On April 11, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, held the “Muan Suen Songkran 2025” celebration under the theme: “Songkran in Medicine – Preserving Thai Traditions, United in Energy and Environmental Conservation.” The event was organized to celebrate the Songkran Festival and to promote Thai culture among faculty members, staff, and students.
A total of 11 exchange students from four partner universities abroad took part in the festivities, including: Wakayama Medical University (Japan), Fujita Health University School of Medicine (Japan), The University of Adelaide (Australia), and Imperial College London (United Kingdom).
The exchange students had the opportunity to join the Buddha image procession, perform the traditional water-pouring ceremony, receive New Year’s blessings, watch the Miss Songkran beauty pageant, and take part in traditional Thai games and activities. The event was filled with smiles, joy, and friendship.
This meaningful experience allowed the exchange students to gain a deeper understanding of Thai culture through hands-on participation, while also fostering a sense of connection with the Faculty of Medicine community.
The blend of Thai culture and international elements made this year’s Songkran celebration particularly special and memorable.

นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนร่วมสืบสานวัฒนธรรมไทยในกิจกรรม ‘ม่วนซื่นสงกรานต์ 2568′ ณ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น
เมื่อวันที่ 11 เมษายน 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้จัดกิจกรรม “ม่วนซื่นสงกรานต์ 2568” ภายใต้แนวคิด “แพทยศาสตร์สงกรานต์ สืบสานประเพณีไทย ร่วมใจอนุรักษ์พลังงานและสิ่งแวดล้อม” เพื่อร่วมเฉลิมฉลองเทศกาลสงกรานต์ พร้อมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมไทยให้แก่บุคลากรและนักศึกษา
ภายในงานมีนักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนจำนวน 11 คนจากจาก 4 มหาวิทยาลัยในต่างประเทศเข้าร่วมกิจกรรม ได้แก่ Wakayama Medical University ประเทศญี่ปุ่น Fujita Health University School of Medicine ประเทศญี่ปุ่น The University of Adelaide ประเทศออสเตรเลีย และ Imperial College London สหราชอาณาจักร
นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนได้มีโอกาสร่วมขบวนแห่พระพุทธรูป สรงน้ำพระ รับพรปีใหม่ ชมการประกวดเทพีสงกรานต์ และร่วมกิจกรรมพื้นบ้านต่าง ๆ ท่ามกลางบรรยากาศที่อบอวลไปด้วยรอยยิ้มและมิตรภาพ
กิจกรรมนี้นับเป็นประสบการณ์ครั้งสำคัญที่เปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนได้เรียนรู้และเข้าใจวัฒนธรรมไทยอย่างลึกซึ้ง ผ่านการมีส่วนร่วมจริง พร้อมทั้งสร้างความผูกพันกับชุมชนคณะแพทยศาสตร์
การผสมผสานระหว่างวัฒนธรรมไทยและความเป็นสากล ทำให้งานสงกรานต์ในปีนี้พิเศษและมีความหมายมากยิ่งขึ้น

交换生参加了在孔敬大学医学院举办的“2025欢乐宋干节”活动，传承泰国文化。
2025年4月11日，孔敬大学医学院举办了 “2025欢乐宋干节” 活动，主题为“医学宋干节——传承泰国传统，共同保护能源与环境”。此次活动旨在庆祝泰国宋干节，并向教职员工与学生弘扬和推广泰国文化。
在活动中，共有来自4所外国大学的11名交换生参加了活动，分别来自日本和歌山县立医科大学（Wakayama Medical University）、藤田医科大学（Fujita Health University School of Medicine）、澳大利亚阿德莱德大学（The University of Adelaide）与英国帝国理工学院（Imperial College London) 。
交换生有机会参与了佛像游行、给佛像洒水、接受新年祝福、观看宋干节女神选美大赛，并参加了各种传统活动。在充满微笑和友谊的氛围中，大家共同度过了这段时光。
此次活动是一次重要的经历，为交换生提供了一个深入了解泰国文化的机会，通过亲身参与，建立了与医学院社区的深厚联系。
泰国文化与国际文化的融合，使得今年的宋干节更加特别和有意义。

On April 8, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University organized a welcome event for exchange students from three countries: Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom. These students have come to further their studies and engage in knowledge exchange at the Faculty of Medicine from April 9th to May 8th. The reception of exchange students this time is a valuable opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and academic exchange between countries. The International Relations Office of the Faculty of Medicine organized an orientation session to provide the exchange students with important information about Khon Kaen University, as well as to prepare them for their life as exchange students in Thailand.
In the morning, an orientation session was held, which included an introduction to important locations both inside and outside of Khon Kaen University, as well as basic Thai language lessons to help students communicate more easily in daily life. In the afternoon, the exchange students participated in a campus tour of Khon Kaen University using the KKU Smart Transit service. They were also introduced to various important locations to ensure they had comprehensive information.
This exchange program not only promotes the exchange of academic knowledge in the field of medicine from various countries but also helps foster understanding of diverse cultures.
The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, aims to ensure that each exchange program enhances the knowledge and potential of the institution through the exchange of new information and development, ultimately benefiting the field of medicine to its fullest.

Sixteen Japanese medical and radiological technology students from four of Japan’s leading medical universities have embarked on an intensive four-week Clinical Elective Program at Khon Kaen University (KKU), offering them a rare and profound window into the world of tropical medicine and Thailand’s public healthcare system.
The program, held from 3–28 March 2025 at KKU’s Faculty of Medicine, welcomed students from Aichi Medical University, Fujita Health University, Wakayama Medical University, and Gifu University. It offered a hands-on learning experience across a broad range of disciplines — from general surgery, pediatric surgery, family medicine, and community medicine to emergency medicine, rehabilitation, and radiological techniques.
Through daily clinical rotations at Srinagarind Hospital and outreach in surrounding communities, the visiting students observed surgeries, joined ward rounds, assisted in outpatient clinics, and participated in home visits, gaining insight into Thailand’s tiered public health infrastructure — from primary to tertiary care.
But the program wasn’t only about clinical training. Culture took center stage as well — in between scalpels and stethoscopes, the students folded delicate flowers from pandan leaves alongside their Thai peers, learning the symbolism of fragrance and mindfulness in Thai tradition. In return, they shared the Japanese art of origami, crafting intricate paper shapes that filled the room with laughter and admiration.
These quiet moments of cultural exchange brought warmth and perspective to a rigorous academic journey.
The elective reflects Thailand’s growing role as a regional hub for global medical exchange and its commitment to academic diplomacy. For the Japanese students, many of whom will return to high-tech medical institutions in their homeland, the experience has offered a unique perspective on resourceful, community-driven healthcare models.
As the final week approaches, friendships have flourished, futures have been reshaped, and the seeds of long-term collaboration between Thailand and Japan have been sown.

ได้เรียนรู้และฝึกฝนทักษะในสาขาต่าง ๆ อาทิ ศัลยกรรมทั่วไป กุมารศัลยศาสตร์ เวชศาสตร์ครอบครัว เวชศาสตร์ชุมชน เวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน เวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟู และรังสีเทคนิค
นักศึกษาญี่ปุ่นได้ลงพื้นที่ฝึกเวชปฏิบัติทั้งในโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์และชุมชนโดยรอบ จังหวัดขอนแก่น สังเกตการณ์การผ่าตัด ออกตรวจผู้ป่วยนอกและใน ร่วมกิจกรรม home visit และศึกษาระบบสาธารณสุขของไทยตั้งแต่ระดับปฐมภูมิ จนถึงตติยภูมิ เรียกได้ว่าเป็นประสบการณ์ที่เข้มข้นและครอบคลุม
แต่ไม่เพียงแค่ “ศาสตร์” ที่ได้เรียนรู้ “ศิลป์” แห่งวัฒนธรรมก็ได้ถ่ายทอดกันอย่างอบอุ่นหัวใจ
กิจกรรมแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระหว่างนักศึกษาไทยและญี่ปุ่น ได้แก่ การพับดอกไม้จากใบเตย – หอมกรุ่นด้วยกลิ่นไทย สื่อถึงความใส่ใจและความประณีตในแบบไทย ๆ ขณะเดียวกัน นักศึกษาแดนอาทิตย์อุทัยก็นำศิลปะ โอริกามิ พับกระดาษญี่ปุ่นมาแบ่งปันกันในบรรยากาศสดใสและเป็นกันเอง
มิตรภาพใหม่งอกงามขึ้นกลางบรรยากาศวิชาการเข้มข้น พร้อมเมล็ดพันธุ์แห่งความร่วมมือทางการแพทย์ระหว่างไทย–ญี่ปุ่นที่งอกเงยและพร้อมจะเติบโตต่อไปในอนาคต

On March 27, 2025, at the Nong Waeng Meeting Room, 6th Floor, we hosted a delegation from Taipei Medical University (TMU) – Shuang Ho Hospital (SHH) to explore potential academic and medical collaborations.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Assoc. Prof. Warachaya Phanphruk, followed by remarks from Dr. Howard Lee. The highlight of the event was the exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reinforcing the commitment to academic and medical cooperation between the two institutions.
Key discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration, including a feasibility study on joint academic and medical initiatives. Additionally, two presentations were delivered:

ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้เป็นก้าวสำคัญในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติด้านการศึกษาและการวิจัยทางการแพทย์ ซึ่งจะช่วยเสริมสร้างการพัฒนานวัตกรรมทางการแพทย์ในอนาคต โดยการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และประสบการณ์ระหว่างนักศึกษาและบุคลากรทางการแพทย์จากทั้งสองสถาบัน จะเปิดโอกาสให้เกิดการพัฒนาแนวทางการรักษาที่ทันสมัยและการใช้เทคโนโลยีทางการแพทย์ที่มีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น
The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MDKKU) had the distinct honor of welcoming Prof. Beth Coyle from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, from March 19 to 21, 2025. As a globally renowned authority in tumor microenvironment-powered cellular immunotherapy, Prof. Coyle’s visit represented a seminal milestone in international academic collaboration, reinforcing MDKKU’s steadfast commitment to advancing oncological research and fostering enduring partnerships with preeminent institutions worldwide.
Advancing Collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University
On March 19, MDKKU hosted a distinguished academic seminar, formally inaugurated by the President of Khon Kaen University, Associate Professor Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul. In his opening address, he underscored the pivotal role of international collaboration in pioneering cutting-edge cancer treatments. Professor Coyle delivered an enthralling keynote lecture on modeling the tumor microenvironment in brain tumors, offering groundbreaking perspectives on future therapeutic paradigms.

คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ให้การต้อนรับ ศ. เบธ คอยล์ จากมหาวิทยาลัยนอตติงแฮม สหราชอาณาจักร ระหว่างวันที่ 19-21 มีนาคม 2568 เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านวิชาการและวิจัยทางการแพทย์ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในด้านมะเร็ง การมาเยือนครั้งนี้เป็นก้าวสำคัญในการยกระดับความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ ตอกย้ำศักยภาพของ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ในฐานะศูนย์กลางการวิจัยด้านโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับการยอมรับในระดับสากล

เมื่อวันที่ 19 มีนาคม คณะแพทยศาสตร์ได้จัดการประชุมสัมมนาทางวิชาการ “Tumor microenvironment-powered cellular immunotherapy: A cancer game changer” โดยได้รับเกียรติจาก รศ. ชาญชัย พานทองวิริยะกุล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เป็นประธานกล่าวเปิดงาน ซึ่งได้เน้นย้ำถึงบทบาทสำคัญของความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศในการพัฒนาแนวทางการรักษาโรคมะเร็ง โดยในการประชุม ศ. เบธ คอยล์ ได้บรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ ” Modelling the tumor microenvironment of brain tumours: The future of cancer treatment” หรือการจำลองสภาพแวดล้อมของเนื้องอกในสมอง พร้อมทั้งได้ให้แนวคิดเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการรักษาในอนาคต
