Japanese and Lao Delegates Explore MDKKU’s Innovative Lawa Model

 

On Monday, 27 January 2025, a distinguished delegation from Japan and Laos visited Khon Kaen Province to study the innovative “Lawa Model”, a community-driven approach to combating liver fluke infection and associated cancer. The delegation included representatives from Shinshu University, Nagano College of Nursing, the National University of Laos, and Champasak Province’s education and health sectors.

 

 

The delegation was led by prominent figures such as Associate Professor Sachi Tomokawa from Shinshu University, Associate Professor Takeshi Akiyama from Nagano College of Nursing, and Dr. Kongsy Chounlamany, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education, National University of Laos. They were joined by provincial and district health and education officials from Champasak Province.

 

 

 

Morning Highlights

The visit began with a briefing at the Khon Kaen Primary Education Service Area Office 2 in Ban Phai District, followed by an in-depth session at Lawa Village’s Health Promoting Hospital (HPH). The hospital director warmly welcomed the delegates before Professor Banchob Sripa presented an overview of liver fluke-related health issues and the pioneering “Lawa Model”. This model integrates disease prevention, health education, animal reservoir and environmental management to tackle liver fluke infections, a significant public health concern in the region.

 

 

At Lawa School, the group observed the “Liver Fluke–Free School” program, an educational initiative aimed at fostering health awareness among young students.

 

Immersive Afternoon Experience

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Lawa Lake to experience the practical applications of the Lawa Model. Activities included a live demonstration by village health volunteers on integrated liver fluke control efforts and a showcase of rural northeastern lifestyles.

 

 

Highlights of the visit included:

  • Traditional Fish Catching Demonstration: Local fishermen displayed their fishing techniques.

Cooking Demonstration: Delegates learned how to prepare the popular yet high-risk local dish “Koi Pla”, emphasizing safe cooking practices to prevent liver fluke infection.

  • Animal Reservoir Management: Associate Professor Sirikachorn Tangkawattana from Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine explained measures to manage animal hosts in the transmission cycle of liver flukes.
  • Environmental Modifications: The group explored sustainable approaches to modifying the local environment to minimize disease risks.

 

A Model for Global Collaboration

The visit underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in addressing public health challenges. Delegates praised the holistic nature of the Lawa Model, which integrates health promotion, education, and environmental sustainability. The insights gained are expected to inspire similar initiatives in Laos and beyond, fostering greater regional cooperation in public health innovation.

 

 

คณะผู้แทนจากญี่ปุ่นและลาวศึกษานวัตกรรม “Lawa Model” สู้โรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 27 มกราคม 2568 คณะผู้แทนจากญี่ปุ่นและลาวได้เดินทางเยือนจังหวัดขอนแก่น เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบนวัตกรรม “Lawa Model” ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางที่ขับเคลื่อนโดยชุมชนในการต่อสู้กับโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ คณะผู้แทนประกอบด้วย Associate Professor Sachi Tomokawa จาก Shinshu University Associate Professor Takeshi Akiyama จาก Nagano College of Nursing และ Dr. Kongsy Chounlamany รักษาการคณบดี คณะศึกษาศาสตร์ของ National University of Laos พร้อมทั้งผู้บริหารองค์กรด้านสาธารณสุขและการศึกษา แขวงจำปาสัก สปป. ลาว

 

กิจกรรมสำคัญในช่วงเช้า

เริ่มต้นที่ สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาขอนแก่น เขต 2 อำเภอบ้านไผ่ ก่อนเดินทางไปยัง โรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลบ้านละว้า (รพ.สต.บ้านละว้า) ตำบลเมืองเพีย อำเภอบ้านไผ่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น เพื่อรับฟังการบรรยายเชิงลึก โดยได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจากผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลฯ จากนั้น ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. บรรจบ ศรีภา ได้นำเสนอภาพรวมของปัญหาสุขภาพที่เกิดจาก โรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ และแนวทางการรับมือผ่าน “Lawa Model” ซึ่งเป็นต้นแบบในการป้องกันโรค การศึกษา และการจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาดังกล่าวอย่างเป็นระบบและยั่งยืน เนื่องจากโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับยังคงเป็นปัญหาสุขภาพที่สำคัญในพื้นที่

ที่โรงเรียนบ้านละว้า คณะผู้แทนได้เยี่ยมชมโครงการ “โรงเรียนปลอดพยาธิใบไม้ตับ” ซึ่งเป็นโครงการส่งเสริมสุขภาพเพื่อสร้างความตระหนักด้านสุขภาพให้กับนักเรียน

 

ประสบการณ์ที่น่าประทับใจในช่วงบ่าย

ในช่วงบ่าย คณะผู้แทนได้เยี่ยมชมแก่งละว้าเพื่อศึกษาการประยุกต์ใช้ Lawa Model  โดยกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ในช่วงบ่ายประกอบด้วยการสาธิตการควบคุมโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับเชิงบูรณาการโดยอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) และการนำเสนอชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนในพื้นที่ชุมชนภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ

 

การเยี่ยมชมจุดสำคัญ ประกอบด้วย

การสาธิตการจับปลาตามวิธีดั้งเดิม: ชาวประมงในท้องถิ่นได้แสดงเทคนิคการจับปลาในแก่งละว้า

การสาธิตการปรุงอาหาร: คณะผู้แทนได้เรียนรู้วิธีการเตรียมอาหารท้องถิ่น “ก้อยปลา” โดยเน้นให้เห็นถึงวิธีการปรุงอาหารให้ปลอดภัยจากโรคพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

การจัดการแหล่งสัตว์ระบาด: รองศาสตราจารย์สิริขจร ตังควัฒนา จากคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้อธิบายแนวทางการจัดการสัตว์เป็นพาหะของพยาธิใบไม้ตับ

การปรับปรุงสิ่งแวดล้อม: คณะผู้แทนได้สำรวจแนวทางการปรับเปลี่ยนสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืนเพื่อลดความเสี่ยงจากโรค

 

โมเดลที่ส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระดับโลก

การเยี่ยมชมครั้งนี้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของความร่วมมือข้ามพรมแดนในการแก้ไขปัญหาด้านสุขภาพในระดับสากล คณะผู้แทนต่างชื่นชมลักษณะการบูรณาการของ Lawa Model ซึ่งผสมผสานการส่งเสริมสุขภาพ การศึกษา และความยั่งยืนด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม การมาเยือนในครั้งนี้คาดว่าจะช่วยในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาค รวมไปถึงการสร้างแรงบันดาลใจในการพัฒนาโครงการด้านนวัตกรรมทางสุขภาพในประเทศลาวและประเทศอื่น ๆ ทั่วโลก

 

Khon Kaen and Vientiane Discuss Cooperation to Strengthen Medical, Educational, and Sustainable Development Capabilities

 

On January 24, 2025, at the Udon Tantisunthorn Conference Room, College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University, a warm welcome ceremony was held for H.E. Mr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, the Governor of Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR, and his delegation during their official visit to Khon Kaen Province. The ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Thuss Sanguansak, Associate Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, who also extended a warm welcome to the delegation.

 

 

This visit marked another important step under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Khon Kaen Province and Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR. Khon Kaen University plays a pivotal role in advancing cooperation in medicine and public health. The Faculty of Medicine has been working closely with health agencies in Laos to enhance healthcare capabilities in border areas and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and medical personnel.

 

 

In addition, the delegation discussed cooperation on various fronts, including education enhancement, agriculture and the environment, economic development and investment, smart city development, and local public administration. This cooperation not only strengthens the relationship between Khon Kaen and Vientiane but also creates opportunities for sustainable development, ultimately improving the quality of life for people in the region and enhancing the strength of the ASEAN community in the future.

ขอนแก่น-เวียงจันทน์ เจรจาความร่วมมือเสริมศักยภาพด้านการแพทย์ การศึกษา และการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน
เมื่อวันที่ 24 มกราคม 2568  ณ ห้องประชุมอุดร ตันติสุนทร วิทยาลัยการปกครองท้องถิ่น มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้จัดพิธีต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นแก่ท่านอาดสะพังทอง สีพันดอน เจ้าครองนครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว พร้อมคณะ ในโอกาสเดินทางเยือนจังหวัดขอนแก่นอย่างเป็นทางการ โดยมีรองศาสตราจารย์นายแพทย์ธรรศ สงวนศักดิ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์และสื่อสารองค์กร คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ร่วมให้การต้อนรับ

การเยือนครั้งนี้ถือเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญภายใต้บันทึกความร่วมมือ (MOU) ระหว่างจังหวัดขอนแก่นและนครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ สปป.ลาว ซึ่งมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นมีบทบาทสำคัญในการผลักดันความร่วมมือด้านการแพทย์และสาธารณสุข โดยคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ทำงานร่วมกับหน่วยงานด้านสาธารณสุขใน สปป.ลาว อย่างใกล้ชิดเพื่อพัฒนาศักยภาพการดูแลสุขภาพประชาชนในพื้นที่ชายแดน รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และบุคลากรด้านการแพทย์

นอกจากนี้ คณะผู้เยือนยังได้หารือแนวทางความร่วมมือในหลากหลายมิติ อาทิ การยกระดับการศึกษา การเกษตรและสิ่งแวดล้อม การพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและการลงทุน การพัฒนาเมืองอัจฉริยะ และการบริหารกิจการสาธารณะของท้องถิ่น ความร่วมมือนี้ไม่เพียงช่วยส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างขอนแก่นและนครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ แต่ยังสร้างโอกาสในการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในภูมิภาคและเสริมสร้างความแข็งแกร่งให้กับประชาคมอาเซียนในอนาคต

孔敬与万象讨论加强医疗、教育和可持续发展领域的合作

2025年01月24日，位于孔敬大学地方行政学院的乌东坦提松会议室举行了热烈的欢迎仪式，欢迎老挝首都万象市市长阿萨潘西潘通阁下及其代表团正式访问孔敬省。孔敬大学医学院国际事务与企业沟通副院长塔拉特桑万萨克副教授参加并表示热烈欢迎。

此次访问标志着在孔敬省与老挝万象市之间的合作备忘录（MOU）框架下迈出了重要的一步。孔敬大学在推动医疗和公共卫生合作方面发挥着重要作用，医学院与老挝的公共卫生部门紧密合作，共同提升边境地区人民的健康护理能力，并促进医疗知识与人员的交流。

此外，代表团还讨论了多个合作领域，包括教育提升、农业与环境、经济发展与投资、智慧城市建设以及地方公共管理。这一合作不仅促进了孔敬与万象之间的良好关系，还创造了可持续发展的机会，最终改善地区人民的生活质量，并增强未来东盟共同体的力量。

Medical Students from Nagoya City University Engage in Clinical Exchange at MDKKU

 

On January 20, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) warmly welcomed seven fifth-year medical students from Nagoya City University, Japan, as part of a clinical exchange program. The program, focusing on the Department of Orthopedics, runs from January 21 to 30, 2025. The participating students are:

  3. Miss Natsumi Fukushima
  4. Mr. Taishi Masutani
  5. Mr. Takehiro Ando
  6. Mr. Takayuki Matsui

On their first day, the students participated in an orientation session organized by the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Medicine. The session included:

  • An introduction to Khon Kaen University and its Faculty of Medicine
  • A campus tour to visit key landmarks
  • A hands-on experience with the university’s public transit system, KKU Smart Transit (KST)
  • Basic Thai language lessons to facilitate daily communication

 

This exchange program aims to provide Japanese medical students with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in orthopedics while fostering cultural understanding and strengthening the academic ties between Thailand and Japan. The program also serves as a platform to promote academic collaboration and joint medical research beneficial to both countries.

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University hopes that this exchange program will serve as a vital foundation for expanding educational partnerships and fostering knowledge exchange in medicine, benefiting students, faculty, and medical professionals in both Thailand and Japan.

เมื่อวันที่ 20 มกราคม 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ให้การต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 5 จำนวน 7 คน จาก Nagoya City University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ในโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนเพื่อเรียนรู้ประสบการณ์ทางคลินิก ณ สาขาวิชาออร์โธปิดิกส์ ระหว่างวันที่ 21-30 มกราคม 2568 นักศึกษาที่เข้าร่วมโครงการประกอบไปด้วย

Medical Students from Nagoya City University Complete the Elective Exchange Program

 

The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, is pleased to welcome medical students from Nagoya City University, Japan, under the Elective Exchange Program, which is being held over a two-week period from January 7 to 16, 2025. The program aims to promote the exchange of academic knowledge and medical experiences, while fostering mutual understanding of cultural differences between the two countries.

The medical students participating in the program include:

  2. Mr. Keigo Tsunekawa
  3. Mr. Kenta Sato
  4. Mr. Ryoto Tsutsumi
  5. Mr. Yasuhiro Kato

 

 

 

Throughout the program, the students participated in various medical activities, including observing surgeries to acquire surgical techniques, studying patients in the clinic to refine diagnostic skills, exchanging perspectives on patient management with faculty and medical staff, and engaging in simulation exercises to enhance their clinical competence and confidence in the field of orthopedics at the Faculty of Medicine.

In addition, the students had the opportunity to experience Thai culture through various activities, such as visiting significant landmarks at Khon Kaen University, touring key locations in Khon Kaen province, and participating in recreational activities that fostered positive relationships between Thai and Japanese students.

This Elective Exchange Program not only provided an opportunity for the students to develop their professional skills but also played a key role in strengthening the relationship between the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and Nagoya City University. It marks an important step in promoting sustainable international cooperation in the field of medicine.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้ต้อนรับนักศึกษาแพทย์จาก Nagoya City University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ในโครงการ Elective Exchange Program ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเป็นระยะเวลา 2 สัปดาห์
ตั้งแต่วันที่ 7 – 16 มกราคม 2568 โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ทางวิชาการและประสบการณ์ทางด้านการแพทย์ พร้อมทั้งสร้างความเข้าใจอันดีในด้านวัฒนธรรมระหว่างสองประเทศ

孔敬大学医学院欢迎来自日本名古屋市立大学的医学生参加为期两周的选修交流项目（Elective Exchange Program）。本项目于2025年1月7日至16日举办，旨在促进学术知识与医学经验的交流，同时增进两国之间的文化理解与友好关系。

Khon Kaen University Hosts International Delegates, Strengthening Regional Medical Collaboration

 

Khon Kaen, Thailand – On January 15, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU) played host to a distinguished delegation from the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), South Korea. This landmark visit signifies a pivotal step in advancing healthcare collaboration and education across Southeast Asia.

 

 

The delegation, led by Dr. Somchay Latsavong, Vice President of UHS, included esteemed experts such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alongkone Phengsavanh, Dr. Sourideth Sengchanh, Dr. Somchit Vorachit, and Prof. Hyun Bae Yoon, alongside Miss Ines Yejin Song from SNUH. The group was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and senior university executives.

 

 

KKU is currently hosting an intensive training program for ten specialized medical professionals from Laos, covering a range of advanced disciplines:

During the visit, discussions centered on expanding future partnerships, including student and medical staff exchanges, specialized training, and collaborative research. These initiatives aim to foster knowledge sharing and elevate healthcare standards across ASEAN.

ขอนแก่น – วันที่ 15 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2568 – คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) ได้ให้การต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนระดับนานาชาติจากมหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว (UHS-Laos) และโรงพยาบาลมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งชาติโซล (Seoul National University Hospital) ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ ในโอกาสสำคัญที่สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นร่วมกันในการยกระดับมาตรฐานการแพทย์และการดูแลสุขภาพในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้

โครงการอบรมดังกล่าวมีเป้าหมายเพื่อพัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน และสร้างความพร้อมสำหรับการเปิดตัวโรงพยาบาลมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งแรกใน สปป.ลาว ซึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนงบประมาณจากกองทุนความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาทางเศรษฐกิจ (EDCF) ของเกาหลีใต้ โดยโรงพยาบาลแห่งนี้จะตั้งอยู่ในมหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ ณ เมืองไชยเชษฐา นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ และจะเป็นศูนย์กลางด้านการแพทย์ที่ทันสมัยสำหรับภูมิภาค

Khon Kaen University Welcomes Heidelberg University Delegation: Advancing Global Medical Collaboration

 

The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH), Heidelberg University, Germany, led by Dr. Kate Bärnighausen, alongside a team of distinguished experts:

on January 9, 2024. This visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening collaborative efforts to develop medical innovations and address global health challenges.

 

A Partnership Driving Global Innovation

This collaboration stems from a relationship initiated in November 2024, when Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, and Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, visited Heidelberg University. The visit aimed to discuss and develop partnerships in impactful medical research and innovation on an international scale.

During that meeting, the foundations were laid for global research projects such as PANDA (Preventing Pandemic Risk by Improving Pandemic Literacy), focusing on enhancing pandemic preparedness through improving knowledge about pandemic risks among frontline communities in Southeast Asia. The project emphasizes studying the systematic interactions between human behavior, animals, and the environment that may lead to zoonotic disease transmission. The PANDA project incorporates a multidisciplinary approach, including in-depth interviews, community mapping, and risk assessment tools. The study is conducted in northern Thai-Lao border communities and funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, Germany.

 

 

Strengthening Ties Through Collaborative Dialogue

The delegation’s visit to Khon Kaen University included a warm reception by Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, who emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Our partnership will not only create positive health impacts but also elevate our research and innovations to the forefront of global medical advancements.”

สาขาวิชาศัลยศาสตร์  ต้อนรับ Miss Momoka Yoshino นักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 5 จาก School Of Medicine, Gifu University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น และ Miss Felicia Averine นักศึกษาแพทย์ชั้นปีที่ 4 จาก Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada ประเทศอินโดนิเซีย  รวมระยะเวลาแลกเปลี่ยน 4 สัปดาห์ ระหว่างวันที่ 7 มกราคม 2568 ถึง วันที่ 30 มกราคม 2568

โครงการ Elective Exchange Program ถือเป็นโอกาสสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพผ่านการเรียนรู้ร่วมกันระหว่างนักศึกษาและบุคลากร ทั้งด้านวิชาการและวัฒนธรรม คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นเชื่อมั่นว่าโครงการนี้จะเป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีคุณค่า และช่วยสานต่อความร่วมมืออันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างสถาบันในอนาคต

孔敬大学医学院非常高兴地接待来自国际的医科生，参加从2025年1月7日至1月30日举行的选修交流项目，旨在促进知识、学术技能和文化经验的交流。

医学院骨科部门欢迎来自日本名古屋市大学的5名五年级医科生：Mr.Daina Saito、Mr.Keigo Tsunekawa、Mr.Kenta Sato、Mr.Ryoto Tsutsumi、Mr.Yasuhiro Kato。他们将于2025年1月7日至1月16日参与为期两周的交流项目。

此外，外科部门还接待了来自日本岐阜大学医学院的五年级医科生吉Miss.Momoka Yoshino和来自印尼加贾马达护理大学的四年级医科生Miss.Felicia Averine。她们将参加从2025 年1月7日至1月30日为期四周的交流项目。

选修交流项目是一个重要的机会，通过促进学术和文化领域的协作学习，提高师生双方的能力。孔敬大学坚信这一项目将提供宝贵的经验，并加强全球各学术机构之间未来的合作关系。

Lao Doctors Showcase Expertise in Advanced Medical Exchange at Thailand’s Khon Kaen University

 

Lao doctors and medical technicians have taken the stage at Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Medicine to present their achievements following months of intensive clinical training and study. The event, designed to foster international collaboration and knowledge sharing, highlighted the transformative potential of cross-border medical exchange programs in Southeast Asia.

Representing the University of Health Sciences in Laos, these medical professionals shared their learnings from hands-on experience in specialized fields, sparking conversations on innovations and future collaborations between the two nations.

 

 

Emergency Medicine: Life-Saving Skills in Critical Situations

Dr. Ms. Nanthida Lithideth and Dr. Ms. Soulinthone Phimmasone, third-year residents in emergency medicine, detailed their four-week training program at Khon Kaen University’s Emergency Medicine Department. Their presentation explored advanced protocols for managing critical patients, shedding light on state-of-the-art approaches in emergency care.

Pathology: Decoding Genetics for Precision Medicine

Dr. Thatsavanh Keovongsong, a specialist in chromosome diagnostics, showcased his six-month journey in the Department of Pathology. His work focused on genetic analysis and its applications in disease diagnosis, demonstrating how advanced technologies can transform patient outcomes.

Immunology: Strengthening Diagnostic Capabilities

Mr. Airr Yeuanmany, a medical laboratory technician specializing in immunology, presented his contributions to clinical diagnostics during a six-month stint at Srinagarind Hospital’s Laboratory Medicine unit. His insights into immunological testing underscored the critical role of laboratory precision in modern healthcare.

The event wasn’t merely a platform for presentations; it became a powerful narrative of collaboration, with each participant representing a bridge between the healthcare systems of Laos and Thailand.

Khon Kaen University, a recognized leader in regional medical education, sees this initiative as a step toward building a more interconnected healthcare community. The exchange has inspired discussions on expanding future programs to include more diverse specialties and larger participant cohorts.

As one of the Lao participants aptly stated, “This experience has not only deepened our knowledge but also strengthened the bonds between our countries. Together, we can elevate the standard of care across the region.”

แพทย์ลาวโชว์ผลงานเด่น ศึกษาดูงานด้านการแพทย์ขั้นสูง ณ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ม.ขอนแก่น

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เปิดเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และนำเสนอผลงานของแพทย์ประจำบ้านและนักเทคนิคการแพทย์จากประเทศลาว ที่เข้าร่วมโครงการฝึกปฏิบัติงานด้านคลินิกและศึกษาดูงานในสาขาวิชาการแพทย์ที่สำคัญ โดยกิจกรรมนี้จัดขึ้นเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้และความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ในระดับภูมิภาค

ในงานนี้ ผู้เข้าร่วมจากคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ สปป.ลาว ได้แสดงความรู้และประสบการณ์ที่ได้รับจากการฝึกปฏิบัติงานในระยะเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ถึง 6 เดือนในสาขาต่าง ๆ ซึ่งประกอบด้วย:

  1. เวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน:

Thai and South Korean Universities Join Forces to Revolutionize Radiologic Technology with AI

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand, is set to break new ground in radiologic technology through an innovative collaboration with Dongseo University, South Korea. Under the visionary “Artificial Intelligence in Digital Radiology” program, this groundbreaking partnership will unfold from December 23 to 27, 2024, as part of the Global Experiential Learning Site (GELS) initiative.

A Partnership Aimed at Global Advancement

Led by Professor Yongsu Yoon, Ph.D., Head of Radiologic Science at Dongseo University, this collaboration brings together an esteemed delegation of academics and students at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Their mission? To exchange expertise and explore cutting-edge research and education opportunities with KKU’s faculty and students, particularly in radiologic technology.

This alliance marks a pivotal step in integrating AI-driven innovations into medical imaging to reduce diagnostic errors, enhance treatment precision, and streamline healthcare services.

Transformative Activities and Knowledge Exchange

The program’s highlights include:

  • Lectures on Digital Image Processing with AI, introducing faculty and students to advanced medical imaging techniques.
  • Hands-on AI Programming and Modeling Workshops, empowering participants to build and apply AI tools in radiologic practices.
  • Site visits to KKU’s Diagnostic Radiology, Radiotherapy, and Nuclear Medicine units, fostering deeper research collaborations and curriculum development.

On December 24, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, KKU, will officially welcome the Dongseo delegation. This partnership builds on an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KKU and the College of Bio-health Convergence at Dongseo University. Together, they aim to advance education and research in biomedical sciences and radiologic technology, pushing the boundaries of innovation on a global scale.

泰国孔敬大学医学院（KKU）与韩国东硕大学（Dongseo University）携手合作，开创放射技术领域的新篇章。此次合作以**“人工智能在数字放射学中的应用”为主题，是全球体验式学习基地（GELS）计划的重要组成部分，将于2024年12月23日至27日**在孔敬大学展开。

开拓全球放射学新领域

在东硕大学放射科学系主任黄承修教授（Ph.D.）的带领下，此次合作汇聚了本科生、硕士生和博士生代表，与孔敬大学的教职工和学生开展深入交流，共同探索放射科学领域的前沿研究和教学实践。
这次合作标志着人工智能技术与医学成像深度融合的重要一步，不仅能够减少诊断错误，还将提高治疗精准性，大幅优化医疗服务流程。

คณะแพทย์ มข. จับมือมหาวิทยาลัยเกาหลี ดัน AI พลิกโฉมรังสีวิทยาสู่ระดับโลก

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (มข.) เตรียมสร้างปรากฏการณ์ใหม่ในวงการรังสีวิทยาด้วยการจับมือกับมหาวิทยาลัย Dongseo ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ ในโครงการความร่วมมือสุดล้ำ “ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ในรังสีวิทยาดิจิทัล” ภายใต้โครงการ Global Experiential Learning Site (GELS) ที่จะจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 23-27 ธันวาคม 2567 นี้

โครงการดังกล่าวมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษาและการวิจัย นำโดย Professor Yongsu Yoon, Ph.D. หัวหน้าสาขาวิชารังสีวิทยา พร้อมคณะผู้แทนจากมหาวิทยาลัย Dongseo ที่รวมทั้งคณาจารย์และนักศึกษาในหลากหลายระดับ ตั้งแต่ปริญญาเอก ปริญญาโท และปริญญาตรี เพื่อร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และประสบการณ์กับคณาจารย์และนักศึกษาของ มข.

กิจกรรมสำคัญในโครงการ

ภายในกิจกรรมจะมีการบรรยายและการฝึกปฏิบัติในหัวข้อที่ทันสมัย อาทิ “การประมวลผลภาพดิจิทัลด้วย AI” และ “การเขียนโปรแกรมและการสร้างแบบจำลอง AI” โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะด้านเทคโนโลยีล้ำสมัยให้กับนักศึกษาและบุคลากรไทย นอกจากนี้ คณะเยือนจะได้เข้าศึกษาดูงานในหน่วยงานสำคัญ เช่น รังสีวินิจฉัย การบำบัดด้วยรังสี และเวชศาสตร์นิวเคลียร์

วันที่ 24 ธันวาคม 2567 รศ.นพ.ภัทรพงษ์ มกรเวส คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. จะให้การต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนจาก Dongseo University ซึ่งนำโดย Professor Yongsu Yoon, Ph.D. รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์จาก College of Bio-health Convergence พร้อมด้วยคณาจารย์และนักศึกษา

ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้เป็นการสานต่อ MOU ระหว่าง คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มข. และ College of Bio-health Convergence ของ Dongseo University เพื่อยกระดับการศึกษาและวิจัยในด้านเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพและวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ พร้อมปูทางสู่การสร้างนวัตกรรมที่จะเปลี่ยนโฉมวงการรังสีเทคนิคในระดับโลก
