The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has successfully continued its Residency Partnership Program with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR. The program, which was initiated in 2003, recently welcomed 13 third-year resident physicians from Lao PDR for training in the Department of Internal Medicine from July 1 to August 31, 2025.

The 13 resident doctors from Lao PDR were: Dr. Sayaphet Rattanavong, Dr. Somboun Phommata, Dr. Bounmy Thepkaisone, Dr. Vannaly Lidsavanhno, Dr. Viengphone Sodahuk, Dr. Linda Souksavath, Dr. Sisouvan Herxaycha, Dr. Kenglor Xiaying, Dr. Noutta Sounthala, Dr. Solaya Mekmaysy, Dr. Lattanaphone Phonevilay, Dr. Sengdaokham Keomanyvong, and Dr. Latsamy Phongphan.

 

 

The program’s objective is to develop the skills of medical personnel in Lao PDR, and the clinical rotation at the KKU Faculty of Medicine is a key requirement of their residency curriculum. A survey of past participants revealed that they were having improved their knowledge in patient care and learned about rare diseases not found in Laos. They also gained experience with modern medical technology and equipment.

During the training, the 13 Lao physicians had the opportunity to practice in various sub-specialties of internal medicine, including General Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pneumology, Critical care, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Infectious disease, Hematology, Oncology, and Nephrology. They also participated in academic activities with Thai residents, which helped them gain additional knowledge and confidence for their future practice in Lao PDR.

This training not only elevates the competency of Lao medical personnel but also reinforces the strong academic collaboration between the two nations. It contributes to the sustainable development of healthcare quality for the people of the region.

ม.ขอนแก่น และ สปป.ลาว สานต่อความร่วมมือด้านการแพทย์ เสริมแกร่งบุคลากรรุ่นใหม่

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ประสบความสำเร็จในการสานต่อโครงการ Residency Partnership Program ซึ่งเป็นโครงการความร่วมมือกับคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ (University of Health Sciences) สปป.ลาว ที่ริเริ่มมาตั้งแต่ปี 2003 โดยล่าสุดได้ต้อนรับแพทย์ประจำบ้านชั้นปีที่ 3 จำนวน 13 คน จาก สปป.ลาว เพื่อเข้ารับการฝึกอบรมในภาควิชาอายุรศาสตร์ ระหว่างวันที่ 1 กรกฎาคม – 31 สิงหาคม 2568

แพทย์ประจำบ้านจาก สปป.ลาว ทั้ง 13 คน ได้แก่ Dr. Sayaphet Rattanavong, Dr. Somboun Phommata, Dr. Bounmy Thepkaisone, Dr. Vannaly Lidsavanhno, Dr. Viengphone Sodahuk, Dr. Linda Souksavath, Dr. Sisouvan Herxaycha, Dr. Kenglor Xiaying, Dr. Noutta Sounthala, Dr. Solaya Mekmaysy, Dr. Lattanaphone Phonevilay, Dr. Sengdaokham Keomanyvong และ Dr. Latsamy Phongphan

โครงการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ใน สปป.ลาว ซึ่งการหมุนเวียนฝึกปฏิบัติงาน (Clinical Rotation) ที่คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ถือเป็นหนึ่งในข้อกำหนดที่สำคัญของหลักสูตรแพทย์ประจำบ้าน การสำรวจความเห็นจากแพทย์ลาวที่เคยเข้าร่วมโครงการพบว่า พวกเขาได้รับประโยชน์อย่างมากจากการฝึกอบรม โดยสามารถพัฒนาความรู้ในการดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วย และได้เรียนรู้กรณีโรคที่หาได้ยากในประเทศลาว รวมถึงการใช้เทคโนโลยีและอุปกรณ์ทางการแพทย์ที่ทันสมัย

ในระหว่างการฝึกอบรม แพทย์ลาวทั้ง 13 คน มีโอกาสได้ฝึกปฏิบัติงานในหลากหลายสาขาวิชาของอายุรศาสตร์ ได้แก่ อายุรกรรมทั่วไป, โรคหัวใจ, ต่อมไร้ท่อ, โรคปอด, ผู้ป่วยหนักวิกฤต, โรคข้อและรูมาติสซั่ม, ทางเดินอาหาร, โรคติดเชื้อ, โลหิตวิทยา, มะเร็งวิทยา และโรคไต

นอกจากนี้ แพทย์ประจำบ้านลาวยังได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมทางวิชาการร่วมกับแพทย์ประจำบ้านของไทย ซึ่งช่วยให้พวกเขาได้รับความรู้เพิ่มเติมและเกิดความมั่นใจในการนำความรู้กลับไปใช้ในการปฏิบัติงานจริงที่ สปป.ลาว การฝึกอบรมในครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยยกระดับความสามารถของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ลาว แต่ยังเป็นการตอกย้ำความสัมพันธ์อันดีและส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างสองประเทศ เพื่อร่วมกันพัฒนาคุณภาพการดูแลสุขภาพของประชาชนในภูมิภาคให้ดียิ่งขึ้นอย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป

 

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) continues to establish itself as a prominent hub for international medical education through its successful exchange programmes. Recently, KKU welcomed two accomplished medical students from Europe: Miss Lea Pavlin from Slovenia and Miss Kata Barabás from Hungary, who participated in short-term exchange projects facilitated by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations of Thailand (IFMSA-Thailand).

 

 

Miss Lea Pavlin, a third-year medical student from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, completed a four-week research project at the Department of Biochemistry. Her research focused on the “Roles of Complement Component C5 in the Development of Cholangiocarcinoma.” This laboratory-based study aimed to enhance the understanding of the mechanisms by which C5, an immune system protein, might influence the growth of bile duct cancer cells. Miss Pavlin expressed her appreciation for the comprehensive research experience, from hypothesis development to results presentation.

Miss Kata Barabás, a fourth-year medical student from the Faculty of Medicine at Semmelweis University, Hungary, undertook a four-week exchange in the fields of Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychiatry. She noted that in Hungary, these two disciplines are not as distinctly separated as in Thailand, allowing her to recognise the profound significance and complexity of Rehabilitation Medicine. In Psychiatry, Miss Barabás learned the crucial role of active listening and patient observation, skills extending beyond mere diagnosis.

The experiences of both students underscore the invaluable impact of international exchange programmes in nurturing clinical and research skills while fostering cross-cultural understanding. Such initiatives are vital in cultivating a strong sense of Global Health awareness and preparing future medical professionals for the challenges and opportunities of an interconnected world.

ม.ขอนแก่น เสริมสร้างแพทย์รุ่นใหม่ระดับโลก ผ่านโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนานาชาติ

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ประสบความสำเร็จในการเป็นศูนย์กลางการเรียนรู้ทางการแพทย์ระดับนานาชาติอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยล่าสุดได้ต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์จากยุโรปสองคน คือ Miss Lea Pavlin จากสาธารณรัฐสโลวีเนีย และ Miss Kata Barabás จากประเทศฮังการี ซึ่งทั้งสองได้เข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนระยะสั้นภายใต้การดำเนินงานของสมาพันธ์นิสิตนักศึกษาแพทย์นานาชาติแห่งประเทศไทย (IFMSA-Thailand)

Miss Lea Pavlin เป็นนักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 3 จาก Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana สาธารณรัฐสโลวีเนีย เธอได้ร่วมโครงการวิจัย ณ สาขาวิชาชีวเคมี เป็นเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ หัวข้อโครงการของเธอคือ “Roles of Complement Component C5 in the Development of Cholangiocarcinoma” (บทบาทของคอมพลีเมนต์ คอมโพเนนต์ C5 ในการพัฒนามะเร็งท่อน้ำดี) งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาในห้องปฏิบัติการเพื่อทำความเข้าใจกลไกของ C5 ซึ่งเป็นโปรตีนในระบบภูมิคุ้มกัน ที่อาจมีผลต่อการเติบโตของเซลล์มะเร็งท่อน้ำดี Lea แสดงความประทับใจที่ได้มีส่วนร่วมในกระบวนการวิจัยครบวงจร ตั้งแต่การตั้งสมมติฐานไปจนถึงการนำเสนอผลงาน

Miss Kata Barabás นักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 4 จาก Faculty of Medicine, Semmelweis University ประเทศฮังการี ได้เข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนเป็นเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ ในสาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟูและจิตเวชศาสตร์ เธอให้ข้อมูลว่าในประเทศฮังการี ทั้งสองสาขาวิชานี้ไม่ได้ถูกแยกออกมาอย่างชัดเจนเหมือนที่ประเทศไทย ทำให้เธอได้เห็นความสำคัญของเวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟูว่าเป็นศาสตร์ที่มีความหมายและซับซ้อนอย่างยิ่ง ส่วนในสาขาจิตเวชศาสตร์ Kata ได้เรียนรู้ถึงความสำคัญของการรับฟังและการสังเกตผู้ป่วย ซึ่งเป็นทักษะที่ลึกซึ้งกว่าแค่การวินิจฉัย

ประสบการณ์จากนักศึกษาทั้งสองคนชี้ให้เห็นว่าโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยพัฒนาทักษะทางคลินิกและงานวิจัย แต่ยังเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่ได้เรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างออกไป ซึ่งเป็นส่วนสำคัญในการสร้างความเข้าใจด้านสุขภาพโลก (Global Health) และเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในอนาคตได้อย่างแท้จริง

 

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has successfully concluded its summer internship programme for two students from the United States. Miss Skyla Sheehy and Miss Kathryn Yanes Diehl completed a four-week internship from June 30 to August 1, 2025, gaining valuable experience and contributing to the university’s mission of internationalisation.

 

 

Miss Skyla Sheehy, a third-year student from the University of Florida, interned in the Department of Community, Family, and Occupational Medicine. Her experience included observing at KKU’s primary care clinics and Srinagarind Hospital’s gynaecology outpatient department. She also assisted with a health examination at Ban Hin Lad Wang To School.

Miss Kathryn Yanes Diehl, a second-year Biomedical Engineering student from Ohio State University, interned at the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute. She gained hands-on experience by observing surgery, performing DNA extraction, and analysing genetic sequences through coding. This internship provided a unique opportunity to apply her engineering knowledge to real-world medical challenges.

The university expresses its congratulations to both students on the successful completion of their internships. This program not only offered them professional development and a deeper understanding of a new culture but also strengthened the collaboration between institutions and enhanced KKU’s international profile.

ม.ขอนแก่น เสริมแกร่งภารกิจนานาชาติ ต้อนรับนักศึกษาอเมริกัน สู่การแลกเปลี่ยนทางการแพทย์

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เดินหน้าตามยุทธศาสตร์ “การพัฒนาสู่ความเป็นนานาชาติ” ด้วยการจัดโครงการฝึกงานภาคฤดูร้อนสำหรับนักศึกษาจากสหรัฐอเมริกา 2 คน คือ Miss Skyla Sheehy และ Miss Kathryn Yanes Diehl

นักศึกษาทั้งสองได้มีโอกาสฝึกปฏิบัติงานในสายวิชาที่แตกต่างกันอย่างลงตัว โดย Miss Skyla Sheehy  นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 3 จาก University of Florida ได้เข้าฝึกงานเป็นเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ ณ สาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ชุมชน เวชศาสตร์ครอบครัว และอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ เธอมีความสนใจพิเศษในด้านสุขภาพสตรี และได้มีส่วนร่วมในกิจกรรมที่หลากหลาย เช่น การสังเกตการณ์ในคลินิกปฐมภูมิของมหาวิทยาลัย และแผนกผู้ป่วยนอกทางนรีเวชที่โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ รวมถึงการลงพื้นที่ชุมชนที่โรงพยาบาลแก่งคร้อ และการช่วยตรวจสุขภาพนักเรียนที่โรงเรียนบ้านหินลาดวังโต

ในส่วนของ Miss Kathryn Yanes Diehl นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 2 สาขาวิชา Biomedical Engineering จาก Ohio State University ได้เข้าร่วมโครงการฝึกงานที่โครงการจัดตั้งสาขาวิชาชีววิทยาศาสตร์ระบบและการแพทย์เชิงคอมพิวเตอร์เป็นเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ เธอได้รับประสบการณ์ที่ผสมผสานความรู้ด้านวิศวกรรมเข้ากับวิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์ เช่น การสังเกตการณ์การผ่าตัด การฝึกปฏิบัติในห้องปฏิบัติการเพื่อสกัด DNA จากเนื้องอกและพืช และการวิเคราะห์ลำดับพันธุกรรมด้วยโค้ด

ประสบการณ์การฝึกงานครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาได้พัฒนาทักษะทางวิชาชีพ แต่ยังเป็นรากฐานสำคัญในการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและเสริมสร้างภาพลักษณ์ความเป็นสากลของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งต่อการพัฒนาวงการการศึกษาและการแพทย์ของไทยในระยะยาวต่อไป

 

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has reaffirmed its commitment to internationalisation by hosting two medical students from Université Paris Cité, France. Miss Tania Dubois-Mignon and Miss Bérengère Lemesre completed an eight-week medical elective at Srinagarind Hospital, gaining valuable clinical experience and insights into Thailand’s healthcare system.

As part of their training, Miss Dubois-Mignon focused on several key departments, including Paediatric Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Medicine, and Anesthesiology. Miss Lemesre, aspiring to become a surgeon, chose to specialise in Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and General Surgery.

 

 

Their presentations highlighted a keen interest in comparing the Thai and French medical systems, particularly noting the different disease pathologies they encountered. A notable finding was the high incidence of Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in Northeast Thailand, a rare disease that provided a unique learning opportunity.

Beyond their medical studies, both students fully immersed themselves in Thai culture. Their interactions with Thai medical students and staff helped them to gain a deeper understanding of the local education and social security systems. This exchange not only enhanced their clinical skills but also fostered a valuable exchange of knowledge and perspectives that is expected to benefit the medical field in the future.

สองนักศึกษาแพทย์ฝรั่งเศส ‘แลกเปลี่ยนความรู้’ สู่การยกระดับการแพทย์ไทย

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ประสบความสำเร็จอีกครั้งในการส่งเสริมยุทธศาสตร์การพัฒนาสู่ความเป็นนานาชาติ (Internationalization Transformation) ด้วยการต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์ชาวฝรั่งเศสจาก Université Paris Cité สาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศส จำนวน 2 คน ได้แก่ Miss Tania Dubois-Mignon และ Miss Bérengère Lemesre เพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการศึกษาดูงานและฝึกปฏิบัติงาน ณ โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ เป็นเวลา 8 สัปดาห์

นักศึกษาทั้งสองคนได้มีโอกาสฝึกปฏิบัติงานในหลายแผนกที่น่าสนใจ โดย Miss Tania Dubois-Mignon ได้เน้นที่สาขาวิชากุมารศัลยศาสตร์, สาขาวิชาสูติศาสตร์และนรีเวชวิทยา, สาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน และสาขาวิชาวิสัญญีวิทยาในขณะที่ Miss Bérengère Lemesre ซึ่งมีความตั้งใจจะเป็นศัลยแพทย์ในอนาคต ได้เลือกฝึกปฏิบัติงานในสาขาวิชากุมารศัลยศาสตร์, สาขาวิชาศัลยศาสตร์ตกแต่ง และสาขาวิชาศัลยศาสตร์ทั่วไป

จากการนำเสนอผลการศึกษาดูงานพบว่านักศึกษาทั้งสองต่างประทับใจกับประสบการณ์ที่ได้รับอย่างมาก โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการได้เปรียบเทียบระบบการแพทย์ระหว่างไทยและฝรั่งเศสในด้านพยาธิสภาพของโรคที่แตกต่างกัน ซึ่งถือเป็นองค์ความรู้ที่หาได้ยาก เช่น โรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี (Cholangiocarcinoma) ซึ่งพบอุบัติการณ์สูงในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย

นอกจากการเรียนรู้ทางการแพทย์แล้ว นักศึกษาทั้งสองยังได้สัมผัสกับวัฒนธรรมไทยอย่างเต็มที่ รวมถึงการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับนักศึกษาแพทย์และบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ของไทย ซึ่งช่วยให้พวกเธอเข้าใจระบบการศึกษาและระบบประกันสุขภาพของไทยได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

ประสบการณ์ครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่จะช่วยพัฒนาทักษะทางคลินิกให้กับนักศึกษาเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และมุมมองระหว่างสองประเทศ ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งต่อการพัฒนาวงการแพทย์ในอนาคตต่อไป

 

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University has welcomed two graduate students from the United States for an immersive research and observation experience focused on cancer epidemiology. The students are participating in the Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) programme, an initiative supported by the U.S. National Cancer Institute aimed at developing expertise in cancer epidemiology within specific populations.

Miss Nichcha Subdee and Miss Sarah Anna Yong are undertaking a 12-week practicum and data collection project at the university’s Department of Community, Family, and Occupational Medicine, running from 19 May to 8 August 2025.

Miss Nichcha Subdee, a student from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, is concentrating her research on the risk factors for Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in Northeast Thailand. She is utilising a retrospective case-control study design and employing machine learning techniques to develop a model that identifies key risk factors. As a recipient of a Royal Thai Government scholarship, Miss Subdee is scheduled to return to work at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Public Health upon graduation.

Miss Sarah Anna Yong, a student from Boston University School of Public Health, is investigating the relationship between the use of Proton Pump Inhibitors and Cholangiocarcinoma. Her research leverages electronic medical records from Srinagarind Hospital, located in a region that records one of the highest incidences of the disease globally. Miss Yong has a particular interest in global health, with a focus on the epidemiology of cancer and infectious diseases.

Both students have had the opportunity to collaborate with expert researchers and faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University. Their experience has also extended to visiting local community hospitals, including Phon Hospital and Nam Phong Hospital, and participating in a range of academic activities. In addition to their academic pursuits, both Miss Subdee and Miss Yong have been able to immerse themselves in the local culture across Khon Kaen and other provinces.

This experience has provided a significant platform for both students, not only for their academic and professional development but also for broadening their perspectives and fostering a deep and positive impression of Thailand.

เปิดประสบการณ์นักศึกษาแพทย์ปริญญาโทจากสหรัฐฯ สู่การวิจัยมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ณ ม.ขอนแก่น

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ต้อนรับนักศึกษาปริญญาโทจากสหรัฐอเมริกา 2 คน ในโอกาสเข้าศึกษาดูงานและทำวิจัยด้านระบาดวิทยามะเร็ง (Cancer Epidemiology) ตามโครงการ Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) ซึ่งเป็นโครงการที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสถาบันมะเร็งแห่งชาติ (National Cancer Institute) ของสหรัฐอเมริกา โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อพัฒนาบุคลากรด้านระบาดวิทยามะเร็งในพื้นที่ที่มีความจำเพาะของประชากร

นักศึกษาทั้งสองคนได้แก่ Miss Nichcha Subdee และ Miss Sarah Anna Yong ซึ่งการมาเยือนในครั้งนี้ เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการฝึกปฏิบัติงาน และการเก็บข้อมูลวิจัย ณ สาขาวิชาเวชศาสตร์ชุมชน เวชศาสตร์ครอบครัว และอาชีวเวชศาสตร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ระหว่างวันที่ 19 พฤษภาคม – 8 สิงหาคม 2568 รวมระยะเวลา 12 สัปดาห์

ทางด้าน Miss Nichcha Subdee นักศึกษาจาก Mailman School of Public Health มหาวิทยาลัย Columbia University ได้มุ่งเน้นการวิจัยเกี่ยวกับปัจจัยเสี่ยงของโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี (Cholangiocarcinoma: CCA) ในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบกรณีควบคุมย้อนหลัง (Retrospective Case-Control Study) และใช้เทคนิค Machine Learning เข้ามาช่วยในการสร้างแบบจำลองเพื่อระบุปัจจัยเสี่ยงสำคัญ ทั้งนี้ Miss Nichcha ซึ่งเป็นนักเรียนทุนรัฐบาลไทย มีกำหนดกลับมาปฏิบัติงานที่ภาควิชาระบาดวิทยาและชีวสถิติ คณะสาธารณสุขศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น หลังสำเร็จการศึกษา

ส่วน Miss Sarah Anna Yong นักศึกษาจาก Boston University School of Public Health ได้ดำเนินงานวิจัยเกี่ยวกับการประเมินความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการใช้ยา Proton Pump Inhibitors กับโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี โดยใช้ข้อมูลเวชระเบียนอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ซึ่งเป็นโรงพยาบาลในพื้นที่ที่มีอุบัติการณ์ของโรคนี้สูงที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งของโลก Miss Sarah Anna Yongมีความสนใจเป็นพิเศษในด้าน Global Health โดยเฉพาะระบาดวิทยาของโรคมะเร็งและโรคติดเชื้อ

ทั้งนี้ นักศึกษาทั้งสองต่างได้ทำงานร่วมกับอาจารย์และนักวิจัยผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และยังได้มีโอกาสเยี่ยมชมโรงพยาบาลชุมชนในจังหวัด เช่น โรงพยาบาลพล และโรงพยาบาลน้ำพอง รวมถึงการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมทางวิชาการและสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมไทยในหลากหลายพื้นที่ ทั้งในจังหวัดขอนแก่นและต่างจังหวัด ทำให้ประสบการณ์ครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นการเรียนรู้ทางวิชาการ แต่ยังเป็นการเปิดโลกทัศน์และสร้างความประทับใจที่ดีต่อนักศึกษาทั้งสองคนอีกด้วย

 

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) is reinforcing its international strategy by welcoming student from National Pingtung University (NPTU) in Taiwan for a six-week internship focused on medical illustration. The exchange, which will run from 18 July to 27 August 2025, aims to enhance skills in producing medical models and strengthen academic ties between the two institutions.

The students, undergraduate Miss Huang, Yu-Chen, is from NPTU’s Department of Science Communication. Her placement will be with KKU’s Department of Medical Illustration, where they will learn to merge technical model-making skills with science communication principles to make complex medical knowledge more accessible to the public.

Miss Huang’s primary project during the internship will be the creation of a detailed model of the human vestibular system. The model is intended to accurately visualize the dynamics of the inner ear, including fluid movement within the three semicircular canals and the positional changes of otoliths, as a contribution to science education.

The exchange is facilitated by Dr. Liu, Lan-Yu of NPTU and will be supervised at KKU by Dr. Kan Komany of the Medical Illustration program.  The initiative underscores the Faculty of Medicine’s growing role as a regional hub for health sciences education. In support of the program, KKU is providing the students with accommodation in the medical student dormitory.

แพทย์ มข. ต้อนรับนักศึกษาไต้หวัน แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ “เวชนิทัศน์” ต่อยอดความร่วมมือวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) เดินหน้ายุทธศาสตร์ความเป็นนานาชาติ ต้อนรับนักศึกษาจาก National Pingtung University (NPTU) ประเทศไต้หวัน เข้าฝึกปฏิบัติงานและแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ ณ สาขาวิชาเวชนิทัศน์ ตลอดระยะเวลาราว 6 สัปดาห์ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 กรกฎาคม ถึง 27 สิงหาคม 2568 เพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะด้านการผลิตหุ่นจำลองทางการแพทย์และกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทางวิชาการระหว่างสองสถาบัน

Miss Huang, Yu-Chen นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี จากภาควิชาการสื่อสารวิทยาศาสตร์ (Department of Science Communication) ได้แสดงความสนใจอย่างยิ่งที่จะเข้ามาเรียนรู้ความเชี่ยวชาญของสาขาวิชาเวชนิทัศน์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. โดยเฉพาะด้านการสร้างสรรค์หุ่นจำลองทางการแพทย์ เพื่อประยุกต์ใช้ทักษะด้านเทคนิคเข้ากับการสื่อสารวิทยาศาสตร์ ทำให้องค์ความรู้ที่ซับซ้อนสามารถเข้าถึงได้ง่ายขึ้น

สำหรับเป้าหมายหลักในการฝึกงานครั้งนี้ Miss Huang, Yu-Chen ตั้งใจที่จะสร้างผลงาน “หุ่นจำลองระบบการทรงตัวในหูของมนุษย์ (human vestibular system)” ซึ่งจะแสดงให้เห็นการเคลื่อนไหวของของเหลวภายในท่อครึ่งวงกลมและการเปลี่ยนแปลงตำแหน่งของผลึกหินปูนในหูชั้นใน เพื่อเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการศึกษาและการสื่อสารทางวิทยาศาสตร์ต่อไป

การแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นจากการประสานงานระหว่าง Dr. Liu, Lan-Yu หัวหน้าภาควิชาการสื่อสารวิทยาศาสตร์ จาก NPTU และ อาจารย์ ดร.แคน กอมณี ประธานหลักสูตรสาขาวิชาเวชนิทัศน์ มข. ซึ่งเป็นอาจารย์ผู้ดูแลนักศึกษาตลอดการฝึกงาน การรับนักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนในครั้งนี้ นับเป็นการตอกย้ำศักยภาพและความพร้อมของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ในการเป็นศูนย์กลางการเรียนรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพในระดับภูมิภาค

 

 

A Thai doctor with extensive experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has completed a two-week clinical observership at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine, aiming to bridge her international training with the Thai medical system.

Dr. Natcha Jarupanitkul, who recently served as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, an Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust institution, undertook the placement at Srinagarind Hospital’s Department of Otorhinolaryngology.

Having graduated from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and with two years of clinical experience in the UK, Dr. Jarupanitkul reported that the experience was invaluable. She had the opportunity to observe a wide range of ENT cases in both outpatient clinics and operating theatres, including complex conditions such as chronic ear disease, head and neck cancers, and sinonasal pathology.

She expressed her gratitude to the ENT team at Srinagarind Hospital for their warm welcome and generous teaching, noting that the experience provided her with valuable insights into the Thai ENT training system and healthcare pathways. The placement successfully met its objective of connecting knowledge and experience between the Thai and British public health systems.

แพทย์ไทยจาก Oxford ต่อยอดความรู้ “โสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยา” เชื่อมระบบสาธารณสุขสองชาติ

แพทย์หญิงณัชชา จารุพาณิชย์กุล แพทย์ไทยผู้มีประสบการณ์จากระบบบริการสุขภาพแห่งชาติ (NHS) สหราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งได้เข้าสังเกตการณ์และแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ ณ สาขาวิชาโสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยา เป็นเวลา 2 สัปดาห์ โดยแพทย์หญิงณัชชาได้สรุปผลการศึกษาดูงานว่าได้รับประสบการณ์อันล้ำค่าและประทับใจในศักยภาพของโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ นับเป็นการบรรลุวัตถุประสงค์ในการเชื่อมโยงองค์ความรู้และประสบการณ์ระหว่างระบบสาธารณสุขของไทยและสหราชอาณาจักรได้เป็นอย่างดี

ภายหลังเสร็จสิ้นโครงการ แพทย์หญิงณัชชารายงานว่า ตลอดระยะเวลา 2 สัปดาห์ ณ โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ได้มีโอกาสสังเกตการณ์เคสผู้ป่วยทางโสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยาที่หลากหลาย ทั้งในหอผู้ป่วยนอก (OPD) และในห้องผ่าตัด (Operating Theatres) ครอบคลุมโรคที่ซับซ้อน เช่น โรคหูเรื้อรัง มะเร็งบริเวณศีรษะและลำคอ และพยาธิสภาพในโพรงจมูกและไซนัส นอกจากนี้ ยังได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมวิชาการของภาควิชา (Academic Day) ทำให้ได้รับข้อมูลเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับระบบการฝึกอบรมแพทย์เฉพาะทางของประเทศไทย โดยได้กล่าวขอบคุณทีมแพทย์และบุคลากรของสาขาวิชาฯ สำหรับการต้อนรับที่อบอุ่นและการถ่ายทอดความรู้อย่างเต็มที่

 

 

On 9 July 2025, the Department of Pharmacy at Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, welcomed a delegation of professors and students from the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University, China, for an academic visit aimed at fostering cross-cultural exchange and professional growth in the field of pharmacy.

Led by Professor Li Changsong and Associate Professor Fu Chen, the visiting group included 20 pharmacy students from first to fourth year, who engaged in an immersive learning experience within the Thai healthcare system. The study tour offered insights into both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) pharmaceutical services, focusing on drug management, patient care, ethics, and interdisciplinary communication.

The student participants were: Tang Xuelian, Li Siyu, Gao Shimin, He Jinfeng, Luo Linyu, Gu Yulu, Song Xi, Luo Shuling, Zhang Lan, Tan Junping, Wang Yifei, He Junchen, Luo Dawei, Xiang Xingyue, Wei Liwen, Liu Qian, Tian Hongji, Luo Shuyue, Xie Xiyao, and Zhou Da.

The Chinese students expressed admiration for Thailand’s patient-centred healthcare system, noting the balance between technical expertise and compassionate care. The programme not only strengthened mutual understanding between the two institutions but also laid the groundwork for future international collaboration in pharmacy education and healthcare innovation.

นักศึกษาเภสัชฯ จีน ดูงานรพ.ศรีนครินทร์ เรียนรู้ระบบสุขภาพไทย เสริมพลังวิชาชีพข้ามพรมแดน

เมื่อวันที่ 9 กรกฎาคม 2568 ฝ่ายเภสัชกรรม โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เปิดบ้านต้อนรับคณะอาจารย์และนักศึกษาจาก College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน ที่เดินทางมาศึกษาดูงานด้านการบริบาลทางเภสัชกรรมในระบบสาธารณสุขไทย

การศึกษาดูงานครั้งนี้ครอบคลุมทั้งบริบทผู้ป่วยนอก (OPD) และผู้ป่วยใน (IPD) โดยเน้นให้ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เรียนรู้ระบบบริหารจัดการยา การให้บริการด้านเภสัชกรรม และการดูแลผู้ป่วยอย่างเป็นองค์รวม ทั้งในด้านวิชาชีพและจริยธรรม พร้อมทั้งเปิดเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้กับทีมเภสัชกรไทยอย่างใกล้ชิด

In a continued effort to foster global medical collaboration and educational exchange, the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) welcomed international medical students and doctor in July 2025 as part of academic exchange programs.

The exchange marks a significant step toward building global understanding through shared medical learning and represents Thailand’s growing role in the international health education arena.

Among the visiting students:

Miss Kata Barabas, a fourth-year medical student from the Faculty of Medicine, Semmelweis University, Hungary, is participating in clinical observerships within the Departments of Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychiatry, aiming to gain insights into holistic patient care in both physical and mental health settings.

Miss Lea Pavlin, a third-year student from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, is conducting research at the Department of Biochemistry. Her project, titled “Roles of the complement system in the progression of cholangiocarcinoma,” explores molecular pathways in bile duct cancer in collaboration with Thai researchers.

Dr. Natcha Jarupanichkul, a Thai medical doctor currently serving as a Senior House Officer in Otolaryngology at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, United Kingdom, has returned to Thailand to join a two-week clinical observership in Otolaryngology. Her participation emphasizes bilateral knowledge exchange and continued professional connection between Thai physicians and international institutions.

All activities are being conducted under the close supervision of KKU’s clinical and academic faculty, ensuring not only safe exposure to real clinical settings but also meaningful engagement with Thailand’s healthcare systems, from wards and outpatient clinics to research laboratories.

The exchange program offers more than academic insight—it serves as a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, professional growth, and the nurturing of future global health leaders. Students are encouraged to bring new perspectives back to their home institutions, fostering mutual understanding and shared responsibility in global health development.

As part of its long-standing mission, the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University continues to serve as a regional academic hub for the Greater Mekong Subregion, promoting international partnerships and sustainable medical education that extend beyond national borders.

Seven early-career medical specialists from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic have successfully completed a one-year clinical training program hosted by the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU), in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) and the University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR.

The program, which ran from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, was made possible through support from the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). It represents a trilateral partnership aimed at strengthening regional health systems by advancing the capacity of medical professionals in the Mekong subregion.

Throughout the year, the participating physicians engaged in training across various medical specialties at Srinagarind Hospital and the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast. Activities included clinical rotations, case discussions, procedural observations, and supervised practice under the guidance of Thai faculty experts.

 

 

Fellows and Their Areas of Specialization:

1. Kaisouksavanh Mounlaphome – Minimal Invasive Surgery

Trained in laparoscopic techniques in liver, bowel, and abdominal procedures. He also began developing a surgical curriculum for implementation at a new university hospital in Lao PDR.

2. Sithisack Paanyavatthanassinh – Laparoscopic Gynecology

Focused on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery for conditions such as uterine fibroids and endometriosis. He plans to establish a laparoscopic gynecology service in Laos.

3. Souphaphone Houamboun – Urogynecology

Gained exposure to the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor disorders including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, with supervised practice in outpatient and surgical settings.

4. Vannasy Keoboutdy – Rhinology

Trained in endoscopic sinus and nasal surgery, including management of chronic sinusitis and nasal tumors, along with image analysis and multidisciplinary case reviews.

5. Viengphone Sangmala – Body Imaging (Radiology)

Developed diagnostic expertise in CT and MRI interpretation of the abdomen, thorax, and vascular systems, participating in regular radiology rounds and tumor boards.

6. Sisavanh Nanthavongsa – Pediatric Critical Care

Completed intensive care rotations in the Pediatric ICU, focusing on emergency stabilization, advanced ventilation strategies, and case-based discussions with Thai critical care teams.

7. Vanida Bounthavy – Pediatric Cardiovascular Intervention

Trained at the Queen Sirikit Heart Center, learning pediatric cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and congenital heart disease management alongside interventional cardiologists.

This training initiative not only enhanced the clinical competencies of individual physicians, but also empowered them to develop context-specific strategies for patient care, medical education, and health service delivery in Lao PDR.

Under close academic supervision by Thai faculty, the fellows gained practical experience aligned with international standards—laying a foundation for leadership in their respective specialties at home.

Khon Kaen University remains committed to its mission of serving as a regional academic hub for health sciences in the Greater Mekong Subregion. ตลอดระยะเวลา 1 ปีเต็ม คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ต้อนรับแพทย์จาก Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR จำนวน 7 คน เข้าร่วมการฝึกอบรมทางคลินิกในสาขาเฉพาะทางที่โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์และศูนย์หัวใจสิริกิติ์ ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ระหว่างวันที่ 1 กรกฎาคม 2567 – 30 มิถุนายน 2568

โครงการนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่าง 3 สถาบัน ได้แก่ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข., Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ และ มหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ สปป.ลาว โดยได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF)

1. Kaisouksavanh Mounlaphome – Minimal Invasive Surgery ได้ร่วมสังเกตการณ์และฝึกเทคนิคผ่าตัดผ่านกล้องในระบบตับ ลำไส้ และช่องท้อง พร้อมเตรียมวางแนวทางจัดตั้งหลักสูตรศัลยกรรมในลาว
2. Sithisack Paanyavatthanassinh – Laparoscopic Gynecology ได้ฝึกขั้นตอนการผ่าตัดผ่านกล้องในโรคนรีเวช เช่น เนื้องอกมดลูกและภาวะเยื่อบุโพรงมดลูกเจริญผิดที่ ร่วมวางแผนจัดตั้งบริการรักษาในประเทศตนเอง
3. Souphaphone Houamboun – Urogynecology ได้สัมผัสกระบวนการดูแลสตรีที่มีความผิดปกติของอุ้งเชิงกราน เช่น ภาวะกลั้นปัสสาวะไม่ได้ และภาวะอวัยวะหย่อน โดยได้รับโอกาสฝึกในห้องผ่าตัดและคลินิกภายใต้ทีมแพทย์ผู้มีประสบการณ์
4. Vannasy Keoboutdy – Rhinology ได้ศึกษาเทคนิคผ่าตัดโพรงจมูกและไซนัส ทั้งในเคสทั่วไปและกรณีซับซ้อน พร้อมฝึกวิเคราะห์ภาพทางรังสีและเข้าร่วมประชุมผู้ป่วยร่วมสาขา
5. Viengphone Sangmala – Radiology – Body Imaging ได้เรียนรู้การอ่านภาพ CT และ MRI ของช่องท้อง ปอด หลอดเลือดและระบบทางเดินอาหาร โดยร่วมวินิจฉัยกับทีมรังสีแพทย์หลากหลายสาขา
6. Sisavanh Nanthavongsa – Pediatric Critical Care ประจำในหอผู้ป่วยวิกฤตเด็ก (PICU) ฝึกจัดการภาวะฉุกเฉินในเด็ก การใช้เครื่องช่วยหายใจหลากหลายระบบ รวมถึงการประชุมกรณีศึกษากับโรงพยาบาลเครือข่าย
7. Vanida Bounthavy – Pediatric Cardiovascular Intervention ได้ร่วมฝึกกระบวนการวินิจฉัยและหัตถการด้านหัวใจเด็ก เช่น cardiac catheterization และ echocardiography โดยมีส่วนร่วมกับทีมแพทย์เฉพาะทางตลอดกระบวนการดูแลผู้ป่วย

 

การอบรมครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงเสริมทักษะเฉพาะด้านให้กับแพทย์ผู้เข้าอบรม แต่ยังเป็นเวทีให้แต่ละคนได้พัฒนาแนวทางการจัดการทางคลินิก นวัตกรรมการเรียนรู้ และการดูแลผู้ป่วยที่เหมาะสมกับบริบทของประเทศตนเอง

ภายใต้ความร่วมมือเชิงสถาบันและการกำกับดูแลอย่างเป็นระบบจากอาจารย์แพทย์ของไทย แพทย์ลาวทุกคนได้สะสมประสบการณ์สำคัญที่พร้อมนำไปต่อยอดในบทบาทผู้นำทางการแพทย์ของลาวในอนาคต

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ยังคงยึดมั่นในพันธกิจของการเป็นศูนย์กลางการแพทย์และการศึกษาในภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง พร้อมขยายเครือข่ายการเรียนรู้สู่ประเทศเพื่อนบ้านอย่างต่อเนื่อง
