The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently hosted Dr. Mr. Theenaphark Phanthavong, a third-year resident doctor from the University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR, for an elective program in Emergency Medicine. Running from February 1 to February 28, 2025, the program took place at Srinagarind Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine, offering hands-on clinical training and knowledge exchange.
This initiative is part of the Thailand-Lao PDR medical collaboration, aimed at equipping Lao doctors with advanced emergency care skills while elevating healthcare standards in ASEAN.
Bridging Knowledge Through Practical Emergency Medicine Training
During his time at KKU, Dr. Phanthavong engaged in intensive learning experiences, gaining firsthand exposure to Thailand’s emergency medical protocols and technology. The training covered:
- Critical Emergency Patient Management – Training in assessment and treatment protocols based on international best practices.
- Advanced Life-Saving Techniques & Medical Equipment – Hands-on experience with ventilators, ultrasound diagnostics, and defibrillators.
- Interdisciplinary Teamwork – Working alongside emergency physicians, nurses, and paramedics to develop a holistic approach to patient care.
- International Emergency Medicine Workshops – Participating in cross-border knowledge exchange on best practices in trauma and emergency care.
Strengthening Emergency Medical Collaboration Between Thailand & Lao PDR
Beyond clinical training, this program serves as a significant step toward deeper collaboration in emergency medicine between Thailand and Lao PDR. Future initiatives under discussion include:
- Joint training programs between KKU and Lao medical institutions.
- Physician and medical personnel exchange programs to foster skill enhancement.
- Collaborative research projects focusing on emergency medicine and trauma care across ASEAN.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ต้อนรับแพทย์ประจำบ้านจาก สปป. ลาว ศึกษาดูงานด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) ต้อนรับ Dr. Mr. Theenaphark Phanthavong แพทย์ประจำบ้านชั้นปีที่ 3 จากมหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ สปป. ลาว เพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการ ศึกษาดูงานและแลกเปลี่ยนด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน (Elective Program in Emergency Medicine) ระหว่างวันที่ 1 กุมภาพันธ์ – 28 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 ณ ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์
โครงการดังกล่าวเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ ความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ไทย-ลาว ซึ่งมุ่งเสริมสร้างทักษะและประสบการณ์ให้แก่แพทย์จากประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน พร้อมยกระดับการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินในภูมิภาค อาเซียน ให้มีมาตรฐานสูงขึ้น
เสริมสร้างทักษะด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินผ่านการฝึกปฏิบัติจริง
แพทย์จาก สปป. ลาว ได้เข้าร่วมเรียนรู้และฝึกปฏิบัติใน ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์รับส่งต่อผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินระดับตติยภูมิที่สำคัญของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ โดยมีกิจกรรมหลัก ได้แก่
- การดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินในภาวะวิกฤติ – ฝึกประเมินและรักษาผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินตามแนวทางสากล
- เทคนิคกู้ชีพและการใช้เครื่องมือแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน – ฝึกใช้เครื่องช่วยหายใจ, อัลตราซาวด์ และเครื่องกระตุ้นหัวใจ
- การทำงานร่วมกับทีมสหวิชาชีพ – เรียนรู้การดูแลผู้ป่วยร่วมกับแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน, พยาบาล และเจ้าหน้าที่กู้ชีพ
- ฝึกอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินระดับนานาชาติ – แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และแนวทางการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉิน
ขยายเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้านการแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน ไทย-ลาว
การศึกษาดูงานครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยเสริมสร้างทักษะเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินแก่แพทย์จาก สปป. ลาว แต่ยังเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการพัฒนา เครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ฉุกเฉินระหว่างไทยและลาว โดยมีแนวทางขยายความร่วมมือในอนาคต เช่น
- การพัฒนาโปรแกรมอบรมร่วมกันระหว่างคณะแพทยศาสตร์ของทั้งสองประเทศ
- การแลกเปลี่ยนแพทย์และบุคลากรทางการแพทย์เพื่อเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์
- การร่วมมือด้านงานวิจัยทางการแพทย์ฉุกเฉินในระดับอาเซียน

Dr. Theenaphark Phanthavong กล่าวถึงประสบการณ์ในครั้งนี้ว่า “ผมรู้สึกเป็นเกียรติที่ได้เข้าร่วมโครงการศึกษาดูงานด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินที่โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ การเรียนรู้แนวทางปฏิบัติที่เป็นมาตรฐานระดับสากล และการทำงานร่วมกับทีมแพทย์ไทย จะช่วยพัฒนาทักษะของผมและนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการดูแลผู้ป่วยใน สปป. ลาว ได้อย่างแน่นอน”
ก้าวสู่อนาคตของเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินในอาเซียน
การแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉินครั้งนี้ เป็นอีกหนึ่งความสำเร็จของ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. ในการเป็น ศูนย์กลางทางการแพทย์ของภูมิภาค โดยหวังว่าความร่วมมือครั้งนี้จะช่วยยกระดับมาตรฐานการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินและสร้างเครือข่ายทางการแพทย์ที่เข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต
