Medical University และ Fujita Health University School of Medicine (ญี่ปุ่น), The University of Adelaide (ออสเตรเลีย) และ Imperial College London (สหราชอาณาจักร) ที่เดินทางมาแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ด้านเวชปฏิบัติและวัฒนธรรมไทย ระหว่างวันที่ 9 เมษายน – 8 พฤษภาคม 2568

     การแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้เน้นการฝึกทักษะทางคลินิกกับอาจารย์แพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากหลากหลายสาขา ณ โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ เช่น รังสีวิทยา เวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน ศัลยศาสตร์ สูติ-นรีเวช กุมารศัลยศาสตร์ โสต ศอ นาสิก ฯลฯ นักศึกษาได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์จริงกับระบบบริการสุขภาพของไทย ท่ามกลางบรรยากาศที่เต็มไปด้วยความรู้ การเอื้อเฟื้อ และความอบอุ่นจากอาจารย์และบุคลากรในโรงพยาบาล

อังกฤษ: จำลองพิธีดื่มชาแบบต้นตำรับ พร้อมบอกเล่าเรื่องราววัฒนธรรมชาวผู้ดีอังกฤษ 

ญี่ปุ่น: สาธิตศิลปะพับกระดาษ “โอริกามิ” โดยเฉพาะ “นกกระเรียน” (Oritsuru) ที่เป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งความโชคดีและอายุยืน 

อินโดนีเซีย: Andi Nurul Fadillah นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาโทจากประเทศอินโดนีเซีย ได้ร่วมกิจกรรมครั้งนี้ด้วย โดยพาเพื่อนร่วมโครงการท่องเที่ยวจินตนาการผ่านสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวชื่อดังอย่างเกาะบาหลี พร้อมของฝากและเรื่องเล่าวัฒนธรรมที่สร้างบรรยากาศอบอุ่นและน่าประทับใจตลอดกิจกรรม 

     ในช่วงเวลาเดียวกัน นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนยังได้ร่วมฉลอง เทศกาลสงกรานต์ กับคณะแพทย์ และเดินทางเยี่ยมชมสถานที่สำคัญในขอนแก่นและภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย โดยต่างกล่าวเป็นเสียงเดียวกันว่า “ประทับใจในความรู้ ความอบอุ่น และวัฒนธรรมไทยอย่างลึกซึ้ง” 

     โครงการนี้นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการแสดงบทบาทผู้นำด้านการแพทย์ระดับนานาชาติ พร้อมผลักดันการเรียนรู้ข้ามพรมแดนที่ไม่เพียงสร้างแพทย์มืออาชีพ แต่ยังปลูกฝังความเข้าใจซึ่งกันและกันระหว่างวัฒนธรรม สู่การพัฒนาระบบสุขภาพโลกที่ยั่งยืนในอนาคต

国际医学携手合作！来自日本、澳大利亚和英国的交流学生深入体验泰国医学，传递本国文化，结下跨越国界的友谊之桥 

     2025年5月2日，泰国孔敬大学医学院热情迎接来自三国的11名医学生，分别来自日本、澳大利亚和英国。这些学生来自四所世界知名学府：和歌山县立医科大学（Wakayama Medical University）、藤田医科大学（Fujita Health University School of Medicine）（日本）、阿德莱德大学（The University of Adelaide）（澳大利亚）以及帝国理工学院（Imperial College London）（英国）。此次交流项目于2025年4月9日至5月8日开展，旨在促进医学临床实践及文化的深入交流。 

本次参与交流的11名学生分别是：

     此次交流重在提升临床技能，学生们在孔敬大学附属的诗那卡琳医院（Srinagarind Hospital）参与多个科室的轮转学习，如放射科、急诊医学、外科、妇产科、小儿外科、耳鼻喉科等，并由资深的泰国医生亲自指导。学生们不仅亲身体验了泰国的医疗服务体系，还深刻感受到了医护人员的专业精神、热情帮助与温暖关怀。 

       除了医学知识的积累，本次交流也注重跨文化学习。通过名为“文化交流日”的活动，各国学生化身文化大使，生动展示本国文化特色： 

泰国： 泰国学生演示了传统的丝带编织鱼工艺，这种古老的手工艺象征着富足与健康。 

澳大利亚： 澳籍学生带来了童年回忆中的“Fairy Bread”和国民级零食“Tim Tam”，让现场洋溢着欢乐气氛。 

英国： 英国学生还原了地道的英式下午茶仪式，讲述英伦茶文化的独特魅力。 

日本： 日本学生展示了精美的折纸艺术，特别是象征和平与长寿的“纸鹤”（Oritsuru）。 

印度尼西亚： 来自印度尼西亚的硕士生 Andi Nurul Fadillah 也参与了此次交流活动。她通过展示巴厘岛及其他著名旅游胜地的魅力，带来了独特的视角。她还赠送了具有民族特色的纪念品，并分享了丰富的文化故事，为活动营造出温馨而包容的氛围 

       交流期间正值泰国新年“宋干节”，学生们还参与了医学院组织的泼水庆典，深入体验传统节日文化。此外，他们还走访了孔敬市及泰东北地区的重要文化和历史地标，收获了珍贵的友谊与难忘的回忆。 

      本次国际交流项目不仅展现了孔敬大学医学院在全球医学教育中的积极角色，更推动了跨国界的学习与合作。该项目不仅培养了专业的医生，也为未来构建可持续发展的全球卫生体系，播下了理解、包容与共融的种子。

“Khon Kaen – Mahidol” Join Forces with “Birmingham – Dundee” to Advance Thai Anatomy Education to International Standards

 

On May 6, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two leading universities from the United Kingdom: the College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham, and the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification, University of Dundee. The objective of this collaboration is to elevate anatomy education in Thailand to meet international standards.

This collaboration focuses on the development of knowledge and innovation in anatomy education, particularly through the application of the Thiel embalming technique. This method preserves tissue conditions and anatomical structures to closely resemble those of the living body, in terms of flexibility, skin tone, and tissue texture. It significantly enhances the practical training experience for medical students and residents, enabling them to acquire hands-on skills that closely simulate real clinical practice.

 

 

The signing ceremony took place at the Nong Waeng Conference Room, 6th floor, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, with executives from all participating institutions in attendance.

This collaboration will be a key mechanism in enhancing the potential of anatomy education, enabling it to keep pace with the challenges of modern medicine and meet the demands of global healthcare systems.”

This collaboration marks an important step in elevating anatomy education and research to international standards. The signing of this MOU not only strengthens the relationship between leading educational institutions from both countries but also opens up opportunities for high-quality cooperation with lasting impact on the global medical field.

“ขอนแก่น-มหิดล” ผนึกกำลัง “เบอร์มิงแฮม-ดันดี” เดินหน้ายกระดับกายวิภาคศาสตร์ไทยสู่มาตรฐานโลก

เมื่อวันที่ 6 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้ร่วมลงนามในบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (MOU) กับสองมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำจากสหราชอาณาจักร ได้แก่ College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham และ Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification, University of Dundee เพื่อยกระดับการศึกษากายวิภาคศาสตร์ของประเทศไทยให้เทียบเท่ามาตรฐานสากล

ความร่วมมือนี้มุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้และนวัตกรรมการสอนด้านกายวิภาคศาสตร์ โดยเฉพาะการประยุกต์ใช้เทคนิคการดองศพแบบ Thiel ซึ่งเป็นเทคนิคที่ช่วยรักษาสภาพเนื้อเยื่อและโครงสร้างร่างกายให้ใกล้เคียงกับสภาพจริงมากที่สุด ทั้งในด้านความยืดหยุ่น สีผิว และเนื้อเยื่อ ซึ่งจะช่วยเสริมสร้างทักษะการฝึกปฏิบัติของนักศึกษาแพทย์และแพทย์ประจำบ้านให้มีประสิทธิภาพใกล้เคียงกับการปฏิบัติงานจริง

ศาสตราจารย์ Tracey Wilkinson ผู้เชี่ยวชาญชั้นนำด้านกายวิภาคศาสตร์ ซึ่งมีประสบการณ์ยาวนานกว่า 30 ปีในแวดวงการศึกษากายวิภาค กล่าวถึงความสำคัญของความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ว่า “ความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติครั้งนี้ถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญในการผลักดันองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับเทคนิคการดองศพแบบ Thiel ซึ่งมีบทบาทอย่างมากในการฝึกทักษะปฏิบัติของนักศึกษาแพทย์และแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ความร่วมมือนี้จะเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพการศึกษากายวิภาคศาสตร์ให้ก้าวทันความท้าทายของการแพทย์ยุคใหม่ และตอบโจทย์ความต้องการของระบบสุขภาพในระดับสากล”

ความร่วมมือนี้ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการยกระดับการศึกษาและการวิจัยด้านกายวิภาคศาสตร์ให้เข้าสู่มาตรฐานโลก การลงนามในบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (MOU) ครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงช่วยกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาบันการศึกษาชั้นนำจากทั้งสองประเทศ แต่ยังเปิดประตูสู่ความร่วมมือที่มีคุณภาพ และก่อให้เกิดผลลัพธ์ที่ยั่งยืนต่อวงการแพทย์ต่อไป

孔敬大学与玛希隆大学携手伯明翰大学与邓迪大学 推动泰国解剖学迈向国际标准

2025年5月6日，孔敬大学医学院与玛希隆大学理学院，联合英国两所名牌大学–伯明翰大学医学与牙科科学学院（College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham）和邓迪大学人体解剖与身份识别中心（Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification, University of Dundee），签署了合作备忘录（MOU），旨在将泰国的解剖学教育提升至国际标准。

本次合作旨在推动解剖学教学知识与创新的发展，特别是推广 Thiel 防腐技术的应用该技术能够最大程度地保留尸体组织和解剖结构的真实状态，包括柔韧性、皮肤颜色和组织质感，从而有效提升医学生和住院医师的实操技能，使其训练过程更贴近真实临床环境。

解剖学领域的顶尖专家、拥有逾30年解剖学教育经验的 Professor Tracey Wilkinson 在谈及此次合作的重要性时表示 “这项国际合作是推动 Thiel 防腐技术知识传播的关键转折点。该技术在医学生与专业医生的实践技能培训中发挥着至关重要的作用。本次合作将成为增强解剖学教育能力的核心驱动力，使其能够应对现代医学的挑战，并满足全球医疗体系的需求。”

本次合作是提升解剖学教育与研究迈向国际标准的重要一步。此次签署合作备忘录（MOU），不仅加强了两国顶尖高等学府之间的关系，更为高质量的合作打开了大门，为医学界带来长远而深远的积极影响。

Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University Welcomes Exchange Student from Japan

 

On May 6, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University held a welcoming event for Mr. Eisuke Kon, an exchange student from Kyorin University, Japan. Mr. Kon is participating in an exchange program in the Departments of General Surgery and Emergency Medicine from May 7 to 29, 2025. The program is designed to enhance students’ clinical skills while also promoting the international exchange of medical knowledge and professional experiences.

As part of the program, the International Relations Office conducted an orientation session to provide key information about the faculty and surrounding areas of Khon Kaen University. The session also included introductory Thai language lessons for daily use, helping the student adapt and become familiar with the new environment smoothly. Additionally, he had the opportunity to visit various important locations on campus, including a trial ride on the KKU Smart Transit system, the university’s internal transportation network.

This activity marks another significant step in strengthening academic collaboration between Khon Kaen University and international educational institutions. It also serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, culture, and professional medical experiences, contributing to the sustainable development of human resources on a global scale.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ต้อนรับนักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนจากประเทศญี่ปุ่น

เมื่อวันที่ 6 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้จัดกิจกรรมต้อนรับ Mr. Eisuke Kon นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนจาก Kyorin University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งเข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยน ณ สาขาศัลยกรรมทั่วไป และสาขาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน ในช่วงระหว่างวันที่ 7- 29 พฤษภาคม 2568 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะให้แก่นักศึกษา พร้อมทั้งเปิดโอกาสให้เกิดการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านวิชาชีพทางการแพทย์ในระดับนานาชาติ

โดยงานวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ได้มีการปฐมนิเทศเพื่อแนะนำข้อมูลสำคัญเกี่ยวกับคณะฯ และสถานที่โดยรอบมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น พร้อมกิจกรรมการแนะนำภาษาไทยเบื้องต้น สำหรับใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน เพื่อให้นักศึกษาได้ปรับตัวและทำความคุ้นเคยกับสภาพแวดล้อมใหม่อย่างราบรื่น อีกทั้งได้เยี่ยมชมสถานที่สำคัญต่างๆ ภายในมหาวิทยาลัย อาทิเช่น การทดลองใช้บริการ KKU Smart Transit ซึ่งเป็นระบบขนส่งภายในมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น

กิจกรรมดังกล่าวนับเป็นอีกหนึ่งก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างมหาวิทยาลั ยขอนแก่นกับสถาบันการศึกษานานาชาติ ทั้งยังเป็นเวทีในการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ วัฒนธรรม และประสบการณ์ทางวิชาชีพด้านการแพทย์ อันจะนำไปสู่การพัฒนาทรัพยากรมนุษย์ในระดับสากลอย่างยั่งยืน

孔敬大学医学院欢迎来自日本的交换学生

2025 年5月6日，孔敬大学医学院举行欢迎仪式，迎接来自日本杏 林大学的交换生Eisuke Kon先生。他将于2025年5月7日至29日期 间，参与普通外科及急诊医学系的交换项目。该项目旨在提升学生的临床 技能，并促进国际间医学专业知识与经验的交流。

作为项目的一部分，国际事务处组织了迎新培训，向交换生介绍学院 的重要信息及孔敬大学周边环境，并安排了基础泰语教学，帮助其适应并 熟悉新环境。此外，还带领其参观校园内的重要设施，包括试乘孔敬大学 内部交通系统——KKU Smart Transit。

此次活动是加强孔敬大学与国际教育机构之间学术合作的又一重要举 措，同时也为医学专业知识、文化和经验的交流提供了平台，有助于实现 全球范围内人力资源的可持续发展。
