“Visiting International Faculty Staff Inbound”
Professor Reza Alaghehbandan, MD, MSc(Epi), FRCPC, FCAP, International Academy of Pathology(IAP) Ambassador and the Deparment Head at the Royal Columbian Hospital, University of British Columbia, Canada was invited by the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (MD-KKU), Thailand, to visit MD-KKU in the role of Overseas Visiting Professor at the Department of Pathology.
Professor Reza Alaghehbandan delivered special lectures and exchanged knowledge on how to approach Surgical Pathology and Cytology at Department of Pathology, MD-KKU workshop. This workshop was part of “Khon Kaen International Pathological Conference 2018”. Prof. Reza Alaghehbandan taught using interactive techniques how to read and interpret pathological slides with a microscope that could be used by many people at the same time, including a presentation on LED monitor. He delivered a class that was both academic and enjoyable. The participants were enthused by his teaching in the Laboratory of the Department of Pathology, 3rd Floor, Pre-clinical science building, MD-KKU, on November 3-5, 2018
He exchanged academic knowledge of anatomical pathology with pathology residents with an interest in breast, genitourinary system (GU), and gynecology.
On this occasion, participants were clinical postgraduate students or medical residents in the Anatomical Pathology Residency Training Program of the Department of Pathology, MD-KKU. Participants from foreign countries were 1) Dr. Su Su Win from Specialist Hospital Mingalardon, Yangon, Myanmar; 2) Dr. Yin Yin Thu, Yankin Childrens Hospital, Myanmar; 3) Dr.Jigme Wangchuk, Nationality: Bhutan, medical resident of the Anatomical Pathology Residency Training Program of the Department of Pathology, MD-KKU; 4) Dr. Phaengvilay Xaysomphet, Pathologist from Lao PDR and 5) Dr. Bounleuang Kousonh Pathologist from Lao PDR
Associate Professor Supinda KOONMEE, MD, is the representative of Department of Pathology, MD-KKU, here giving a memento to our overseas visiting professor. This visit led to a discussion and exchange of opinion on the development of co-research projects between the two institutions in the future.
Professor Reza Alaghehbandan had previously visited MD-KKU is between February 12-16, 2018, met with Associate Dean for International Relations and Cooperation Strategies (Associate Professor Supat Sinawat) in order to discussion and exchange opinion in develop the potential of clinical postgraduate students and medical resident doctors of the Anatomical Pathology program. He supervised on GU, Breast Gynecologic Pathology, and teaching to enhance the skills in Laboratory Techniques of Gross Teaching in GU, Slides Teaching in GU, Breast, Gynecology Pathology.
The Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University has a policy of developing international academic standards by promoting and supporting clinical and preclinical departments, including postgraduate programs hosted by two or more departments. In order to have “Visiting International Faculty Staff Inbound”, at the policy implementation level, the Faculty of Medicine runs the program “Overseas Visiting Professors in the fiscal year 2018-2019” which is administered by the International Relations Office, MD, KKU. We would like to express our appreciation to key people involved in these international exchange activities, including: Associate Professor Supinda Koonmee, Assistant Professor Sakda Wara-asawapati, Dr. Sukkarn Sangkhamanon, Dr. Chaiwat Aphivatanasiri, iand others. The exchange activities with this leading institution in Canada will bring medical knowledge and technology to our medical school in Thailand aiding our policy of internationalization.
